Reply to How long does "processing" usually take?
Between 3 minutes and forever (I had builds staying there for days).Reloading the page doesn't do anything, and pushing additional builds just queue them.Sometimes the build gets out of processing state, sometimes, it stays stuck forever. What worked for me (but not everytime, so it may have been a coincidence) was to use the Application Loader in those cases. The new uploaded build went out of the processing queue to the build section, and the other builds just dispeared (so I have missing build numbers in the build list).edit: precision about the workaround

CoreMediaIO sample camera driver
Hello,We have been successful at creating a CoreMediaIO plug-in sample camera driver using the example at https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/samplecode/CoreMediaIO/Introduction/Intro.html.These are steps we do during installation:the built plugin is copied into /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/sample.plugin and the kernel extension is placed into /Library/Extensions/sample.kext.We do the following:chown -R root:wheel /Library/Extensions/sample.kextchown -R root:wheel /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/sample.pluginkextload /Library/Extensions/sample.kextcreate a LaunchDaemon loads the plugin. The installation works and the camera is installed. An application like AVRecorder or FaceTime is able to detect our camera driver if its opened AFTER the installation of the camera driver. However, if the application is already opened and then the camera is installed, the list of devices does not refresh and the application does not detect our camera driver. The only way it will detect is if we close the application

Reply to almost afraid to ask on new background modes.
I've begged them for this in bug reports 3 or 4 iOS versions ago, I've written Tim Cook, (and Steve Jobs) for this.I discussed ways I am using past and current Apple tech, UI and frameworks to work around trying to keep my apps at least usable, and instead of Apple helping, those work arounds disappear in the next update of iOS/OSX, this has happened 3 times... the last time, I didn't even think it was even close to something Apple didn't want apps to do, nor would any normal human, yet the next version of iOS/OSX, I could not, nor can anyone, any longer use this extremely useful method... that is just not right.... there just is no reason why it should have disappeared, not battery, not security, not any reason. (and why it was such a big surprise when an Apple employee said: you/your app should not be able to do such and such) I am going to leave that as vage as it sounds, for fear of losing something else.I've grown to use bug reports sparingly, and not at all, twice bitten three times shy, and I'

Reply to Can't build and run watchOS 2
I unpaired and re-paired my Watch to my phone per the recommendation here. This took quite a while (over an hour?) for the Watch to recover from as it had to undergo a restore (unfortunately losing my activity information in the process). After it came back to life and I got the Trust/Don't Trust dialog after firing up Xcode, it took another several hours before Xcode finally recognized my phone + Watch as a viable target. Xcode crashed constantly, as well. I was just about to head home for the day when I tried debugging my app one more time and ... it worked! If I have to do this again, I believe the solution to saving the activity data is to perform an encrypted backup to iTunes first, and then unpair/pair.Regardless, thank you for this solution, @MrBit!

Messages App: No Video/Audio/ScreenSharing?
I was a little surprised to find the Audio/Video chat missing entirely from Messages.app in El Capitan. But they are still in the AppleScript dictionary, but no signs of them in the GUI anywhere anymore. Is this a freak upgrade problem, or is this the future? Kinda sad, I liked having it all in a single app. And what about screen sharing? I don't see that either...

How to debug smart banners?
I'm having issues trying to debug an issue with smart banners. I implemented application: openURL: sourceApplication: annotation in the AppDelegate and this works correctly for a JS window.open forced redirect form the server as well as typing in the urlScheme://path in the browser. However, the smart banner app-argument seems to be passing something different. If I look in the source of a webpage and type the exact same app-argument as what the smart banner has into safari, I'm deep-linked appropriately in my app. If I click the smart banner, then something happens for my code not to parse it properly. It looks like XCode 6 or iOS8 broke the ability to test smart banners by overriding an app store install with XCode. Now if I try to install an XCode build over an app store install, the smart banner will want me to reinstall the app from the App Store. There must be a way to test smart banners other than crossing your fingers and pushing to production? Thanks!

Reply to iOS 9 Beta battery life
It's a travesty on the whole. Some sort of background operation is chewing through CPU cycles, causing everything from an iPad to an iphone 6 (and Plus) to burn through battery in less than half a day. Sometimes it's drained an iPad Air 2 we have for testing within 3 hours from a full charge with zero on-time. Meaning, the device was in standby for 3 hours from a full charge then basically dead.Beyond this obvious battery problem is another of great concern regarding iCloud backups. MASSIVE storage loss on our iCloud accounts for test devices. One account has over 500 GB of the entire 1 TB available allocated to Backups and yet when you actually look at the list of backups there are only two devices with less than 20 GB in size each. Where is the rest of the storage going? More transparency for iCloud relative to backups should be made available especially when this is crippling development. We can't do anything to delete the data and have no eta on when this will be resolved, or if it will impact an

Reply to iOS 9 beta iCloud backup can't be deleted
Hi Parsa, I really think the engineer(s) writing the release notes missed a major issue. While they do mention that some backups may report failure and instead be successful, then go on to suggest syncing via itunes if this happens, they did NOT mention that backups would be locked with permissions that break any ability to delete, remove or replace them from iCloud. The current situation is that we have multiple accounts in our development team that have absolutely zero iCloud data left, requiring we either pay to upgrade the storage or live with it and pray it's fixed. While testing anything that requires iCloud storage is completely impossible. Or we have to create completely new accounts. Bottom line, everyone testing Beta 1 of iOS 9 should disable iCloud backups on ALL iOS devices (as a precaution) for each iCloud account that will be paired to a development device running iOS 9 prior to performing the system update to Beta 1. iCloud is tremendously broken with iOS 9 Beta 1 and it's a bit risky

How to expose pure Swift classes to Objective-C correctly?
Consider this:MyFile.swift:@objc class SomeGuy { }MyClass.m:#import MyApp-Swift.h @interface SomeClass @end @implementation SomeClass - (void)someMethod { SomeGuy *someGuy = [[SomeGuy alloc] init]; } @endIn other words: have a pure Swift class annotated with @objc so it’s visible to Objective-C code. In Objective-C code, try to instantiate that class. If you were to run the above, you’d get compiler error: “no known class method for selector 'alloc'”One way to fix this would be to make SomeGuy inherit from NSObject. But I don’t want to do that, since I feel it adds too much cruft, the class isn’t really inheriting from NSObject by its nature, it is a pure swift class.Another way to fix: over on the Objective-C side, have a category:@interface SomeGuy (Dummy) + (instancetype)alloc; @endThis works and feels less weird, but still weird. It feels that the Swift-to-ObjC should autogenerate the alloc declaration for me in this case, since if I just add this category interface, everything works correctly.Have I missed

A proposal: The World Wide Developer Forum.
Once a year, just five thousand Apple developers get to go to WWDC, they get their hands on news, engineers and presentations. They even meet other developers. Those of us who cannot attend (or cannot afford to attend) miss-out. It's not anyone's fault. There is no practical way to run a physical conference could ever meet that incredible level of demand. But perhaps there is an opportinity to create a world-wide, 24-7 / 365-days-a-year - developer conference by electronic means? This WWDF service would be a the centre of documentation, eductation, WWDC videos, source code examples, Q&As, self-help. - And even perhaps a dash of social network?Currently, those looking for solutions on Apple platforms might get better , faster results on Stack Overflow, or Ray Wenderlich than on the current Apple forum. I am not sure what exact form this would take. But sites like Quora might be a good model. They combine question-and-answer databases, with user editing. They distingush between true answers and comme
