Degraded App Clip Performance Over Last Few Weeks
Over the past two weeks, we have noticed widespread degraded performance in iOS devices not recognizing when links are App Clips. When scanning the QR code, it identifies it as a link, not an App Clip link and tries to open the link via Safari. Once in Safari, it still prompts the user to download the full app and not open the App Clip. Scanning with the Control Center "Scan Code" button gives an indication that it understands it's an App Clip link, but still does not open it correctly. In some cases, it will say "App Clip Unavailable" which is simply not true. After a few scans of the same QR code, the iOS device will correct itself and open the correct App Clip. There is no consistency and/or reason why it would do this. We have had a massive influx of users complaining that it's not opening the App Clip correctly. We have not changed anything on our website or app that would alter the efficacy of this issue. Have tested on a variety of different iOS devices on a variety of different operating systems (iPads, iPhones, iOS 16, iOS 18, etc) and they all have started behaving this same way. In addition, we've tested on other apps with App Clips and they are experiencing the same issue. My guess is that there is something happening on Apple's side with apple-app-site-association issues. We reported via Feedback Assistant but have yet to hear from anyone from Apple to acknowledge this is a widespread issue.

AppClip+TipKit: Tips status stuck at .pending and don't display
Hi - I use TipKit in my App and AppClip. TipKit is configured with the app group's datastore. The tips show in the App, but on the AppClip, with the same rules/state, the tips do not display. Is this expected? TipKit is not listed as one of the frameworks unavailable to AppClips. try? Tips.configure([ Tips.ConfigurationOption.displayFrequency(.hourly), Tips.ConfigurationOption.datastoreLocation(.groupContainer(identifier: BuildConfiguration.shared.userDefaultsSuite)) ])

App Clip Closes Before SKOverlay Can Show “Open” Button When Live Activity Is Involved
I have an App Clip that uses SKOverlay.AppClipConfiguration to install the full app. Before I added a Live Activity call (Activity.request), the user could see “Install,” then “Open.” Now, once “Get” is tapped, the Clip immediately closes—no “Open” button appears. If I remove the Live Activity code, it works again. I’ve confirmed that parent/child entitlements match, and tested via TestFlight. Is there a known issue or recommended workaround for combining SKOverlay + Live Activities in an App Clip so it doesn’t dismiss prematurely? Any insights are appreciated! Note live activity is for App Clip only.

App Clip iMessage Sharing Not Working
We have been having problems with our app clip not working when sharing through iMessage. The app and app clip are published and work correctly when scanning a QR code that points to the URL: https://www.coderus.com/locations?loc=1 however if this same URL is shared through the iMessage app, a link to the website displays and not the app clip card. We have confirmed that: AASA file is available and has the type application/json Both devices are above iOS 14 Both devices are in each other's contacts The website has the meta tag for the smart app clip banner The website has a meta tag for the og:image Launch experiences have been configured on AppStoreConnect - as said before, the QR codes work correctly The link leads to a 404 page, I wasn't sure if there needs to be an actual page that the link points to as app clips seem to work fine without when scanning the QR code through the camera app.

App Clips are approved but aren't rendering in iMessage
Our App Clips have been approved for about a week. However, our App Clips are not loading or previewing in iMessage. My friend and I both have an iPhone with iOS 18. Our App Clip minimum target is iOS 17. For both of us, the App Clip previews aren't loading in iMessage (see image below). But this isn't right—App Clips generally SHOULD preview in iMessage. For reference, when I send my friend an Instagram post URL, the app clip DOES load & preview in iMessage—suggesting it's just an issue with 222's App Clips. In the iMessage screenshot... the top url is https://rsvp.222.place/?id=0034d4c8-7dcd-44bf-89df-6dc1acd806d2 The bottom url is https://appclip.apple.com/id?p=place.twotwotwo.twotwotwo-ios.Clip (default App Clip Link) When I run either of these URLs in App Clip Diagnostics in Settings -> Developer, both of them are marked as approved and ready to go.

How to create a second target for an app with a linked App Clip?
I have a SwiftuI App which includes an App Clip. There is one target for the iOS app and one for the App Clip. All good. But I want to create a new target for the test flight app so that test users can distinguish it from the App Store app. E.g. Test Flight app has a different icon asset file in the target but is identical in all other aspects. However, when I try to build the test flight target I see the message: The com.apple.developer.parent-application-identifiers entitlement (...]') of an App Clip must match the application-identifier entitlement ('...') of its containing parent app. This implies that I’d have to change the entitlement of the app clip, which would mess up the production version so I clearly don’t want to go that route. Any ideas how to overcome this conflict?

New Target for project with an App Clip
I have a SwiftuI App which includes an App Clip. There is one target for the iOS app and one for the App Clip. All good. But I want to create a new target for the test flight app so that test users can distinguish it from the App Store app. E.g. Test Flight app has a different icon Asset file in the target but includes all the other source code files. However, when I try to build the test flight target I see the message: The com.apple.developer.parent-application-identifiers entitlement (...]') of an App Clip must match the application-identifier entitlement ('...') of its containing parent app. I can't figure how to do this without messing up the original production App. Any ideas?

How to Confirm Wi-Fi Connection Success in App Clip Without Access Wi-Fi Information Entitlement?
My app helps users connect to Wi-Fi networks, and I have requested the Access Wi-Fi information entitlement. This allows the app to retrieve the current Wi-Fi information to ensure the user’s connection is successful. Now, we are trying to implement an App Clip that enables users to connect to a specific Wi-Fi network through a QR code scan or NFC in certain scenarios. In the App Clip, I’ve requested the Hotspot entitlement, which allows the app to use the hotspot manager to configure Wi-Fi networks. However, since I cannot access the current Wi-Fi information in the App Clip, I’m unable to confirm whether the connection was successful.

App Download Banner in App Clip downloads but does NOT open app
In our app clip, we open/show the full app download banner. We used to have the expected behavior, but with seemingly no changes to the app download banner code we have the following issue. Expected behavior: App download banner shows in app clip, user presses "Get" button, app is downloaded and installs, "Get" button changes to "Open" button (note: button is blue), user presses "Open" button and the full app is opened. Current behavior: App download banner shows in app clip, user presses "Get" button, app is downloaded and installs, "Get" button changes to "Open" button (note: button is now grey), user presses "Open" button but nothing happens. With the current behavior, the full app is correctly downloaded and the appclip removes itself from the phone, but the open button does nothing.

App Clip Advanced Experiences don't get published
Hello everyone, We recently (a week ago) released our app, which includes an App Clip as a target. Before going live, we thoroughly tested the App Clip functionality using both the "Local Experience" and the "_XCAppClipURL" method. During testing, everything worked seamlessly. After going live, when we manually create QR codes using the default App Clip URLs, such as: https://appclip.apple.com/id?p= https://appclip.apple.com/id?p=&clip= The App Clip card is displayed, and the functionality works as expected. However, we encountered an issue where scanning the App Clip QR codes displays the message: "No usable data found." Our App Clip QR codes are dynamically generated with URLs in the format: https://example.com/clip?id= We implemented an advanced App Clip experience with the URL: https://example.com/clip This advanced App Clip experience is currently showing the status "Received" in App Store Connect. If this issue is due to the "Received" state of the advanced App Clip experience. Here are the key implementation details for your reference: We have added the domain "appclips:example.com" to the App Clip target's entitlement. The AASA (Apple App Site Association) file is hosted at https://example.com/.well-known/apple-app-site-association This file has been validated successfully and includes the correct entries for App Clips. The domain URL is "validated" status on App Store Connect. The Advance app clip is in "Received" status. The diagnostic for the URL is showing like a screen shot attached. This issue is critical for our marketing and user adoption. Could any of you please assist us in identifying and resolving this issue? If additional details or documentation are needed, we are happy to provide them promptly. Thank you for your support and assistance in this matter.

App Clip not being released
Hi, hi We recently released a new version of our app that included an app clip. The actual app has been approved and released to the store but it seem that the app clip is not getting much love and not getting released. When we check the associated url in the diagnostics tools it just reports back that the app clip is not released and when I look into the advanced experience tab for in app store connect the status is just stuck in "Received". This app clip is a critical feature of our app so it would be great if anyone it would not be stuck in this limbo. Has anyone had similar experience ?

iOS 17 App clip link click
When we use the App Clip link to jump on an iOS17 device, the first click will not respond, and the App Clip pop-up window will not pop up until the second click. Proceed as follows: After the iPhone clicks the link for the first time, or clicks the ‘Clear Experience Cache’ button in setting-->Developer-->App Clips Testing On the Notes App on iPhone, click the link https://appclip.apple.com/id?p=com.example.naturelab.backyardbirds.Clip There is no response when clicking the link for the first time, and the window will not pop up until the second click. Is this an iPhone problem? Looking forward to your reply

Open UIViewController when QR Code is scanned
Hi developers, I have a question if it is possible to open in my application not main window but a specific ViewController, when application is installed but not running. When the application is running in background and I scan QR code, then specific ViewController is opened over SceneDelegate and method 'userActivity'. But this does not work when the application is only installed, but not running. The Appstore link is here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/don%C3%A1tor/id6473955033

I was forced by App Review to release a new app binary due to significant rebranding. My existing app used app clips and registered afew advanced app clip experience urls. I published a new binary but the app clips no longer work. Old binary bundle id: com.example.app App Clip Advanced Experience Url: https://example.com New binary bundle id: com.example.new.app New App Clip Advanced Experience URL: https://example.com. Error Message: This URL is already registered as an App Clip Experience.

App Clip show "App Clip Unavailable" only when the main app is not installed
After uploading the app to App Store Connect, Apple automatically generated a Default App Clip Link. However, the App Clip card only opens successfully if the main app is already installed on the device. If the main app is not installed, the App Clip card displays an image and the message "App Clip Unavailable" What could cause this behavior, and how do I ensure the App Clip works without requiring the main app to be installed?

Testing Local Experience for App Clip Not Working
I am trying to follow the guidance for testing a Local Experience, as listed in the Testing Your App Clip’s Launch Experience - https://developer.apple.com/documentation/app_clips/testing_your_app_clip_s_launch_experience documentation. I have successfully created my App Clip target, and can confirm that running the App Clip on my device does launch the App Clip app as I expected. Further, I can successfully test the App Clip on device, by setting the _XCAppClipURL argument in the App Clip's scheme. I would like to test a Local Experience. The documentation states that for testing Local Experiences; To test your app clip’s invocation with a local experience, you don’t need to add the Associated Domains Entitlement, make changes to the Apple App Site Association file on your web server, or create an app clip experience for testing in TestFlight. Therefore, I should be able to configure a Local Experience with any desired domain in Settings -> Developer -> Local Experience, generate a QR code or NFC tag with that same URL, and the App Clip experience should appear. I have taken the following steps; Built and run my App Clip on my local device. In Settings -> Developer -> Local Experience, I have registered a new experience using a URL prefix https://somewebsite.com Set my Bundle ID to com.mycompany.myapp.Clip, which exactly matches the Bundle Identifier, as listed in Xcode, under my App Clip target. Generated a QR code which directs me to https://somewebsite.com In theory, I believe I should be able to open the Camera app on my device, point the camera at the QR code, and the App Clip experience should appear. However, I received mixed experiences. 50% of the time, I receive a pop-up directing me to open https://somewebsite.com in Safari, the other 50% of the time, no banner or action occurs whatsoever. Is this an issue anyone has faced before, or have I pursued these steps out of order?

Local storage/db of WKWebView in App Clips and installed Apps
Hello, I am studying a possible scenario. Let's say I create an App Clip that features a WKWebView. The WKWebView hosts a sort of webapp that uses local storage and IndexDB. When the complete app is installed, are the data persisted so the WKWebView of the complete app finds them as it was reading them before? Are the data transferred by the operating system to a new location but still accessed the same way by the WKWebView (Or even the location is the same because it is the WKWebView special storage)? Or are they wiped out? Thank you in advance Best regards

App Clip Card - This app clip is not currently available in your country or region
I am testing App Clip on Testflight to show App Clip Card but it only shows a white Card with the message: “This app clip is not currently available in your country or region” (if using Local Expreriences, it shows normally) I have fully installed apple-app-site-association, App Clip Experience, Domain URL Status also validated ... don't understand why, is the app "Redy For Sale" new to show the Card?. I want to let customers test show App Clip Card without using Local Expreriences on Testflight If anyone knows, please help, thank you.

AppClip URLSession network request problem
Hi, I have pretty trivial problem. So, I am trying to use URLSession network request but I am getting errors. This code is in the shared file that works when I run it as app, but when I run it as AppClip it is not working. Running on the simulator is working even as AppClip. Here is the code (pretty trivial):     let session = URLSession.shared     let url = URL(string: "https://learnappmaking.com/ex/users.json")!     let task = session.dataTask(with: url, completionHandler: { _, response, error in       print(error)       print(response)     })     task.resume() I am getting this error: 2020-11-20 19:35:05.189273+0100 ExampleAppClip[14703:4633304] [Client] Updating selectors after delegate removal failed with: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4099 "The connection to service on pid 92 named com.apple.commcenter.coretelephony.xpc was invalidated from this process."
