HealthKit Background Health Data Collection, Emergency Contacts, and Automated Alerting Feasibility
I have a few feasibility questions regarding health data processing on iOS, related to HealthKit and system capabilities: Background Health Data Collection Can an iOS app continuously collect and process health data in the background, including: Collecting health data from the Health app while the device is locked or in sleep mode Triggering user notifications when anomalies are detected in health data processing Are there any technical limitations? Do these capabilities require specific enterprise qualifications or additional fees? 2. Emergency Contacts Integration Can an app write or modify the system’s built-in Emergency Contacts (Medical ID)? If a user updates Emergency Contacts in iOS Settings, can the app receive a change notification or access the updated data? 3. Automated Alerting for Health Metrics Beyond Apple’s fall detection, can abnormal health metrics (heart rate, irregular rhythm, blood oxygen, etc.) trigger automated alerts such as SMS to preset emergency contacts—w

Xcode 26.4 cannot run app-hosted unit tests on physical iOS 16 devices ("Logic Testing Unavailable")
Summary: After upgrading to Xcode 26.4, app-hosted XCTest execution on physical devices running iOS 16 fails at test-planning time with Logic Testing Unavailable. The same project and same device work under Xcode 26.2. The failure reproduces with a standalone minimal Xcode project, which suggests this is an Xcode regression rather than a project-configuration issue. Environment: Xcode: 26.4 (17E192) macOS: Tahoe 26.4 Failing device: iPhone 11 (iPhone12,1), iOS 16.0.3 Working comparisons: Xcode 26.2 + same iPhone 11 (iOS 16.0.3): works Xcode 26.4 + iPad Pro 11-inch (4th generation) on iOS 26.3: works Regression: Yes. Works on Xcode 26.2. Fails on Xcode 26.4. Same project, same signing setup, same physical iOS 16 device. Minimal reproduction: A minimal sample project with: one iOS app target one app-hosted unit-test target one UI-test target (for comparison; not required to reproduce) Steps for the unit-test repro on a physical device running iOS 16

App Store Version Not Working on iOS 12
I recently released version 8.5.4 (build 188) using Cloud Build. During testing via TestFlight, the app worked correctly on an iPhone 6 running iOS 12.5.8. However, after the app was published on the App Store, I found that the same version does not open at all on iOS 12 devices. Previously, earlier versions (such as 8.5.3) were functioning properly on iOS 12. My app’s minimum deployment target is set to iOS 12.0. This issue appears only with the App Store version, while the TestFlight version works fine on the same device. Due to this, I have paused the phased release of version 8.5.4 to prevent further impact on users still running iOS 12. I would like guidance on the following: 1. Has there been any recent change or limitation affecting apps targeting iOS 12 on the App Store? 2. Is there a way to prevent iOS 12 users from downloading version 8.5.4 while allowing them to continue using version 8.5.3? 3. Is there any recommended approach to ensur

Reply to HealthKit Background Health Data Collection, Emergency Contacts, and Automated Alerting Feasibility
An iOS app can't continuously run in the background. For more information about iOS background execution limits, see here. For using HealthKit in background, see here. (The latter is about HealthKit in watchOS, but the situation is pretty much the same in iOS.) Emergency Contacts is a user feature. For privacy reason, there is no API to access the information. Given that the answer to your question 1 and 2 is no, you can't achieve the automated alerting either. Best, —— Ziqiao Chen  Worldwide Developer Relations.

IOS Swift touch screen issue
MyOwnKeyboard Pad app has 4 text views with textfields that use touch screen for editing. There is one view, Compose, that has a textfield and a textview (UIRepresentable). The app enters text into the view using textfield buttons. The app has total control of editing. When entering text if the screen is touched it conflicts the cursor position and creates an out of bounds failure. In that view the app does not need any touch events. I need a method in UIRepresentable to disable the touch event. I am not familiar with UIRepresentable as this code was provided by Apple to solve a 16 bit unicode character issue. What would be the code to disable touch events in the UIRepresentable compose view. The app is free for a while until this problem is fixed. It is for iPads 11+ . The name in the app store is MyOwnKeyboard Pad. I know some great engineer will find the answer. DTS tried. Thanks to all, maybe I'll sell some. Charlie 25mar26

Apps cannot launch on iOS 9-12 devices after recent build - "The process failed to exec"
We found that our apps (and other apps from different companies) cannot launch on iOS 9 to iOS 12 devices. The app can be installed successfully but crashes immediately on launch. From the device syslog: assertiond: The process failed to exec SpringBoard: Bootstrapping failed - Unable to bootstrap process Our distribution certificate was issued on Feb 2, 2026, signed by WWDR G3 intermediate certificate. Previews for SwiftUI views in Packages don't work in Xcode 26.4
I have an iOS project based on SwiftUI in which almost all code is organised in Packages. With Xcode 26.2 and 26.3, I can preview all SwiftUI views without issues. With Xcode 26.4, the same previews don't work, in the canvas appears this error message: Cannot preview in this file. Could not find target description for “TaskListView.swift”. The explanation is: The list of source files that produce object files did not contain this file to be previewed. Check to make sure it is not excluded using the EXCLUDED_SOURCE_FILE_NAMES build setting. If I add a SwiftUI view to the main project files (not in a package), the preview works as expected. Is it an Xcode 26.4 regression? Or do I need to modify some configuration file?

AccessoryTransport Extensions not launching on iOS 26.5 beta — missing entitlements not available in provisioning
Environment Xcode 26.5 beta iOS 26.5 beta Using AccessorySetupKit + AccessoryTransportExtension framework Three extensions: AccessoryTransportAppExtension, AccessoryTransportSecurityExtension, AccessoryDataProviderExtension Background Everything worked correctly on iOS 26.4 beta. All three extensions shared the entitlement com.apple.developer.accessory-transport-extension, and the system launched them as expected. After upgrading to iOS 26.5 beta (both Xcode and device), the app compiles and runs, the accessory pairs and connects successfully (state = authorized, BLE connected, notification forwarding = allow), but none of the extensions are launched by the system. ScrollView clipping nav title in iOS 26?
When using a ScrollView inside some sort of navigation (stack or split view), large navigation titles seem to get clipped to the width of the scroll content for some reason? Minimal example: struct ContentView: View { var body: some View { NavigationStack { ScrollView { Text(Scroll Content) } .navigationTitle(Navigation Title) } } } Results in: Is this a bug in the beta, or has something changed and now I’m doing things wrong?

Navigation Bar Title Hidden When Right Bar Button Title Is Long (iOS 26)
I’m developing an app that includes a navigation bar with a centered title and a single right bar button item. I’ve noticed that when both the navigation bar title and the right bar button item’s title are relatively long, the navigation bar title becomes hidden. This issue only occurs on iOS 26. When running the same code on iOS 18, the layout behaves as expected, with both elements visible. Has anyone else experienced this behavior on iOS 26? Is this a known layout change or a possible bug?

It’s hard to say what’s going on without more logging, but the most likely cause is a memory pressure exit, and that’s very non-deterministic.
I will open a bug and post the bug number.
Much appreciated. Ideally this would include a sysdiagnose log taken: On a device with extra CryptoTokenKit logging enabled (see below) Shortly after seeing the problem But that might be hard to get, so you should feel free to file a bug with only your ‘kill ctkd’ step as evidence. On the logging front, our Bug Reporting > Profiles and Logs only has a CryptoTokenKit profile for iOS. However, you can install that profile on macOS, and I think
