NWPathMonitor : Lost connection to the debugger
I tried to monitor the device's network status with Network framework code below. let networkMonitor = NWPathMonitor(requiredInterfaceType: .cellular) networkMonitor.pathUpdateHandler = { [weak self] path in     if path.status == .satisfied {         print("Cellular Satisfied")     } else {         print("Cellular Unsatisfied")     } } When I run the app in my iPhone(iOS 15.5) and turn cellular on/off, iPhone suddenly loses connection with XCode. Xcode - Product > Archive files
Hello. I'm working on an app which works on multiple platforms (iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS). It builds and runs fine on the simulator and a real device but when trying to create a Product > Archive on macOS, it fails. Here's the error message I get: Build target RailBoardMac Project RailBoard | Configuration Debug | Destination Any Mac | SDK macOS 15.1 Link RailBoardMac (x86_64) 0.3 seconds Could not parse or use implicit file '/Applications/Xcode-beta.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX.sdk/System/Library/Frameworks/SwiftUlCore.framework/ Versions/A/SwiftUlCore.tbd': cannot link directly with 'SwiftUlCore' because product being built is not an allowed client of it less Undefined symbol: _main × Linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation) Build failed 20/09/2024, I know this used to work. I must have changed something somewhere and it no longer does. I'd be grateful for any assistance.

tvOS icon missing layers
I have an AppleTV app which I released in 2016. I've updated it and released a new version every year without much hassle. This year, with tvOS 17.2, the layered app icon isn't working right. This is a two-layer image made with PNGs. When it's selected, it looks right and the layers move correctly: But when it's not selected, the background layer disappears: Screenshots are from the simulator but it also happens on the device. It's inconsistent; sometimes it's the front layer that disappears. Occasionally both layers work, but I can't tell why. I've spent a day trying everything. Very frustrated. The icon previews correctly in Xcode and in Parallax Viewer. The image sizes are correct: 400 x 240 for Small, 800 x 480 for Small@2x, 1280 x 768 for Large. The back layer is a non-transparent PNG. I tried adding a Large@2x set. Didn't help. Originally I had a three-layer image with no middle layer PNG. I deleted the empty middle layer, but that didn't help. All the PNG files are from GnuIMP. Same color space, even. I was using the filenames tvicon-back-s.png and tvicon-back-s@2x.png. I tried taking out the @ sign in case that was confusing Xcode. (It never has before, but I am flailing here.) Anybody have any clues? If it's an Apple bug and there's nothing I can do, I'm going to just push the release button and hope it fixes itself someday.

App Store Connect Upload Fails with Icon Alpha Channel Error in Xcode 26 Beta 4
After updating to Xcode 26 Beta 4, I can no longer upload my app to App Store Connect due to a WatchKit icon validation error. The error states: Invalid Icon. The watch application 'YourApp.app/Watch/YourWatchApp.app' contains an icon file 'Icon Image-AppIcon-watch-1024x1024 @1x.png' with an alpha channel. Icons should not have an alpha channel. • This file name doesn’t exist in the asset catalog or project source. • All icon assets used in the Watch App’s AppIcon set, including the required 1024x1024 icon, were checked with sips -g hasAlpha and confirmed to not contain an alpha channel. • Project was cleaned, derived data cleared, and archive recreated multiple times. • This issue only began after updating to Xcode 26 Beta 4. In the previous versions, everything was ok. Is anyone else experiencing this after upgrading Xcode to Beta 4? Any idea/workaround on how to solve this would be appreciated.

MacOS 15.4 removes rsync —log-file option?
I installed MacOS Sequoia 15.4 and now my backup script no longer works. My script is using rsync in this way: rsync -avz —delete —log-file=“$LOG_FILE” “$SRC_DIR” “$DEST_DIR” This has been working fine for a very long time. After updating to 15.4, this produces the error “rsync: unrecognized action —log-file=/users/admin/logs/backuplog_***.log”. The log file path is correct (and hasn’t changed). Interestingly, the man page for rsync no longer shows the —log-file as an option. I know I can use: rsync -avz —delete “$SRC_DIR” “$DEST_DIR” > “$LOG_FILE”` or even rsync -avz —delete “$SRC_DIR” “$DEST_DIR” > “$LOG_FILE” 2>&1` to also capture stderr. However, I liked the output from the built-In log option. Does anyone know why this might have been removed or if there is a way to get it back? Thanks.

Xcode 16.2 not seeing iOS 18 devices
Ever since I updated to Xcode 16.2, no device running iOS 18 shows up in Xcode. I can see the devices in Finder and Apple Configurator, but not in Xcode. When I run xcrun devicectl list devices, I also do not see the devices, so I assume the issue is in CoreDevice somewhere. I've tried many things I've seen suggested in similar threads (toggling developer mode, reinstalling Xcode, using a different physical cable, etc) and so far nothing has helped. This same behavior is also happening for my entire development team, which has been as difficult as you might imagine. Any info on how to resolve this would be much appreciated.

Predictive Code Completion stopped working on new MacBook Pro
Happy to have a new MacBook Pro M4 now - the new machine was setup from time machine backup of my old MacBook Pro M1. Sadly Predictive Code Completion does not work on the new M4 (it was working great on the M1). Xcode shows as downloaded component: Predictive Code Completion Model [com.apple.fm.code.generate_small_v1.base: 500.1.81600.13.200772,0] [com.apple.fm.code.generate_safety_guardrail.base: 1.6.81619.13.200716,0] [com.apple.gm.safety_deny.input.code_intelligence.base: 32024010.20241007.171244.100.377,0] [com.apple.gm.safety_deny.output.code_intelligence.base: 32024010.20241007.171244.100.377,0] (Installed) Things I already tried: Removed and reinstalled Xcode 16 (also latest beta). Disabled/enabled Xcode Editor Settings for predictive code completion Many many reboots Removed Xcode cache Maybe the downloaded Model is somehow locked to the old machine? How can I remove, redownload or reinstall it again? Thank you very much. Tobias

How to prevent duplicate resource bundles from SPM dynamic framework in app extensions?
We use a local swift package in 6 of our app extensions. The product from the local package that we link to each app extension is a dynamic framework. And while the dynamic framework is copied into the final app bundle once, the resource bundles of each target that comprise the dynamic framework is copied into each app extension. I'd much rather have the bundles be copied into the dynamic framework once to prevent app bloat. Here is a visualization of the issue: . └── MyApp.ipa/ ├── MyApp (executable) ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetA.bundle ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetB.bundle ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetC.bundle ├── Frameworks/ │ └── MyDynamicFramework.framework/ │ ├── TargetA │ ├── TargetB │ └── TargetC └── PlugIns/ ├── Widgets.appex/ │ ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetA.bundle │ ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetB.bundle │ └── MyDynamicFramework_TargetC.bundle ├── Intents.appex/ │ ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetA.bundle │ ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetB.bundle │ └── MyDynamicFramework_TargetC.bundle ├── IntentsUI.appex/ │ ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetA.bundle │ ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetB.bundle │ └── MyDynamicFramework_TargetC.bundle ├── NotificationContent.appex/ │ ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetA.bundle │ ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetB.bundle │ └── MyDynamicFramework_TargetC.bundle ├── RichPushContent.appex/ │ ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetA.bundle │ ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetB.bundle │ └── MyDynamicFramework_TargetC.bundle └── NotificationService.appex/ ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetA.bundle ├── MyDynamicFramework_TargetB.bundle └── MyDynamicFramework_TargetC.bundle Notice that the resource bundles of Target A, B, and C are copied multiple times causing an unhealthy app size. I'd either like the resource bundles to be copied into MyDynamicFramework or copied once into the app bundle and let the app extensions reference them. Given the SPM + Xcode linking is a black box for the most part, how would I accomplish this?

Unable to Start macOS VM via Virtualization API in a Sandboxed Launchd Service
I’m encountering an issue when trying to start a macOS VM using Apple’s Virtualization framework in a sandboxed environment. When I create a standalone Xcode project, the VM launches successfully. However, when I integrate the same code into my existing project—where the VM is launched by a service started via launchd and running in a sandbox—it fails with the following error: Internal Virtualization Error: Failed to issue USB HCI sandbox extension To resolve this, I tried adding the com.apple.security.device.usb entitlement. But after doing that, the app started crashing with the following trace : Application Specific Signatures: SYSCALL_SET_USERLAND_PROFILE Thread 0 Crashed:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread 0 libsystem_secinit.dylib 0x19a7141bc _libsecinit_appsandbox.cold.9 + 84 1 libsystem_secinit.dylib 0x19a713324 _libsecinit_appsandbox + 2080 2 libsystem_trace.dylib 0x18c2326cc _os_activity_initiate_impl + 64 3 libsystem_secinit.dylib 0x19a712ab0 _libsecinit_initializer + 80 4 libSystem.B.dylib 0x19a72a32c libSystem_initializer + 280 5 dyld 0x18c162efc invocation function for block in dyld4::Loader::findAndRunAllInitializers(dyld4::RuntimeState&) const + 444 6 dyld 0x18c19f864 invocation function for block in dyld3::MachOAnalyzer::forEachInitializer(Diagnostics&, dyld3::MachOAnalyzer::VMAddrConverter const&, void (unsigned int) block_pointer, void const*) const + 324 7 dyld 0x18c1bf58c invocation function for block in mach_o::Header::forEachSection(void (mach_o::Header::SectionInfo const&, bool&) block_pointer) const + 240 8 dyld 0x18c1bc318 mach_o::Header::forEachLoadCommand(void (load_command const*, bool&) block_pointer) const + 208 9 dyld 0x18c1bda58 mach_o::Header::forEachSection(void (mach_o::Header::SectionInfo const&, bool&) block_pointer) const + 124 10 dyld 0x18c19f334 dyld3::MachOAnalyzer::forEachInitializer(Diagnostics&, dyld3::MachOAnalyzer::VMAddrConverter const&, void (unsigned int) block_pointer, void const*) const + 516 11 dyld 0x18c162cb4 dyld4::Loader::findAndRunAllInitializers(dyld4::RuntimeState&) const + 176 12 dyld 0x18c16e530 dyld4::PrebuiltLoader::runInitializers(dyld4::RuntimeState&) const + 44 13 dyld 0x18c1848b0 dyld4::APIs::runAllInitializersForMain() + 88 14 dyld 0x18c147e00 dyld4::prepare(dyld4::APIs&, mach_o::Header const*) + 3092 15 dyld 0x18c1471d8 dyld4::start(dyld4::KernelArgs*, void*, void*)::$_0::operator()() const + 236 16 dyld 0x18c146b4c start + 6000 I suspect this might be due to the provisioning profile, which doesn’t seem to include the required entitlement. However, I haven’t found a way to explicitly add this entitlement to the provisioning profile. My questions are: How can I add com.apple.security.device.usb to the provisioning profile? Is there a way to confirm that adding this entitlement would resolve the issue? Are there recommended steps to debug and test Virtualization framework usage in a sandboxed environment (especially when launched as a service)? I also tried disabling SIP and AMFI, but the crash still occurs. Is there a better way to work around or test this in development? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have a bone to pick with Xcode
Despite Xcode being the one and most used IDE for iOS, it is far from perfect. I have used many tools in my career and here are some features, that would make it much better or what I miss from other IDEs. I encourage others to chip in discussion and lets all hope, Apple starts to improve Xcode. Will put each issue in separate comment below. Slow debugger: not sure what bloat Xcode has or what it is doing, but sometimes it can take more than 10 seconds from breakpoint firing to actually see values. Moreover when debugging SwiftUI or something objC I have to drill down to see value of property or use po and p command and hope it works. SwiftUI views and states are a big pain to debug, to see what is changing a value I have to always use didSet trick or some other black magic. Is it too hard to make it easier? Breakpoints with condition can take up to 1 minute to load and I have M1 Max MBP. Just tried cursor IDE few days ago and breakpoints are much faster and without too much bloat in variable inspector.

UI Tests on Xcode Cloud fail due to Simulator randomly showing Apple logo
Hello everyone! When I run UI Tests on Xcode Cloud, I often encounter unexpected failures. Checking the screen recording, I found that the iOS Simulator could go into a black screen with a white Apple logo and a progress bar for a period after the test starts. This behavior of the Simulator causes my app's UI Tests to fail randomly, which greatly affects the practical use of UI Tests. I suspect this phenomenon is unrelated to my app and test cases, so I'm asking if anyone else has encountered a similar issue. 🤔

MacOSX Sonoma 14.7 + XCode 16.0 + iOS 17.6.1:
I am trying to install an app from a XCode project onto a iOS 17.6.1 device. The Macbook is a MacOSX Sonoma 14.7, Apple M2 Pro. I'm running XCode 16.0. I receive a series of alerts before receiving the final message. I tried to delete everything in this folder: rm ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.dt.Xcode/Downloads/* I reviewed the XCode components currently installed: I downloaded more runtime simulators from this link. I then followed the instructions provided in this link. For example: xcrun simctl runtime add "~/Downloads/iOS_17.4_Simulator_Runtime.dmg" xcrun simctl runtime add "~/Downloads/iOS_17.5_Simulator_Runtime.dmg" I'm still getting a message beside the device I want to install my app: The Developer Disk Image Could Not Be Staged On The Host I need help. I don't know what else to do. I don't see any matching simulators available for 17.6.1 and 17.7. Does anyone have any ideas?

iOS 18.2 Beta WKWebView Navigation Breaking loadFileURL for Local Files
I am experiencing a critical issue with WKWebView navigation in iOS 18.2 beta, specifically regarding the function webView.loadFileURL(_:allowingReadAccessTo:). In previous versions of iOS, this function works as expected when loading valid file URLs from the app’s local directory (e.g., Application Support). However, in iOS 18.2 beta, the function fails to complete the navigation, producing a provisional navigation failure with WebKitErrorDomain, code 102 (Frame load interrupted). This issue severely impacts our app’s ability to load essential local resources, breaking core functionality. Here’s a summary of the troubleshooting steps and findings: File and Directory Verification: The url provided to loadFileURL is valid. Both the file path and parent directory exist within the app’s sandbox, and the directory is accessible. Configuration: The code specifies the parent directory in the allowingReadAccessTo parameter to meet sandboxing requirements, which works on iOS 18.1 and prior releases. Testing on Stable iOS Versions: The issue is exclusive to iOS 18.2 beta; testing on earlier stable iOS releases confirms that the function works as intended. Impact: This regression severely disrupts the app’s navigation and content loading, effectively blocking access to local resources required for the WKWebView to display content properly. The error log returned in the console is as follows: > Error Domain=WebKitErrorDomain Code=102 "Frame load interrupted" UserInfo={_WKRecoveryAttempterErrorKey=<WKReloadFrameErrorRecoveryAttempter: 0x303dd67e0>, NSErrorFailingURLStringKey=file:///var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/4D128818-7E51-460E-B5D4-D2D70363EFA0/Library/, NSErrorFailingURLKey=file:///var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/4D128818-7E51-460E-B5D4-D2D70363EFA0/Library/, NSLocalizedDescription=Frame load interrupted} We suspect this may be due to a change in WebKit permissions in iOS 18.2 beta that affects local file handling within WKWebView. Given that the our app relies heavily on these resources, we kindly request this issue be addressed promptly. If any additional information or sample code is required, please let us know, and we will gladly provide further details to assist in resolving this issue. Thank you for your attention and support. Best regards, Isabela

How to turn off "connect via network" on Xcode 15?
This is really a disgusting function and I can't turn it off. Because the check box is grey, no way to turn it off. Even I connect my device via cables. Debug becomes slow. Although I connect my device via cable. And I'm developing a VPN application, it's rediculous that once I connect VPN from my device, Xcode will disconnect from my device. I can't stand this function any m ore. Does anyone know how to turn it off?
