Tabbar UITest bug on tvOS
When running UITests on tvOS, tabBar viewIdentifiers (UIKit) are no longer appearing. When you run the test, accessibility identifiers for tabs are no longer locatable but all other identifiers appears except for the tabs in the tabBar. In the stack trace of the debugger, if I print application, I can see all existing viewIdentifiers except those that were set for the tabs (on tvOS only). If I force an action on the simulator after the app has launched and the view appeared ie move left or right, the identifiers appears (confirmed by stack trace) and the test will continue as expected. This was not an issue in the past (no code changes). I am not sure if this appeared after updating my mac to Sequoia. But for iOS, there is no issue. This bug only appears on tvOS and specifically the tabs. Issue persists on: Sequoia 15.4.1 Xcode 16.3

On Log Noise - Debugging
I came across several "errors" being reported when I run my app, however my app seems to function correctly. I believe they fall in the category listed on this ( now locked ) thread https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/115461 However, I wanted to post the ones I found to clarify ( close to submission) just in case any of these end up being more than just log noise later. PLEASE let me know if you've come across these before and whether they impacted anything or if you can confirm they are just log noise. Thanks in advance! -[RTIInputSystemClient remoteTextInputSessionWithID:performInputOperation:] perform input operation requires a valid sessionID. inputModality = Keyboard, inputOperation = , customInfoType = UIEmojiSearchOperations AVAudioSession_iOS.mm:2,223 Server returned an error from destroySession:. Instruments Network: Background URLSession instance appears not to complete
As stated in the title. I am running the following code. Each time I perform an API call, I create a new instance of URLSession and use a background-configured session to allow background API calls. ` Code being executed: import Foundation // Model definitions struct RandomUserResponse: Codable { let results: [RandomUser] } struct RandomUser: Codable { let name: Name let email: String } struct Name: Codable { let first: String let last: String } // Fetcher class class RandomUserFetcher: NSObject, URLSessionDataDelegate { private var receivedData = Data() private var completion: ((RandomUser?) -> Void)? private var session: URLSession! func fetchRandomUserInBackground(completion: @escaping (RandomUser?) -> Void) { self.completion = completion let configuration = URLSessionConfiguration.background(withIdentifier: "com.example.randomuser.bg") session = URLSession(configuration: configuration, delegate: self, delegateQueue: nil) let url = URL(string: "https://randomuser.me/api/" )! let task = session.dataTask(with: url) task.resume() } // Data received func urlSession(_ session: URLSession, dataTask: URLSessionDataTask, didReceive data: Data) { receivedData.append(data) } // Completion func urlSession(_ session: URLSession, task: URLSessionTask, didCompleteWithError error: Error?) { defer { self.session.finishTasksAndInvalidate() } guard error == nil else { print("Error: \(error!)") completion?(nil) return } do { let response = try JSONDecoder().decode(RandomUserResponse.self, from: receivedData) completion?(response.results.first) } catch { print("Decoding error: \(error)") completion?(nil) } } }` Called in viewDidLoad, etc.: let fetcher = RandomUserFetcher() fetcher.fetchRandomUserInBackground { user in if let user = user { print("Name: \(user.name.first) \(user.name.last), Email: \(user.email)") } else { print("Failed to fetch random user.") } } In Instruments' Network instrument, I focus on my app's process, use 'Command + 3', and switch to 'List: URLSessionTasks'. Even though didCompleteWithError is called and the API call fully completes, the Duration keeps increasing, and the Success column remains '-' (neither 'Yes' nor 'No'). For non-background URLSessions, the session shows up as 'unnamed session', but for background URLSessions, it appears as 'unnamed background session 1 (XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXX)'. Does this mean the session is not actually being completed? I've checked Debug Memory Graph and confirmed there is no NSURLSession memory leak, but is it possible that the app is somehow still retaining session information internally? I also suspect that Instruments may not be able to fully track background URLSession tasks.

Simulator failing to recognize bundle ID
Hi all, I'm learning how to make iOS apps this weekend and I've failed to resolve the following issue. Here's important data regarding my xcode build: On my apple developer account, the bundle exists for the Team I'm currently using (meaning it will fail 'registering' the bundle identifier). I don't think this is a problem or of concern given that my bundle ID already exists on the account. My build settings have 'Product Build Identifier' pointing to the same bundle Identifier My info.plist file has the following lines: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key> <string>$(PRODUCT_BUNDLE_IDENTIFIER)</string> ... </dict> </plist> Simulator device failed to install the application. Unable to Renew Dev Subscription - My Never Ending Saga
Each year I get my renewal email from Apple, however, since 2019 (yes, this is the 4th year in a row) I've been unable to renew due to this infamous "Please enter fewer characters" error message. Each time I've had to open a support case, talk to someone on the phone, they take all of my details along with screenshots, etc. and manually renew my subscription. Once they've charged my card I never hear from them again and issue never gets resolved. IDK if any Apple Dev Support folks actually use this forum but this is ridiculous.

Associating file extension with my application
My application uses a text file with an extension of .dssfilelist. On Linux I would register the Mime type and associate it with the application in the .desktop file. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <mime-info xmlns="http://www.freedesktop.org/standards/shared-mime-info"> <mime-type type="text/dssfilelist"> <comment>DeepSkyStacker file-list file</comment> <glob pattern="*.dssfilelist" /> </mime-type> </mime-info> I believe that I need to add stuff to the Info.plist for my application, but I also understand that CFBundleTypeExtensions is deprecated. So please could you show me what I now need to add to the Info.plist file so that these files will be registered as "text/dssfilelist" type and associated with my application and to associate a .icns file with it?

Does Xcode still support capturing GPU workload for OpenGLES game app on iOS?
As far as I know, there was a time that you can capture GPU workload for opengles game app on iOS using Xcode. However, currently I'm using Xcode version 15.2 and iOS18,it seems the "capture GPU workload" button is always disabled when I'm trying to debug my game app which is using opengles api for graphics rendering no matter switchinng "GPU Frame Capture" to "OpenGL ES" or "Metal" or "Automatically" in the scheme. And I'm not able to capture GPU workload for my game on iOS. The only way to make the "capture GPU workload" button enabled is creating a new project using metal api for graphics rendering. But I don't want to change the graphics API, because it will cause a lot. Does Xcode still support capturing GPU workload for OpenGLES game app on iOS? If not, is there an alternative way?

Predictive code completion is not working for existing project.
My project was created on a Mac with an Intel processor. Predictive code completion is enabled in Safari settings. The predictive model is loaded. However, the predictive typing does not work. For new projects it works. I took the following steps to fix this problem: 1. Ensure Indexing is Enabled and Up-to-Date: Enable Indexing: In Terminal, run the command defaults write com.apple.dt.XCode IDEIndexDisable 0. Clean and Rebuild: Go to "Product" > "Clean Build Folder" in Xcode. Then, rebuild your project. Check Derived Data: Xcode uses a "DerivedData" folder to store build artifacts. Try clearing this folder by navigating to ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData and deleting its contents (you can use the command rm -rfv * in Terminal). 2. Verify Xcode Settings: Enable Predictive Code Completion: Go to Xcode > Settings > Text Editing > Editing and ensure "Predictive code completion" is checked. Check for Predictive Code Completion Model: In Xcode, go to Settings > Components. Ensure the "Predictive Code Completion Model" is downloaded and installed. If it's not, try downloading it by clicking the "+" button and selecting it. Disable and Re-enable: Try disabling predictive code completion in Xcode's settings and then re-enabling it. But this not help. I use latest macOS and Xcode.

Refactor->Rename "Refactoring Engine Failure"
For Xcode 15 and Xcode 16, whenever I try to use the Refactor->Rename command I get a spinning busy cursor for a short while then I get an alert that says: Rename Failed Refactoring engine failure. This happens on several projects and I've tried removing the derived data folder, but am at a loss to find additional troubleshooting steps. Are there other files I might remove or reset to get my "Refactoring Engine" back into shape?

AR Camera Freezes in Split View on iPad (Vuforia + Unity + iOS 16+)
Hi everyone, We're developing an AR app using Unity with Vuforia for object detection. Our app works well in full-screen mode, including detection and post-detection phases. However, we're facing a specific issue in iPad Split View multitasking mode. Problem: The AR camera (Vuforia-based) freezes during object detection if another app is opened in Split View. Post-detection, everything works fine in Split View. The problem only occurs during detection. Testing Environment: iPadOS 16+ Unity with Vuforia plugin Using EnableMultitaskingCameraAccess() method with AVFoundation to support camera multitasking AR scene is set up properly with detection capabilities in full-screen

Code signing error when building an application with login item on xcode cloud
When building xcode project of an application with login item included/embedded (another target), locally it works without problems. But when building on xcode cloud, we are getting the error: ITMS-90286: Invalid code signing entitlements - Your application bundle’s signature contains code signing entitlements that aren’t supported on macOS. Specifically, the “XXX.***.***” value for the com.apple.application-identifier key in “Path_to_login_Item” isn’t supported. This value should be a string that starts with your Team ID, followed by a dot (“.”), followed by the bundle ID. If there are no capabilities added to the login item's target (only com.apple.security.inherit and App Sandbox), the project builds without errors. But our login item needs to access a database in app group container and sync its data with iCloud, so after adding iCloud and App Group entitlements, building on xcode cloud fails with the error written above. Locally it builds and runs without problems. So, what should be done to fix this issue when building on xcode cloud?

Xcode does not see code changes in local Swift packages (autocomplete wrong, errors shown, but still compiles)
Hey, I've been having a lot of problems with Xcode 16 not seeing changes made to code in local Swift packages (the packages are inside the root directory of the project). Whenever I make any change like renaming a variable or type, or adding new methods or whatever, autocomplete doesn't see those changes and when I type in that new type/variable manually it gives me an error. However, building the project still works fine, even with the errors never going away. The only way for it to notice the code changes is to clean the project and build it again which takes a long time. At first, I thought this was connected to the new "Explicitly built modules" feature in Xcode 16, but I turned it off and it still happens. Any ideas what I can try? I'm on the latest Xcode version, but this problem has been happening since Xcode 16 originally came out. Thanks! Dennis

Xcode JSONDecoder playground fails with 'The LLDB RPC server has crashed.
If I create a playground project that uses a JSONDecoder I get the following error. The LLDB RPC Server has crashed. The crash log is located at ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports and has a prefix 'lldb-rpc-server'. Please file a bug and attach the most recent crash log. I have raised feedback for this, FB17702087, but I hope that there may be a workaround. The code I am using to try and get this to work is from The Apple Developer Documentation - JSON Decoder var greeting = "JSON Test 3" struct GroceryProduct: Codable { var name: String var points: Int var description: String? } let json = """ { "name": "Durian", "points": 600, "description": "A fruit with a distinctive scent." } """.data(using: .utf8)! let decoder = JSONDecoder() let product = try decoder.decode(GroceryProduct.self, from: json) print(product.name) // Prints "Durian" A screenshot of the playground showing the error The crash log (the file type has been changed to txt as ips file types cannot be selected for upload. lldb-rpc-server-2025-05-28-140832.txt

your payments from apple are on hold
Hi everyone, I'm an indie developer and I'm currently dealing with a confusing and concerning issue with Apple. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced something similar. 🔻 What happened: I’m based in Poland and recently opened a sole proprietorship. A few days before the issue, I updated my W-8BEN tax form (correcting my personal ID to my business tax ID – NIP). Then, one day before my scheduled monthly payout, I received an email from Apple saying: "Your payments are on hold – we’ve noticed irregular activity on your account." All payments were suddenly put on hold with no specific reason given. My app remains live and available on the App Store. I wasn’t warned ahead of time, and there’s no detailed explanation from Apple so far. 🔸 My questions: Has anyone else had all their payments withheld right before payout like this? What were the reasons in your case (tax issues, account verification, “irregular activity”, etc.)? How long did it take to resolve, and did Apple eventually release the funds? I’ve contacted Apple Finance, but responses so far have been generic and slow. Any advice, experience, or clarification would be extremely appreciated — this payout is essential for covering my operating costs, and being left without funds so suddenly is pretty rough.

Refactor->Rename "Refactoring Engine Failure"
