Missing Entitlement. The bundle ... is missing entitlement 'com.apple.developer.networking.networkextension'."
Hello everyone, I'm encountering an issue while trying to publish an app on TestFlight. The app in question is Home Assistant, which I've compiled from the source. I am able to compile and install the app on my device without any problems. My company's developer account is properly configured, and I have set Xcode to automatically manage the provisioning profile. The archive is also created successfully, but when I attempt to upload it to Apple Store Connect for testing via TestFlight, I receive the following error: ERROR: [ContentDelivery.Uploader] Asset validation failed (90525) Missing Entitlement. The bundle 'Home Assistant.app/PlugIns/HomeAssistant-Extensions-PushProvider.appex' is missing entitlement 'com.apple.developer.networking.networkextension'. (ID: ceac6dcc-9c76-412e-8ea7-f2d2845f8013) I've made several attempts to resolve this issue to no avail. For instance, if I add the missing capability manually, then I am informed that the provisioning profile is incorrect. However, checking the network extension settings on my company's dev account, I see nothing related to push notifications, which are located elsewhere. Thus, I am stuck in a loop where either the provisioning file is correct but the entitlement is missing, or if the entitlement is present, then the provisioning profile is deemed incorrect. iPhone failure to get IP from DHCP on WiFi model RN171
I have written an App which extracts data, over WiFi, from an instrument that creates its own WiFi Hotspot. The instrument provides no internet connection. The iPad version of this App is connects fine and is assigned an IP address by DHCP server running on a MicroChip RN171 wifi module. iOS assigns an obscure IP address on a completely different subnet. I understand this is iOS' way of "Complaining" that is wasn't assigned an IP address. Consequently in the case of the iPhone I am forced to manually assign an IP address for the iPhone, the mask and the gateway. Only then is the connection successful. Anyone know why the iPhone won't talk DHCP to a WiFi module not connected to the internet? Are there perhaps some parameters that I need to adjust on either the iPhone or WiFi module?

Importing files to Files.app in iOS 26 Simulator
In previous versions of the simulator, it was possible to import files into the Files app by dragging them from the Finder into the Simulator. It appears that in the iOS 26 Simulator, this opens the file in Safari. I've only tried it with .json files so far. The documentation at https://developer.apple.com/documentation/xcode/sharing-data-with-simulator says that the original behaviour should happen: To add files to Simulator, select one or more files in Finder on your Mac, then click the Share button. Select Simulator from the share destination list. Choose the simulated device from the drop-down list. Simulator opens the Files app, and lets you select where to save the files. I'd love to learn if this is intentional behaviour, and if so, what workarounds there might be. I use this pattern quite a lot, as I have a HealthKit app, and I've built a system that allows me to export workouts as JSON files from a real device, that I can then import into a simulator for testing. Edit: I found a workaround. Make a folder in Files.app, then search for it within ~/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices. Open the folder in Finder, then add any files you want to be available in the Simulator.

Xcode 26.4: IBOutlets/IBActions gutter circles missing — cannot connect storyboard to code (works in 26.3)
I’m seeing a regression in Xcode 26.4 where Interface Builder will not allow connecting IBOutlets or IBActions. Symptoms: The usual gutter circle/dot does not appear next to IBOutlet / IBAction in the code editor Because of this, I cannot: drag from storyboard → code drag from code → storyboard The class is valid and already connected to the storyboard (existing outlets work) Assistant Editor opens the correct view controller file Important: The exact same project, unchanged, works perfectly in Xcode 26.3. I can create and connect outlets/actions normally there. ⸻ Environment Xcode: 26.4 macOS: 26.4 Mac Mini M4 Pro 64G Ram Project: Objective-C UIKit app using Storyboards This is a long-running, ObjC, project (not newly created) ⸻ What I’ve already tried To rule out the usual suspects: Verified View Controller Custom Class is correctly set in Identity Inspector Verified files are in the correct Target Membership Verified outlets are declared correctly in the .h file: @property (weak, nonatomic) IBOutlet UILabel *exampleLabel; Opened correct file manually (not relying on Automatic Assistant) Tried both: storyboard → code drag code → storyboard drag Tried using Connections Inspector Clean Build Folder Deleted entire DerivedData Restarted Xcode Updated macOS to 26.4 Ran: sudo xcodebuild -runFirstLaunch Confirmed required platform components installed Reopened project fresh ⸻ Observations In Xcode 26.4 the outlet “connection circles” are completely missing In Xcode 26.3 they appear immediately for the same code Existing connections still function at runtime — this is purely an Interface Builder issue ⸻ Question The gutter circles appearance has always been flaky in Xcode over the 13+ years I've been using it but now with 26.4 they have completely disappeared. Has anyone else seen this in Xcode 26.4, or found a workaround? At this point it looks like a regression in Interface Builder, but I haven’t found any mention of it yet.

App Review Issue
It has been approximately three weeks since we submitted our app for review via App Store Connect, but it remains "In Review" and the review process has not been completed. For this reason, we also requested an expedited app review to the App Review Team last week. Will the review proceed if we simply wait? Is there any way to check the detailed status of this app review?

Unable to download iOS simulator runtime 26.x on Xcode
Hi everyone, I'm experiencing a persistent issue for months now where I'm unable to download the iOS 26 simulator Runtime. I've tried reinstalling Xcode and also Xcode Beta but same issue. iOS 26 Simulator is also not on developers download page, so manual installation is impossible. And sadly I can't compile any code without having iOS 26 simulator installed. Anyone able to get passed this? Hardware: M1 Pro OS: Tahoe 26.1 Heres the error Download failed. Migrating SwiftUI lifecycle to UIKit's
Hi, everyone I have an app already in production that uses SwiftUI's lifecycle (paired with an AppDelegate). Due to some specific behaviour of the app, we decided to migrate the app to use UIKit's lifecycle, adding the corresponding SceneDelegate to the app, as well as modifying the Info.plist file accordingly to accommodate to these new changes. Although everything seems to work when installing the app from zero, when installing it on top of another version, the screen goes black and the user cannot interact with the app at all unless they reinstall it completely. As I've read online, iOS is reusing the window configuration from the previous execution of the app. I know this because the AppDelegate's application(application:connectingSceneSession:options) is not being called when coming from a previous version of the app. I would love to know what can I do to make this work because, as you may understand, we cannot ask our user base to reinstall the application. Thank you very much.

HCE in iPhone
Hello, maybe anyone know anything about HCE (Host card emulation) feature on iOS? As far as I read, it's not possible to achieve this functionality on iOS, but maybe there are plans to implement that? Or maybe it's clear that it wont be allowed to be used at all? Thanks:)

Unable to receiveMessage: after NEHotspotConfiguration setup
(iOS 17.3) I'm using the Apple supplied iOS sample project "ConfiguringAWiFiAccessoryToJoinTheUsersNetwork" as a base to write an App to configure an existing WiFi device using the NEHotspotConfiguration API's. I have almost everything working, and can join the network and send a packet to the device to configure it. I know that it is working as the device responds properly to what I send it. But I am not able to receive the response back from the device to the packet sent. (Only need 1 packet sent and 1 packet received) However. If I run a packet sniffer on the phone before running my test App, then I do get a response. No packet sniffer running, no response. When I do a debugDescription on the NWConnection after it reaches ".ready", I notice that when the sniffer is running I'm using loopback lo0: [C1 connected 192.168.4.1:80 tcp, url: http://192.168.4.1:80, attribution: developer, path satisfied (Path is satisfied), viable, interface: lo0] and I get a packet response in the NWConnection receiveMessage callback. But with no sniffer running, I get interface en0: [C1 connected 192.168.4.1:80 tcp, url: http://192.168.4.1:80, attribution: developer, path satisfied (Path is satisfied), viable, interface: en0[802.11], ipv4, dns, uses wifi] and there is no callback to the receiveMessage handler and the NWconnection eventually times out. The interface used seems to be the only difference that I can see when I have a sniffer running. Any ideas as to why I can't see a response in "normal" operation?

CallKit UI with speaker button is not functional - Only speaker mode is enabled
An issue with the CallKit UI, specifically regarding the functionality of the speaker button. When a user initiates a video call with CallKit and then, using the existing CallKit session, initiates an audio call, there are no issues with CallKit or the audio. However, if the user terminates the video call from the CallKit UI, the active CallKit session ends. To resume the ongoing audio call, we report a new CallKit call upon the end call trigger. While there are no issues with this reporting, the CallKit UI does not provide an audio route for the built-in receiver, and the speaker button remains unresponsive. IPA was build on SDK 18 and running on iOS beta 26. Issue is NOT seen with SDK18 and running iOS 18.x or lower devices. Feedback - FB18855566

iOS App Crashes after install but not when running from Xcode
I have an odd issue I'm trying to troubleshoot. I have an app that is deployed to our enterprise and works on almost all of our devices. Lately, I have devices (very small number) where the app installs from our MDM and it crashes upon launch, it does not get past the launch screen. If I remove and reinstall the app from the MDM it still crashes. I decided to put the devices in developer mode and if I run the App from Xcode on the device it works fine. If I stop it and run it right from the device it also works. If I do a final build of the app and install it using "Devices and Simulators", the app crashes upon launch. Using "Devices and Simulators" I check for crash log for the app and no file. I am stumped as to whats going on.

Accessing security scoped URLs without calling url.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource
I have discovered a gap in my understanding of user selected URLs in iOS, and I would be grateful if someone can put me right please. My understanding is that a URL selected by a user can be accessed by calling url.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource() call. Subsequently a call to stopAccessingSecurityScopedResource() is made to avoid sandbox memory leaks. Furthermore, the URL can be saved as a bookmark and reconstituted when the app is run again to avoid re-asking permission from the user. So far so good. However, I have discovered that a URL retrieved from a bookmark can be accessed without the call to url.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource(). This seems contrary to what the documentation says here So my question is (assuming this is not a bug) why not save and retrieve the URL immediately in order to avoid having to make any additional calls to url.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource? Bill Aylward You can copy and paste the code below into a new iOS project to illustrate this. Having chosen a folder, the 'Summarise folder without permission' button fails as expected, but once the 'Retrieve URL from bookmark' has been pressed, it works fine. import SwiftUI import UniformTypeIdentifiers struct ContentView: View { @AppStorage("bookmarkData") private var bookmarkData: Data? @State private var showFolderPicker = false @State private var folderUrl: URL? @State private var folderReport: String? var body: some View { VStack(spacing: 20) { Text("Selected folder: \(folderUrl?.lastPathComponent ?? "None")") Text("Contents: \(folderReport ?? "Unknown")") Button("Select folder") { showFolderPicker.toggle() } Button("Deselect folder") { folderUrl = nil folderReport = nil bookmarkData = nil } .disabled(folderUrl == nil) Button("Retrieve URL from bookmark") { retrieveFolderURL() } .disabled(bookmarkData == nil) Button("Summarise folder with permission") { summariseFolderWithPermission(true) } .disabled(folderUrl == nil) Button("Summarise folder without permission") { summariseFolderWithPermission(false) } .disabled(folderUrl == nil) } .padding() .fileImporter( isPresented: $showFolderPicker, allowedContentTypes: [UTType.init("public.folder")!], allowsMultipleSelection: false ) { result in switch result { case .success(let urls): if let selectedUrl = urls.first { print("Processing folder: \(selectedUrl)") processFolderURL(selectedUrl) } case .failure(let error): print("\(error.localizedDescription)") } } .onAppear() { guard folderUrl == nil else { return } retrieveFolderURL() } } func processFolderURL(_ selectedUrl: URL?) { guard selectedUrl != nil else { return } // Create and save a security scoped bookmark in AppStorage do { guard selectedUrl!.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource() else { print("Unable to access \(selectedUrl!)"); return } // Save bookmark bookmarkData = try selectedUrl!.bookmarkData(options: .minimalBookmark, includingResourceValuesForKeys: nil, relativeTo: nil) selectedUrl!.stopAccessingSecurityScopedResource() } catch { print("Unable to save security scoped bookmark") } folderUrl = selectedUrl! } func retrieveFolderURL() { guard let bookmarkData = bookmarkData else { print("No bookmark data available") return } do { var isStale = false let url = try URL( resolvingBookmarkData: bookmarkData, options: .withoutUI, relativeTo: nil, bookmarkDataIsStale: &isStale ) folderUrl = url } catch { print("Error accessing URL: \(error.localizedDescription)") } } func summariseFolderWithPermission(_ permission: Bool) { folderReport = nil print(String(describing: folderUrl)) guard folderUrl != nil else { return } if permission { print("Result of access requrest is \(folderUrl!.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource())") } do { let contents = try FileManager.default.contentsOfDirectory(atPath: folderUrl!.path) folderReport = "\(contents.count) files, the first is: \(contents.first!)" } catch { print(error.localizedDescription) } if permission { folderUrl!.stopAccessingSecurityScopedResource() } } }

iOS 26 fails to automatically switch to [system settings - personal hotspot ] directly from application ]
On iOS 18 and lower version, my application supports automatically switching to [System settings - Personal Hotspot] directly. But on iOS 26, my application will be redirected to [System settings- Apps]. Does iOS 26 disable the behavior of directly jumping to the system hotspot page? If support, could you share the API for iOS 26?

I have discovered a gap in my understanding of user selected URLs in iOS, and I would be grateful if someone can put me right please. My understanding is that a URL selected by a user can be accessed by calling url.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource() call. Subsequently a call to stopAccessingSecurityScopedResource() is made to avoid sandbox memory leaks. Furthermore, the URL can be saved as a bookmark and reconstituted when the app is run again to avoid re-asking permission from the user. So far so good. However, I have discovered that a URL retrieved from a bookmark can be accessed without the call to url.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource(). This seems contrary to what the documentation says here So my question is (assuming this is not a bug) why not save and retrieve the URL immediately in order to avoid having to make any additional calls to url.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource? Bill Aylward You can copy and paste the code below into a new iOS project to illustrate this. Having chosen a folder, the 'Summarise folder without permission' button fails as expected, but once the 'Retrieve URL from bookmark' has been pressed, it works fine. import SwiftUI import UniformTypeIdentifiers struct ContentView: View { @AppStorage("bookmarkData") private var bookmarkData: Data? @State private var showFolderPicker = false @State private var folderUrl: URL? @State private var folderReport: String? var body: some View { VStack(spacing: 20) { Text("Selected folder: \(folderUrl?.lastPathComponent ?? "None")") Text("Contents: \(folderReport ?? "Unknown")") Button("Select folder") { showFolderPicker.toggle() } Button("Deselect folder") { folderUrl = nil folderReport = nil bookmarkData = nil } .disabled(folderUrl == nil) Button("Retrieve URL from bookmark") { retrieveFolderURL() } .disabled(bookmarkData == nil) Button("Summarise folder with permission") { summariseFolderWithPermission(true) } .disabled(folderUrl == nil) Button("Summarise folder without permission") { summariseFolderWithPermission(false) } .disabled(folderUrl == nil) } .padding() .fileImporter( isPresented: $showFolderPicker, allowedContentTypes: [UTType.init("public.folder")!], allowsMultipleSelection: false ) { result in switch result { case .success(let urls): if let selectedUrl = urls.first { print("Processing folder: \(selectedUrl)") processFolderURL(selectedUrl) } case .failure(let error): print("\(error.localizedDescription)") } } .onAppear() { guard folderUrl == nil else { return } retrieveFolderURL() } } func processFolderURL(_ selectedUrl: URL?) { guard selectedUrl != nil else { return } // Create and save a security scoped bookmark in AppStorage do { guard selectedUrl!.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource() else { print("Unable to access \(selectedUrl!)"); return } // Save bookmark bookmarkData = try selectedUrl!.bookmarkData(options: .minimalBookmark, includingResourceValuesForKeys: nil, relativeTo: nil) selectedUrl!.stopAccessingSecurityScopedResource() } catch { print("Unable to save security scoped bookmark") } folderUrl = selectedUrl! } func retrieveFolderURL() { guard let bookmarkData = bookmarkData else { print("No bookmark data available") return } do { var isStale = false let url = try URL( resolvingBookmarkData: bookmarkData, options: .withoutUI, relativeTo: nil, bookmarkDataIsStale: &isStale ) folderUrl = url } catch { print("Error accessing URL: \(error.localizedDescription)") } } func summariseFolderWithPermission(_ permission: Bool) { folderReport = nil print(String(describing: folderUrl)) guard folderUrl != nil else { return } if permission { print("Result of access requrest is \(folderUrl!.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource())") } do { let contents = try FileManager.default.contentsOfDirectory(atPath: folderUrl!.path) folderReport = "\(contents.count) files, the first is: \(contents.first!)" } catch { print(error.localizedDescription) } if permission { folderUrl!.stopAccessingSecurityScopedResource() } } }

Trying to use this in Dev release 1 I get errors saying no such modifier. Was this functionality released in Dev Release 1 or am I using it incorrectly?

On iOS 18 and lower version, my application supports automatically switching to [System settings - Personal Hotspot] directly. But on iOS 26, my application will be redirected to [System settings- Apps]. Does iOS 26 disable the behavior of directly jumping to the system hotspot page? If support, could you share the API for iOS 26?
