What are the Apple Developer Forums?

The Apple Developer Forums are a great place to post questions and share comments on a variety of development topics with fellow developers and Apple engineers. Apple Developer Program members and MFi licensees can participate in forums related to their membership. Members and Registered Apple Developers can also view discussions on non-prerelease topics throughout all forums.

I'm an Apple Developer Program member. Which forums do I have access to?

Each Apple Developer Program has its own forum. Members can sign in to the Apple Developer Forums with the Apple ID they used to enroll.

How do I start using the Apple Developer Forums?

The first time you sign in to the forums, you will be prompted to agree to the Apple Developer Forums Use Agreement. You will then be asked to create a screen name. Choose a memorable screen name that is between 3 and 30 characters in length using upper or lower case characters, numerals, but no special characters. It will be visible to all other members and cannot be changed later. Sign in.

What are the Apple Developer Forums Usage Guidelines?

  1. Be Kind

    1. Make everyone feel welcome.
    2. When asking questions, search the forums and docs first, and provide as much context as possible.
    3. Offer constructive encouragement, and partial answers, whenever possible.
    4. Avoid misleading, rude, derogatory, or bullying language and screen names.
  2. Be Topical

    1. Ask questions in the right topic area.
    2. Only discuss seeds in the confidential forums.
    3. If there is a problem with Apple software or documentation, please file a bug report.
    4. For problems with third-party software (e.g., compatibility with new seeds), contact the developer directly.
    5. Take non-technical issues to Apple Developer Program Support, iTunes Connect, or Apple Support.
    6. Don't speculate on unannounced products or rumors.
    7. Avoid gossip, rants, solicitation, and self-promotion.
  3. Be Careful

    1. Avoid sharing personally-identifiable information.
    2. Obey the law.
    3. Only discuss public, supported APIs.
    4. Don't try to circumvent the Developer Agreement or help others to do so.
    5. If you're not sure what to do, ask us first.
    6. Report any posts you feel may violate these guidelines.

Who are the Apple Developer Forums personnel?

Apple Moderators - Apple Employees who focus on ensuring a productive environment for technical discussions. Apple Moderators have the authority to edit, delete, and branch posts, and may intervene if a discussion has gone off-topic or become counterproductive.

Apple Employees - Members of Apple engineering or technical support who participate in technical discussions. Apple Employees may offer useful advice in their areas of expertise, but should not be considered spokespeople or enforcers of Apple Developer Forums policy.
