App Size Increased by 30MB After Adding Push Notification Extension in React Native App
Hello everyone, I've recently added a push notification extension to my React Native app to track specific notification events. The extension itself is quite lightweight, with minimal code – just enough to handle and log some event data. However, I've noticed that the overall app size has increased by around 30MB since adding this extension, which seems unusually high given the simplicity of the code. I inspected the extension's executable file, and it's showing up as 29MB, which doesn’t align with the amount of code I added. I’m wondering if this is expected behavior or if there’s something I can do to reduce the extension's size. Has anyone else encountered a similar issue or found ways to optimize extension sizes? Any guidance on reducing the size of my app post-extension would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your help!

I want to pay
I have tried to mail the Apple Developer Team so many times now. In desperation, I was even prepared to pay twice should another $99 go through if I didn't hear anything back from Apple on my first payment. I would like to pay my $99 so that I can get registered and start launching my app. Please help? Where can I go to get someone to attend to my repeated communication.

App Groups: How to use group. prefix and Team ID prefix for Multiplatform apps?
Hi there, I have a Multiplatform app with just one app target with an iPhone, iPad and Мас Destination. On the Mac my app is a developer singed App that is being distributed outside of the Mac App Store. I want to use App Groups, but as long as there are multiple destinations, Xcode only allows Group Identifiers starting with group.. However, for macOS I need to have a group ID that starts with the TeamID as explained here. So I created two separate entitlements, which are identical, but with different group IDs: With Automatic Code Signing enabled, I get this warning: Xcode still seems thinks it has to use the macOS Group ID for the iOS version. In the App Groups section, the mac Group ID is red and the iOS Group ID is not checked. The app builds and runs without issues on all platforms. The App Store Connect validation (for the iOS version) also works without any errors. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need a separate Mac target because Xcode does not support separate Group IDs for Multiplatform apps?

Validate fail Archive bundle is invalid Unable to load ‘Info.plist’ for bundle at path
This bundle is invalid. Unable to load ‘Info.plist’ for bundle at path: ‘My App.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/MyApp-SpotlightIndex.mdimporter’.. This mdimporter is embedded in my app with a Copy step in Build Phases and when I Archive the compiled app, I get that error when I try to Validate. The app works OK, the mdimporter Spotlight works OK, all runs fine. But the Validate on the Archive does not work, it fails with that error.

macOS App Archive Validation Failed mdimporter Info.plist
…How do I figure out what is wrong to be able to upload the app to the store with its signed mdimporter embedded? mdimporter in macOS project, compiled separately, signed and bundle dropped into Xcode app project. Runs fine but trying to upload to Apple App Store for macOS one runs an Xcode > Product > Archive command and I get this error… Xcode > Organizer > Products > Archives … Validation Failed Asset validation failed This bundle is invalid. Unable to load ‘Info.plist’ for bundle at path: ‘MyApp.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/MyApp-SpotlightIndex.mdimporter’.. (UUID-shown-here) The Info.plist of the mdimporter is in the separate mdimporter Xcode project, the bundle is compiled as Build for Running and was dropped and copied into the Xcode app project. Runs fine. Any ideas on how to get that to NOT FAIL so I can succeed with my app Archive to upload to the Apple App Store? How to find out what is wrong? How to fix? I'm at a loss here.

What files used by Xcode can I delete?
I ran out of disk space and I think I've come to the point that I need to delete files used by Xcode. Can I delete Simulator altogether? It doesn't look like I can run the latest Xcode without iOS 18 installed with it on my Mac Pro. Is there any way I can exclude iOS 18 support using the current Xcode? Would it be a good option to uninstall the latest Xcode and use a previous version of Xcode instead, since I'm not developing for iOS 18? Since I've been working on only macOS apps, is it possible for me to delete anything that has to do with developing for iOS?

Xcode (Cloud) vs. Playground App
Hej hej tl;dr. I have problems building a Playground App using Xcode Cloud and I created a reference repository to reproduce this. Did anyone try this before and succeeded? Maybe you have a hint about what's going wrong here. Initial Failure I followed the documentation for Building Swift packages and Swift Playgrounds app projects with Xcode Cloud and I have always run into the following error message: ❌ Code Signing Exporting for App Store Distribution failed. Please download the logs artifact for more information Check Logs “Fair game!” I thought, checked out the logs and see this error appearing twice in each of the following steps: Export archive for ad-hoc distribution Export archive for development distribution Export archive for app-store distribution 5.3 Sec. Run command: 'xcodebuild -exportArchive -archivePath /Volumes/workspace/tmp/3546d064-74fa-42d0-8b36-3623e18941be.xcarchive -exportPath /Volumes/workspace/adhocexport -exportOptionsPlist /Volumes/workspace/ci/ad-hoc-exportoptions.plist '-DVTPortalRequest.Endpoint=http://172.16.35.199:8089' -DVTProvisioningIsManaged=YES -IDEDistributionLogDirectory=/Volumes/workspace/tmp/ad-hoc-export-archive-logs -DVTSkipCertificateValidityCheck=YES -DVTServicesLogLevel=3' Error Command exited with non-zero exit-code: 70 Moving forward, I downloaded the logs artifact as suggested earlier. This is IDEDistribution.standard.log: 2024-10-27 11:15:04 +0000 [MT] Starting export with options: {"embedOnDemandResourcesAssetPacksInBundle":true,"teamID":"38R2LLP8AF","stripSwiftSymbols":true,"thinning":"<none>","iCloudContainerEnvironment":"Development","destination":"export","reformatterBundleIdentifier":"hamburg.plus.encore","uploadSymbols":true,"raiseProfileSupportOptionalToRequired":false,"buildNumber":"4","testFlightInternalTestingOnly":false,"manageAppVersionAndBuildNumber":false,"method":"ad-hoc","generateAppStoreInformation":false} This is IDEDistribution.critical.log (actually it's three times this single error, but I'll spare you the repetition): 2024-10-27 11:15:04 +0000 [MT] -[IDEDistributionMethodManager orderedDistributionMethodsForTask:archive:logAspect:]: Error = Error Domain=IDEDistributionMethodManagerErrorDomain Code=2 "Unknown Distribution Error" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Unknown Distribution Error} And this is an excerpt (of hopefully relevant details) of IDEDistribution.verbose.log (again, this happens three times, only giving the relevant data points here): … 2024-10-27 11:15:04 +0000 [MT] Rejected distribution method <IDEDistributionMethodiOSAdHoc: 0x600001590100> because it doesn't support distributing archive … 2024-10-27 11:15:04 +0000 [MT] Rejected distribution method <IDEDistributionMethodiOSAppStoreValidation: 0x6000015900f0> because it doesn't support distributing archive … 2024-10-27 11:15:04 +0000 [MT] Rejected distribution method <IDEDistributionMethodiOSAppStoreDistribution: 0x600001590120> because it doesn't support distributing archive … 2024-10-27 11:15:04 +0000 [MT] Rejected distribution method <IDEDistributionMethodiOSAdHoc: 0x600001590100> because it doesn't support distributing archive … 2024-10-27 11:15:04 +0000 [MT] Available distribution methods: {( <IDEDistributionMethodSaveBuiltProducts: 0x6000015f8060>, <IDEDistributionMethodExportArchive: 0x6000015f8070> )} Investigate Xcode Archive (*.xcarchive) At this point, I downloaded the Xcode archive from AppStoreConnect and realized that it only contained debug symbols for the app, but not the app itself. > ls -la /Users/herzi/Downloads/….xcarchive/Products total 0 drwxrwxr-x@ 2 herzi staff 64 27 Okt 12:21 . drwxrwxr-x@ 5 herzi staff 160 27 Okt 12:22 .. Notice the absence of the Applications folder that would contain the Application.app bundle. Current Status So I created a clean, sample repository for my integration. Did anyone try this before and succeeded? Maybe you have a hint about what's going wrong here.

Xcode Cloud - cannot see repository
Hello, Im trying to add my project to Xcode Cloud. Not first time. Now I'm getting this error: "To create a Xcode Cloud workflow, first add a remote source code repository from BitBucket, GitHub, or GitLab." Of course this project has origin (GitHub) and I'm using it with Xcode actively. Xcode 16.0, iOS app target 17.6. Sonoma - latest. What am I doing wrong? :)

Xcode Cloud workflows are not being started (Pull Request Changes)
Any Xcode Cloud workflow with 'Pull Request Changes' as one of its start conditions has suddenly stopped working altogether. The workflow is never started. This issue seems to have begun within the last 48 hours. Removing the 'Pull Request Changes' start condition makes the workflows functional again. The test I just ran to confirm this: Created a new Xcode Cloud workflow Selected Start Conditions: 'Pull Request Changes' from/into any branch, when any files are changed Selected Test as the 'Actions' Created a pull request on my github repository The workflow was never started Added 'Branch Changes' to the Start Conditions, specifying branch-a under 'Custom Branches' Pushed to branch-a The workflow was never started Removed 'Pull Request Changes' from the Start Conditions Pushed to branch-a The workflow finally started Curious if others are having this issue? And if so, is there a timeline for when this will be resolved? I have confirmed that our Github actions are configured properly, and believe this is indeed an issue with Xcode Cloud.

IBInspectable was deprecated.
I noticed that IBDesignable was deprecated in the Xcode 16 release notes, and IBInspectable was deprecated in the Xcode 16.1 release notes. So, I performed some tests on IBDesignable and IBInspectable in Xcode. I wrote the following code: @IBDesignable extension UIView { @IBInspectable var cornerRadius: CGFloat { get { layer.cornerRadius } set { layer.cornerRadius = newValue } } @IBInspectable var borderWidth: CGFloat { get { layer.borderWidth } set { layer.borderWidth = newValue } } @IBInspectable var borderColor: UIColor { get { UIColor(cgColor: layer.borderColor ?? .init(red: 1, green: 1, blue: 1, alpha: 0)) } set { layer.borderColor = newValue.cgColor } } } I cannot access the IBInspectable property in Xcode 16. However, I can access the IBInspectable property in Xcode 16.1 and Xcode 16.2 Beta, where the Interface Builder shows it in the Attributes Inspector. Is it possible that this will be updated later, as it differs from the release notes? Thank you.

Error with duplicate Device
I'm new to iOS development, although I've been through some basic tutorials. I never went as far as publishing an app. I hope what I describe makes sense to someone who has gone through the process. I was tasked with updating our iOS app as the previous developer is no longer with the company I was invited to the team by the admin so I have access to all devices/profiles/certificates in the dev portal. The problem: In the step of linking the UDID to this profile, an error occurs, this device identifier has been duplicated. Not sure how this is possible if I can't add one with the same UDID? So I disabled the two duplicates, thinking this would allow me to add the new entry. No, same error. And now, I can't even reactivate ANY of the other two that I previously deactivated because there is already a device with the same UDID in the list!

Unable to add package dependencies in Package Manager
Hi, I try to add the Firebase requirements to my iOS application. I launched the package manager, at first, nothing was loading, therefore I deleted and recreated my Github account, and the previous packages now appears. When I try to paste the url for Firebase in the search bar, there is an infinite loading loop and it never appears. I tried to restart Xcode several times, to disconnect and reconnect from wifi etc. Can anyone help me solve this please?

Simulator package issues
Hi! My simulator will not build because there is essentially a package conflict. I am adding Firebase to a Flutter application. Simulator built before trying to add firebase but now I'm getting errors telling me a package can't be found even though it's installed Output Package Loading (Xcode): Missing package product 'FirebaseCore' .../ios/Runner.xcodeproj I added target 'Runner' do use_frameworks! use_modular_headers! pod 'FirebaseDatabase' pod 'FirebaseAnalytics' pod 'FirebaseMessaging' pod 'FirebaseCore' pod 'FirebaseFunctions' pod 'FirebaseAppCheck' pod 'FirebaseFirestore' pod 'FirebaseStorage' pod 'FirebaseDynamicLinks' pod 'FirebaseAuth' flutter_install_all_ios_pods File.dirname(File.realpath(__FILE__)) target 'RunnerTests' do inherit! :search_paths end end and ran pod install with no errors. Opening the runnner.xcworkspace shows all of the named packages under "Frameworks, Libraries, and Embedded Content' I've tried manually adding through Xcode those packages but then get a conflict error, so I am out of ideas as to how to fix this. It appears to be something new with the latest MacOS update as I've seen another person with the same problem that started after he updated... I've also cleaned, re-installed, re-booted a few times because My Android emulator builds fine Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
