How to index file based documents in Core Spotlight
I read this thread https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/788979 thoroughly, but I’m still confused regarding indexing files content. I'm building a notes app where the notes are stored in files. A file can contain several notes (think paragraphs). Each note and the file document itself have a unique ID, all embedded in the file. So far so good, when the user opens a file in the app, I index all the notes in it using several CSSearchableItem, one for each note. Each CSSearchableItem gets a unique ID based on the note and file IDs. The notes are then visible in Spotlight search and when the user taps one of them, the app is called with a Spotlight activity and I present the note. I learned that I should create a CSImportExtension to allow the system to index files when app is not running. But the only method is update(_:forFileAt:), which allows to provide back to the system a single attributes set. How can I index the notes in a file as separate items? What happens if an iCloud document file is edited remotely and the app is not running, or is editing another file? Does the system detect it and run CSImportExtension on the file? All the notes and documents IDs are unique, and when the user duplicates the document file from within the app, new unique IDs are set in the duplicate file. But the user can also duplicate files outside the app, in which case the IDs remain the same in the duplicate file. How does Spotlight react to indexing two distinct items, with the same ID, but different 'contentURL'? What if I index a note from a file, and set the current contentURL of the file, and then the user moves the file. Next time when I index a note from this file, Spotlight will get an item with the same uniqueIdentifier but with a different contentURL. Won't this confuse the system? How to handle the case of deleted files: Unless a file is pending editing, the app doesn’t know it has been deleted, so it won’t remove the corresponding items from Spotlight. I should mention that I use a Core Data database, which stores the mapping from file document IDs to file URLs, actually to bookmarks, so I can track the files even if the user renames or moves them.

Caller ID is truncated on IOS 18
We use call directory extension in one of our applications, we notice that call id is truncated on IOS 18. Example: "Grady GmbH" instead of "GRADY ARCHIE, PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPER GMBH" We notice also if we have calls in the history then the caller id is shown correctly. Issue only on IOS 18.

App sometimes crashes when inserting String into Set with assertion ELEMENT_TYPE_OF_SET_VIOLATES_HASHABLE_REQUIREMENTS
Xcode downloaded a crash report for my app that crashed when trying to insert a String into a Set<String>. Apparently there was an assertion failure ELEMENT_TYPE_OF_SET_VIOLATES_HASHABLE_REQUIREMENTS. I assume that this assertion failure happened because the hash of the new element didn't match the hash of an equal already inserted element, but regardless, I don't understand how inserting a simple string could trigger this assertion. Here is essentially the code that leads to the crash. path is any file system directory, and basePath is a directory higher in the hierarchy, or path itself. var scanErrorPaths = Set<String>() func main() { let path = "/path/to/directory" let basePath = "/path" let fileDescriptor = open(path, O_RDONLY) if fileDescriptor < 0 { if (try? URL(fileURLWithPath: path, isDirectory: false).checkResourceIsReachable()) == true { scanErrorPaths.insert(path.relativePath(from: basePath)!) return } } extension String { func relativePath(from basePath: String) -> String? { if basePath == "" { return self } guard let index = range(of: basePath, options: .anchored)?.upperBound else { return nil } return if index == endIndex || basePath == "/" { String(self[index...]) } else if let index = self[index...].range(of: "/", options: .anchored)?.upperBound { String(self[index...]) } else { nil } } } crash.crash

codesign stubbornly failing
I'm trying to sign a .app package coming from Py2app. Unfortunately I keep running into the same two issues: The binary is not signed with a valid Developer ID certificate. and The signature does not include a secure timestamp. I tried everything, from recreating the signatures, with different arguments, different keys and certificates, but it keeps complaining with these two errors on a long list of files. For reference I added the python script I use for signing the files. code_singing.py

Membership renewal
Hello. My developer membership is expired. I cannot renew because the renewal option/button does not appears in any device. A banner tells me: "Any apps you had on the App Store are no longer available for download and you can no longer access membership benefits. If you’d like to renew your membership to reinstate your apps and membership benefits, open the Apple Developer app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Sign in to your account, tap/click Renew, and follow the prompts. If you agreed to the Paid Applications Agreement, you’ll need to agree to it again after renewal in the Agreements, Tax and Banking section of App Store Connect." However, there's no "Renew" to tap or click anywhere in the app nor in the web. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

Navigation title in master splitview panel wrong colour with dark mode and hard scrollEdgeEffect
The navigation title color is wrong (dark on dark background) when applying hard scrolledgeeffectstyle. Illustrated by code example. In simulator or physical device. Changing scrollEdgeEffectStyle to soft resolves the issue. As does changing the listStyle. @main struct AppView: App { var body: some Scene { WindowGroup { NavigationSplitView { NavigationStack { Section { NavigationLink(destination: OptionsView()) { Label("More Options", systemImage: "gearshape") } .isDetailLink(false) } header: { Text("WITH OPTIONS").bold() } .navigationTitle("TESTING") } } detail: { Text("DETAIL") } .preferredColorScheme(.dark) } } } struct OptionsView: View { var body: some View { List { Text("List Item") } .listStyle(.plain) .navigationTitle("MORE OPTIONS TITLE") .scrollEdgeEffectStyle(.hard, for: .all) } } Submittted FB20811402 Bug appears in Landscape mode for iPhone only. Not receiving Sandbox Server-to-Server Notifications for In-App Purchases (App Store Server Notifications v2)
I’m testing auto-renewable subscription purchases in the sandbox environment. When I buy a subscription package using a sandbox test user, I don’t receive any App Store Server Notifications from the sandbox. However, when I use the “Request Test Notification” option in App Store Connect, the notification is received successfully. My sandbox server notification URL is configured correctly and publicly accessible. I also call finishTransaction() after purchase, and the receipt is verified successfully with the sandbox verification endpoint. To further debug, I used the getNotificationHistory API to fetch notifications for yesterday and today (Nov 3–4, 2025). Apple’s API response does not include any notifications or transaction IDs for my today’s purchases (Nov 4, 2025) — even though I can confirm from logs that those transactions were completed and verified successfully. It looks like sandbox purchase notifications are not being sent or logged, even though test notifications work fine. Could someone from Apple please confirm if there’s currently an issue with sandbox server notifications for auto-renewable subscriptions?

Keyboard Toolbar Padding iOS26
When I create a SwiftUI toolbar item with placement of .keyboard on iOS 26, the item appears directly on top of and in contact with the keyboard. This does not look good visually nor does it match the behavior seen in Apple's apps, such as Reminders. Adding padding to the contents of the toolbar item only expands the size of the item but does not separate the capsule background of the item from the keyboard. How can I add vertical padding or spacing to separate the toolbar item capsule from the keyboard?

App occasionally fails to connect to Access Point (iPhone17 / iOS26)
Hi, My app uses the NetworkExtension framework to connect to an access point. For some reason, my app occasionally fails to find and/or connect to my AP (which I know is online and beaconing on a given frequency). This roughly happens 1/10 times. Change to safe area logic on iOS 26
I have a few view controllers in a large UIKit application that previously started showing content right below the bottom of the top navigation toolbar. When testing the same code on iOS 26, these same views have their content extend under the navigation bar and toolbar. I was able to fix it with: if #available(iOS 26, *, *) { self.edgesForExtendedLayout = [.bottom] } when running on iOS 26. I also fixed one or two places where the main view was anchored to self.view.topAnchor instead of self.view.safeAreaLayoutGuide.topAnchor. Although this seems to work, I wonder if this was an intended change in iOS 26 or just a temporary bug in the beta that will be resolved. Were changes made to the safe area and edgesForExtendedLayout logic in iOS 26? If so, is there a place I can see what the specific changes were, so I know my code is handling it properly? Thanks!

iPadOS 26 - Status bar overlaps with navigation bar
Hello, I'm experiencing a navigation bar positioning issue with my UIKit iPad app on iPadOS 26 (23A340) using Xcode 26 (17A321). The navigation bar positions under the status bar initially, and after orientation changes to landscape, it positions incorrectly below its expected location. This occurs on both real device (iPad mini A17 Pro) and simulator. My app uses UIKit + Storyboard with a Root Navigation Controller. A stack overflow post has reproduce the bug event if it's not in the same configuration: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/79752945/xcode-26-beta-6-ipados-26-statusbar-overlaps-with-navigationbar-after-presen I have checked all safe areas and tried changing some constraints, but nothing works. Have you encountered this bug before, or do you need additional information to investigate this issue?

BGContinuedProcessingTask what's the point?
Hi, This post is coming from frustration of working on using BGContinuedProcessingTask for almost 2 weeks, trying to get it to actually complete in the background after the app is backgrounded. My process will randomlly finish and not finish and have no idea why. I'm properly using and setting task?.progress.totalUnitCount = [some number] task?.progress.completedUnitCount = [increment as processed] I know this, because it all looks propler as long as the app insn't backgrounded. So it's not a progress issue. The task will ALWAYS complete. The device has full power, as it is plugged in as I run from within Xcode. So, it's not a power issue. Yes, the process will take a few minutes, but I thought that is BGContinuedProcessingTask purpose in iOS 26. For long running process that a user could place in the background and leave the app, assuming the process would actually finish. Why bother introducing a feature that only works with short tasks that don't actually need long running time in the first place.

macOS 26: Menu bar icon not showing for Python app running PySide6
Since macOS 26, including the latest 26.1, the menu bar icon does not show up for our app called Plover which is built with PySide6 (based on Qt 6) and runs via a relocatable python that is packaged into the app. The code is open source and can be found on GitHub. The latest release, including the notarized DMG, can be found here. When running the .app via the command below, the menu bar icon does show up but the process that is running is python3.13 and not Plover: /Applications/Plover.app/Contents/MacOS/Plover -l debug When running the app by just clicking on the application icon, the process is Plover but the menu bar icon is not showing - also not in the settings (Menu Bar > Allow in the Menu Bar). Before macOS 26, the menu bar icon was always shown. Some pointers to potentially relevant parts of our code: shell script that builds the .app Info.plist plover_launcher.c trayicon.py This problem might be related to this thread, including the discussion around Qt not calling NSApplicationMain. What I'm trying to figure out is whether this is a problem with macOS 26, Qt 6, PySide6, or our code. Any pointers are highly appreciated!

How to correctly fetch data using SwiftData
Hi there! I'm making an app that stores data for the user's profile in SwiftData. I was originally going to use UserDefaults but I thought SwiftData could save Images natively but this is not true so I really could switch back to UserDefaults and save images as Data but I'd like to try to get this to work first. So essentially I have textfields and I save the values of them through a class allProfileData. Here's the code for that: import SwiftData import SwiftUI @Model class allProfileData { var profileImageData: Data? var email: String var bio: String var username: String var profileImage: Image { if let data = profileImageData, let uiImage = UIImage(data: data) { return Image(uiImage: uiImage) } else { return Image("DefaultProfile") } } init(email:String, profileImageData: Data?, bio: String, username:String) { self.profileImageData = profileImageData self.email = email self.bio = bio self.username = username } } To save this I create a new class (I think, I'm new) and save it through ModelContext import SwiftUI import SwiftData struct CreateAccountView: View { @Query var profiledata: [allProfileData] @Environment(\.modelContext) private var modelContext let newData = allProfileData(email: "", profileImageData: nil, bio: "", username: "") var body: some View { Button("Button") { newData.email = email modelContext.insert(newData) try? modelContext.save() print(newData.email) } } } To fetch the data, I originally thought that @Query would fetch that data but I saw that it fetches it asynchronously so I attempted to manually fetch it, but they both fetched nothing import SwiftData import SwiftUI @Query var profiledata: [allProfileData] @Environment(\.modelContext) private var modelContext let fetchRequest = FetchDescriptor<allProfileData>() let fetchedData = try? modelContext.fetch(fetchRequest) print("Fetched count: \(fetchedData?.count ?? 0)") if let imageData = profiledata.first?.profileImageData, let uiImage = UIImage(data: imageData) { profileImage = Image(uiImage: uiImage) } else { profileImage = Image("DefaultProfile") } No errors. Thanks in advance
