Xcode 13 beta | Failed to build module 'Network' for importation due to the errors above; the textual interface may be broken by project issues or a compiler bug
I have a project which has iOS 10.0 deployment target in which I import Network framework in some class and conditionally using it depending on the host app’s iOS version.   With Xcode 13 beta 4(13A5201i), I am able to compile and run the project successfully while debugging on iPhone device but it gives below error. This was working fine with Xcode 12.5.1 /Applications/Xcode-beta.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS15.0.sdk/usr/lib/swift/Network.swiftmodule/armv7-apple-ios.swiftinterface:1254:19: 'NWConnection' is only available in iOS 12.0 or newer /Applications/Xcode-beta.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS15.0.sdk/usr/lib/swift/Network.swiftmodule/armv7-apple-ios.swiftinterface:1254:1: Add @available attribute to enclosing extension /Application/NWBrowserManager.swift:10:8: Failed to build module 'Network' for importation due to the errors above; the textual interface may be broken by project issues or a compiler bug

L2TP VPN broken on MacOS 13/Ventura
Dove in and upgraded two Macs today to beta 1. Unfortunately, it appears L2TP VPN is broken or something changed in the way it works. I can longer get a connection to any VPN concentrator I used previously. I tested with Cisco Anyconnect SSL VPN client and can connect to the same concentrators (as they're configured to accept L2TP or SSL clients). I also tested from my phone running iOS 16 beta and it still works for the L2TP connections. The Mac not working with L2TP VPN ppp.log shows this Fri Jun 10 19:18:52 2022 : L2TP connecting to server 'IP removed' (IP removed)... Fri Jun 10 19:18:52 2022 : IPSec connection started Fri Jun 10 19:18:52 2022 : IPSec phase 1 client started Fri Jun 10 19:19:02 2022 : IPSec connection failed Connecting a Mac successfully on 12.4 the log shows Fri Jun 10 19:12:33 2022 : L2TP connecting to server 'IP removed' (IP removed)... Fri Jun 10 19:12:33 2022 : IPSec connection started Fri Jun 10 19:12:33 2022 : IPSec phase 1 client started Fri Jun 10 19:12:33 2022 : IPSec phase 1 server replied Fri Jun 10 19:12:34 2022 : IPSec phase 2 started Fri Jun 10 19:12:34 2022 : IPSec phase 2 established Fri Jun 10 19:12:34 2022 : IPSec connection established (and then a ton more lines of the entire process ending with client getting an IP that I won't bother posting) VPN wasn't high on my list of apps I was concerned about breaking with the beta. But, now that it is broke and I need it for work I'm kinda screwed myself. Anyway, if anyone knows a way to fix this please let me know.

iOS16: localIdentifier of PHAsset gets changed after saving to camera roll
Environment: iOS 16 beta 2, beta 3. iPhone 11 Pro, 12 mini Steps to reproduce: Subscribe to Photo Library changes via PHPhotoLibraryChangeObserver, put some logs to track inserted/deleted objects: func photoLibraryDidChange(_ changeInstance: PHChange) { if let changeDetails = changes.changeDetails(for: allPhotosFetchResult) { for insertion in changeDetails.insertedObjects { print("🥶 INSERTED: ", insertion.localIdentifier) } for deletion in changeDetails.removedObjects { print("🥶 DELETED: ", deletion.localIdentifier) } } } Save a photo to camera roll with PHAssetCreationRequest Go to the Photo Library, delete the newly saved photo Come back to the app and watch the logs: 🥶 INSERTED:  903933C3-7B83-4212-8DF1-37C2AD3A923D/L0/001 🥶 DELETED:  39F673E7-C5AC-422C-8BAA-1BF865120BBF/L0/001 Expected result: localIdentifier of the saved and deleted asset is the same string in both logs. In fact: It's different. So it appears that either the localIdentifier of an asset gets changed after successful saving, or it's a bug in the Photos framework in iOS 16. I've checked - in iOS 15 it works fine (IDs in logs match).

How to handle IPv6 link-local addresses in iOS 16?
Our (legacy) code to communicate with peripherals on local IPv6 networks (LAN) adds the zone identifier / interface name ("%en0") to link-local IP addresses (FE80::/10) discovered via SSDP. SSDP is implemented using CocoaAsyncSocket - yes, that part of our code is old... (from before the introduction of the iOS 12+ Network framework). We use these modified IP addresses as the host component of a URL in a URLSession.dataTask. To insert the zone identifier we are using URLComponents (we modify the host and then request the string). This worked fine in iOS 15 and below, but no longer works in iOS 16 (Beta 1/2/3); the host is empty after inserting %en0 in the most recent beta. We have reported this via FB10549269, but from the answer it is unclear to me whether Apple is planning to fix this ("Resolution: Potential fix identified"), or we are doing it wrong. How should we handle IPv6 link-local addresses in iOS 16? (when using URLSession instead of Network) PS: We recently dropped support for iOS 12, but we still need to support iOS 13 and up

I'm confused about WatchKit and WidgetKit and Watch Apps... Help!
Sorry for the length of this post, and all the questions. I have an iOS app written in Objective-C (too big to convert to Swift right now), and I successfully added a WatchKit app and WatchKit Extension some years ago. I also added Home Screen widgets when iOS 14 was released. With the iOS 16 betas I'd like to support Lock Screen widgets, and have also decided to move the WatchKit app/extension to SwiftUI. User journey: MyApp is launched and an item with an image is created. This item is stored in Core Data and its image is stored in a directory in the app's documents directory. A version of it is stored in NSUserDefaults in a shared app group. The user adds a Home Screen widget to show that item. Its data is pulled from the defaults, and the image is loaded from the document's directory. The user installs the Watch app and launches it. The Watch app looks inside the user defaults to retrieve the item. The iOS app sends the image to the Watch and the Watch app stores it locally (it's a small image, taking up barely a few Kb). This all works fine right now. Currently I have these targets: MyApp = main iOS app. MyApp WatchKit = Watch app storyboards and asset catalogs. MyApp WatchKit Extension = code to update the Watch interface. MyApp Widget = Home Screen widgets. MyApp IntentHandler = dynamic intents handler for the Home Screen widgets. Q1. Where do I put the code for the Lock Screen widgets? I figure these go into the My App Widget target because they're widgets and appear on the iPhone? In this video (https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2022/10050) at 07:00 it tells you to duplicate the existing Widget target, change the bundle, change it to run on watchOS and embed it in your existing Watch App. As my original Watch App is written in Objective-C (MyApp WatchKit Extension, above) I can't/shouldn't do that, so... Q2. I think I have to create a new MyApp Watch App target, and perform the video steps on that target? I can create the views for that app, no problem. Most people update to the latest watchOS, and it's only now that watchOS 9 won't support Watch Series 3. Q3. Do I need to keep MyApp WatchKit and MyApp WatchKit Extension around? I can support older versions of watchOS if it helps my users, but they'll probably want to use the new version of watchOS, right? Can you install both versions of the app on your Watch (with watchOS 9), or does the new Swift app override the old WatchKit extension? Q4. Once I've designed the new Watch App's views in SwiftUI to replace the old WatchKit extension, where do I put the code for the complications that are being replaced? The WWDC 2022 videos (above, and a couple linked to on that page) have confused me a bit. Do I put complications views in the new MyApp Watch App target along with the other views that replace the old Watch app, or in MyApp Widget? Q5. The MyApp Widget target contains a bunch of code (WidgetUtils.swift) that populates the Home Screen widgets (and the new Lock Screen widgets), and it would fit right into the new MyApp Watch App target. Can I share that code between the two app targets just by adding WidgetUtils.swift to both target's membership? MyApp sends small images to the current MyApp WatchKit Extension. There's no code in the existing WidgetUtils.swift to handle file transfers because the images for the Home Screen widgets are pulled from the iOS app, so I need to write that in Swift for the new MyApp Watch App. The logic is already there in the old target, but I can't see any sort of equivalent to the WatchKit extension delegate where I currently handle the file transfers. Q6. Where does that go in MyApp Watch App? The existing MyApp WatchKit Extension occasionally asks MyApp for some new data. This is all done in the extension delegate which wakes up the iOS app and updates the NSUserDefaults which the extension then reads from. Q7. How do you do that in MyApp Watch App? Don't be afraid to be verbose in your responses. The more detail the better! Thank you in advance.

External drives reported as "lifs"
We have noticed in macOS Ventura betas 2-5 (didnt test beta 1) that external drives seem to be reported as “lifs” through statfs which breaks important features in our app. Drives show correctly in disk utility, but not through statfs in our app or a sample app we created. Are you aware of this issue? If so is there a fix being scheduled, or a workaround?

ScrollViewProxy scrollTo will crash when scrolling outside of bounds of previous (not current) List data source/array in iPad and iOS 16 beta
Hi, It seems that there's a bug in the iOS and iPadOS 16 betas (i've not test in macOS 13 yet), that when after updating a List data source with a bigger array, scrolling to a row of an offset bigger than the previous data array, with ScrollViewProxy, will crash the app with an EXC_BREAKPOINT (code=1, subcode=0x1099d6004) error. Below I attached a sample code to reproduce the crash. In it when opening there's an empty list. When pressing the "Randomize & Select Last" button at the top, the list will be filled with 5 random UUIDs, followed by scrolling to the last row. The app will crash on the second try, when it will try to scroll to an offset bigger than the previous data array (the last row). As a control there's an "Randomize & Select Random" button that will behave more or less like the "Randomize & Select Last" button but will choose a random row to select and scroll. It will only crash if this select row if of an offset bigger that the size of the previous array. This doesn't happen in iOS 15. I've already posted the Radar as FB11302966, however if someone has any toughs on how to solve this problem (or what I'm doing wrong) they are welcome. Sample code: ///A simple data model for the demo. Only stores an UUID. struct DataModel: Identifiable, Hashable { let id: UUID = UUID() var nameUUID: String { id.uuidString } } struct ContentView: View { ///Array with some data to show @State private var data: [DataModel] = [] ///Selected row @State private var selection: DataModel? var body: some View { VStack(alignment: .leading) { HStack { //Create a new array for showing in the list. //This array will be bigger than the last one. //The selection will be the last element of the array (triggering the bug) Button { //Increment the size of the new List by 5 let numberElements = data.count + 5 //Create a new Array of DataModel with more 5 elements that the previous one let newData = (0 ..< numberElements).map { _ in DataModel() } //Select the last element of the array/list. //This will make sure that the scrollTo will go to the end let newSelection = newData.last //Update STate for the new values data = newData selection = newSelection } label: { Text("Randomize & Select Last") } Spacer() //Create a new array for showing in the list. //This array will be bigger than the last one. //The selection will be the a random element of the array (only triggering the bug when the element is ) Button { //Increment the size of the new List by 5 //If empty will start with 40 (reducing the odds of triggering the bug) let numberElements = data.count == 0 ? 40 : data.count + 5 //Create a new Array of DataModel with more 5 elements that the previous one let newData = (0 ..< numberElements).map { _ in DataModel() } //Select a random element of the array/list. //This will scroll if the element is 'inside' the previous list //Otherwise will crash let newSelection = newData.randomElement() //Update State for the new values data = newData selection = newSelection } label: { Text("Randomize & Select Random") } } .padding() //MARK: ScrollViewReader and List ScrollViewReader { proxy in List(data, selection: $selection) { dataElement in //Row (is only the UUID for the rows Text(dataElement.id.uuidString) .id(dataElement) .tag(dataElement) } //action that fires when data changes //it will scroll to the selection .onChange(of: data, perform: { newValue in if let selection { proxy.scrollTo(selection) } }) } } } }

iOS 16.0 beta 7 broke Text(Date(), style: .timer) in SwiftUI widgets
Hi, In my apps, the recent iOS 16.0 beta 7 (20A5356a) broke the .timer DateStyle property of the Text view, in a SwiftUI widget. In previous OS and beta, Text(Date(), style: .timer) was correctly displaying an increasing counter. In iOS 6.0 beta 7, Text(Date(), style: .timer) does not update anymore, (and is offset to the left). The other DateStyle (like .offset, .relative, ...) seems to update correctly. Anyone noticed that (very specific) problem ?

Older watch app with extension template, unable to load any saved data from UserDefault watchOS 9 beta 7
Hi all, I am working with an older watch app that still uses the older template that combines the WatchKit App and WatchKit App Extension targets. While trying to migrate the ClockKit complication to the new WidgetKit complication, I cannot get the widget complications to load anything from user defaults. It seems like the widget complications are not using the same user defaults as the watch app though being in the same App Group. I experimented with a new watch app using the new SwiftUI template and the WidgetKit complication was able to load data from user default successfully. Did anyone got WidgetKit complication to load data successfully from user default with the older watch app template? Thanks in advance!

AVSpeechSynthesizer problem in iOS 16 Beta
Setting a voice for AVSpeechSynthesizer leads to an heap buffer overflow. Turn on address sanitizer in Xcode 14 beta and run the following code. Anybody else experiencing this problem, is there any workaround? let synthesizer = AVSpeechSynthesizer() var synthVoice : AVSpeechSynthesisVoice? func speak() { let voices = AVSpeechSynthesisVoice.speechVoices()           for voice in voices {       if voice.name == "Daniel" {    // select e.g. Daniel voice         synthVoice = voice       }     }           let utterance = AVSpeechUtterance(string: "Test 1 2 3")           if let synthVoice = synthVoice { utterance.voice = synthVoice     }           synthesizer.speak(utterance) // AddressSanitizer: heap-buffer-overflow }

Xcode Beta Simulator on Mac OS Ventura Often Needs to Restart
Noticing that the simulator is often in some state that requires it to Quit and restart it. I often do this: CMD+R to run. Make changes. CMD+R to run (overwrite the existing session). The app (kinda) quits, but the screen is completely black. Like the app hasn't completely quit. The result is that Xcode just constantly says "Launching [App]...". And I have to quit the simulator.

Live Activity Not Working on Physical Device
I am playing around with Live Activities and got everything working on the iOS 16.1 beta 2 simulator using Xcode 14.1 beta 2 (14B5024i). However, running the same code on a real physical device (iPhone X) running iOS 16.1 beta 2 does not show the Live Activity on the lock screen at all. 😵 Did anyone get their Live Activity working on a real device yet, or is this an issue with the current beta? Things I have already checked: ActivityAuthorizationInfo().areActivitiesEnabled returns true on my physical device let activity = try Activity.request(...) successfully completes without throwing and I can see the activity.id printed to the console Other live activities - such as the iOS system timer activity - do show up on my physical device just fine

Unable to build project in Xcode 14.3 beta due to missing arc dir at /Applications/Xcode-beta.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/lib
Downloaded Xcode 14.3 this morning and it will not build the project. It fails building the CocoaPods project with this error: It varies which pod causes the failure, but always the first to link. cd'ing into there confirms that there is no arc dir. The regular Xcode app (Version 14.2 (14C18)) runs just fine. Any ideas? Potentially useful information: Project with objc, swift and c Uses CocoaPods Uses automatic reference counting macOS Ventura 13.2.1 (22D68) Version 14.3 beta (14E5197f)

Understanding the warning and how to fix it: Non-sendable cannot cross actor boundary
Hi all, I'm testing the first beta for iOS 16.4 and Xcode 14.3 and I'm getting these warnings that I kind of understand, but I don't know and I haven't found how to solve them. For example this code that is just a simplified example: @MainActor class ATextModel: ObservableObject {     @Published private(set) var record: CKRecord?     func getData() async {         let database = CKContainer.default().publicCloudDatabase         let query = CKQuery(recordType: "Test", predicate: NSPredicate(value: true))         do {             let results = try await database.records(matching: query)             self.record = try results.matchResults.first?.1.get()         } catch {             print("Error: \(error.localizedDescription)")         }     } } Is giving me 2 warnings: Non-sendable type '(matchResults: [(CKRecord.ID, Result<CKRecord, any Error>)], queryCursor: CKQueryOperation.Cursor?)' returned by call from main actor-isolated context to non-isolated instance method 'records(matching:inZoneWith:desiredKeys:resultsLimit:)' cannot cross actor boundary Non-sendable type 'CKQuery' exiting main actor-isolated context in call to non-isolated instance method 'records(matching:inZoneWith:desiredKeys:resultsLimit:)' cannot cross actor boundary Does someone has a hint on how I should do this now? This might be just an error in the beta, but I don't really think that.
