Hello! I have never distributed an apple app before. Right now, I am trying to distribute a macOS app. I created a provisioning profile of type "Developer ID Application" and it has the following capabilities enabled. Now, when I download the profile and use it for my app, xcode gives me the following error: Lmk what I need to do since I am super unfamiliar with this process.

I am a novice Swift developer. Referring to the Apple developer documentation and various blogs, I have written example code for DNS Proxy in Network Extension. I inherited NEDNSProxyProvider to create a DNSProxyProvider class in the Extension. Using NEDNSProxyManager and NEDNSSettingsManager, I created a simple app that calls saveToPreferences(...) after loadFromPreferences(...). When saveToPreferences(...) is called, I can confirm that the "DNS Proxy" item is added to the "System Preferences" in the "Enabled" state. However, upon further inspection using console logs, it seems that the init() constructor and startProxy(...) function of DNSProxyProvider are not being called. Additionally, upon checking the console logs: NESMDNSProxySession[Primary Tunnel:MyMyService:{GUID}:(null)] in state NESMVPNSessionStateStarting: plugin NEDNSProxyPlugin(xxxxx.xxxxxx.MyMyService[inactive]) started with PID 0 error Error Domain=NEAgentErrorDomain Code=2 "(null)" These logs are present. Could they be related to the issue? I tried to refer to the link below that seems like a similar issue, but I couldn't find a clear solution or hint. https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/130063 https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/680905 https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/675304 https://developers.apple.com/forums/thread/652708 https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/678399 I earnestly seek your assistance. Thank you.

3.5 weeks ago I submitted form https://developer.apple.com/contact/request/family-controls-distribution to get Family Controls entitlement for my app. I still not received any feedback at all...   Contacting Support also doesn't help... Is there any time limits for this request or any average time of waiting for feedback?

I am developing a carkey application. I have applied to MFi and have obtained a com.apple.developer.carkey.session entitlement. By setting session in Entitlement.plist, the program I created can call CarKeyRemoteControl.start and obtain the session. However, even if VehicleReport() is called, information cannot be obtained and the return value is always empty. In the iPhone standard Wallet, a button is displayed below CarKey, and you can lock and unlock it. My question is, com.apple.developer.carkey.session is set in Entitlement.plist, but do I need to set anything else, such as manufacturerIdentifier? . Also, if I need it, what format should I use? for example, What should I do if I want to specify "TEST" for manufacturerIdentifier?

Is there a way to get the new com.apple.developer.device-information.user-assigned-device-name entitlement to work with automatically managed signing, or is it required to change to manual signing to use this entitlement? Someone else had the same problem as me in this reply on another post: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/708275?answerId=730156022#730156022 but it was suggested they start a new thread but I don't think they started such a thread so I am. I was hoping, perhaps naively, that after getting approval for the entitlement and adding it to our entitlements file that it would "just work" but i'm getting the error: Provisioning profile "iOS Team Provisioning Profile: [redacted bundle id]" doesn't include the com.apple.developer.device-information.user-assigned-device-name entitlement. Really hoping to avoid having to manually manage signing or at least know for sure that it is unavoidable before I move to it.

Share Extension can access files from the Photos app but not the Files app. In case of the Photos app the file url is something like file:///var/mobile/... In case of the Files app the url stars with file:///private/var/mobile/... The following error is thrown in case of the Files app Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=260 "The file “file.pdf” couldn’t be opened because there is no such file." However the file is there, it was selected via the Files app and the share button was used to launch the Share Extension. Also the access to the file is within the following block url.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource() ... url.stopAccessingSecurityScopedResource() Another issue is that the Share Extension does not appear in the Settings / Privacy / Files and Folders. Here are the apps which have the "Applications that have requested access to files and folders will appear here". What is the solution to allow the Share extension access the files from the Files app ?

I'm developing an iOS app (latest Swift, iOS, Xcode versions atm of writing) which needs to rename audio files (and later modify its metadata) located anywhere (local storage, external storage, cloud, etc). I'm bringing my own question in StackOverflow but I'd like to know better from the source so I came here. The trouble comes when testing on a physical device while trying to rename a file in some folder On My iPhone, the app does as intended when testing on the Simulator. On my physical iPhone I get an error logged saying that I don't have the permissions to do that. “filename.mp3” couldn’t be moved because you don’t have permission to access “randomFolder". I did my googling and asked GPTs about it, learned about FileCoordinator, UIDocumentPickerViewController, startAccessingSecurityScopedResource. I also saw a couple of videos that I cannot reference in this forum. Some code I have in place: This is the document picker which I then call from a .sheet on another View. struct DocumentPicker: UIViewControllerRepresentable { @Binding var newName: String @EnvironmentObject private var bookmarkController: BookmarkController func makeUIViewController(context: Context) -> UIDocumentPickerViewController { let documentPicker = UIDocumentPickerViewController(forOpeningContentTypes: supportedTypes) documentPicker.delegate = context.coordinator return documentPicker } func updateUIViewController(_ uiViewController: UIDocumentPickerViewController, context: Context) { print("updateUIViewController documentPicker") } func makeCoordinator() -> Coordinator { Coordinator(self, newName) } class Coordinator: NSObject, UIDocumentPickerDelegate { var parent: DocumentPicker var newName: String init(_ parent: DocumentPicker, _ newName: String = "") { self.parent = parent self.newName = newName } func documentPicker(_ controller: UIDocumentPickerViewController, didPickDocumentsAt urls: [URL]) { // save bookmark print("documentPicker \(urls[0])") parent.bookmarkController.addBookmark(for: urls[0]) // Rename the file var error: NSError? NSFileCoordinator().coordinate(readingItemAt: urls[0], options: [], error: &error) { coordinatedURL in do { // let data = try Data(contentsOf: newURL) print("urls[0]: \(urls[0])") print("coordinatedURL: \(coordinatedURL)") print("renamedURL: \(newName)") try renameFile(at: coordinatedURL, to: newName) } catch { print("Error: \(error.localizedDescription)") } } } } } Renaming function: /// Rename selected file from browser func renameFile(at fileURL: URL, to newName: String) throws { let fileExtension = fileURL.pathExtension let directory = fileURL.deletingLastPathComponent() // Create a new URL with the updated name and the original extension let renamedURL = directory.appendingPathComponent(newName).appendingPathExtension(fileExtension) try FileManager.default.moveItem(at: fileURL, to: renamedURL) } I have a BookmarkController in place so that my URLs are bookmarked for later use. Here it is: import SwiftUI import MobileCoreServices class BookmarkController: ObservableObject { @Published var urls: [URL] = [] init() { loadAllBookmarks() } func addBookmark(for url: URL) { print("adding bookmark for \(url)") do { guard url.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource() else { print("Failed to obtain access to the security-scoped resource.") return } defer { url.stopAccessingSecurityScopedResource() } let bookmarkData = try url.bookmarkData(options: .minimalBookmark, includingResourceValuesForKeys: nil) let uuid = UUID().uuidString try bookmarkData.write(to: getAppSandboxDir().appendingPathComponent(uuid)) urls.append(url) } catch { print("Error Adding Bookmark: \(error.localizedDescription)") } } func loadAllBookmarks() { // Get all the bookmark files let files = try? FileManager.default.contentsOfDirectory(at: getAppSandboxDir(), includingPropertiesForKeys: nil) // Map over the bookmark files self.urls = files?.compactMap { file in do { let bookmarkData = try Data(contentsOf: file) var isStale = false // Get the URL from each bookmark let url = try URL(resolvingBookmarkData: bookmarkData, bookmarkDataIsStale: &isStale) guard !isStale else { // Handle stale bookmarks return nil } print("loaded bookmark: \(url)") // Return URL return url } catch { print("Error Loading Bookmark: \(error.localizedDescription)") return nil } } ?? [] } private func getAppSandboxDir() -> URL { // TODO ver 0 index FileManager.default.urls(for: .documentDirectory, in: .userDomainMask)[0] } } When running on my device, I see url.startAccessingSecurityScopedResource throwing: Failed to obtain access to the security-scoped resource. I have also tried getting access to the parent directory like this: let parentURL = url.deletingLastPathComponent() and then using parentURL instead, but it also fails. Something I noticed is that my app is not shown in the Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Files and Folders list. My app didn't trigger any dialog to be added here given user consent. Fiddling with entitlements in Info.plist and Capabilities did not help either, but I'm not so sure about which ones should I add. So: Could it be that the problem I'm seeing about permissions and my app not appearing at the Files and Folders privacy settings on my iPhone are because my app is signed with a developer account which is not in the apple developer program? this is my last thought since I'm not understanding what else should I try. Any pointers and help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi folks, For accessing the logs, I’m using OSLogStore object. I want to be able to read logs from any previous run of my application. I can of course do this: // Open the log store. var logStore = try OSLogStore(scope: .currentProcessIdentifier) But this only allows me to retrieve logs from my current running process. I can also do this: // Open the log store. var logStore = try OSLogStore(scope: .system) But this only works if my App Sandbox entitlement is false. I tried disabling the sandbox, and I was able to get to all the logs (which is good) but according to this page: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/security/app_sandbox/ it says: To distribute a macOS app through the Mac App Store, you must enable the App Sandbox capability Since we are planning on distributing our app on the store, this presents a big problem for me. (I didn't try submitting to TestFlight to see if it's really the case). I don’t know if there are exclusions or ways around this – I don’t see an entitlement that I can add which would allow access to the logs. Does anyone know a way around this? Thanks, David

hello, I work for a telecommunications company specializing in signal quality and field testing. We need to collect radio signal level measurements and L3 traces with iPhones. Since the chipset in the latest models is Qualcomm, we believe there is a possibility of using QXDM, but we're not sure how to proceed.

Hello everyone, I'm encountering an issue while trying to publish an app on TestFlight. The app in question is Home Assistant, which I've compiled from the source. I am able to compile and install the app on my device without any problems. My company's developer account is properly configured, and I have set Xcode to automatically manage the provisioning profile. The archive is also created successfully, but when I attempt to upload it to Apple Store Connect for testing via TestFlight, I receive the following error: ERROR: [ContentDelivery.Uploader] Asset validation failed (90525) Missing Entitlement. The bundle 'Home Assistant.app/PlugIns/HomeAssistant-Extensions-PushProvider.appex' is missing entitlement 'com.apple.developer.networking.networkextension'. (ID: ceac6dcc-9c76-412e-8ea7-f2d2845f8013) I've made several attempts to resolve this issue to no avail. For instance, if I add the missing capability manually, then I am informed that the provisioning profile is incorrect. However, checking the network extension settings on my company's dev account, I see nothing related to push notifications, which are located elsewhere. Thus, I am stuck in a loop where either the provisioning file is correct but the entitlement is missing, or if the entitlement is present, then the provisioning profile is deemed incorrect. Following https://developer.apple.com/documentation/coremotion/accessing_submersion_data I'm trying to "just get it started". I have a provisioning profile with the Shallow Depth and Pressure active, I have set the com.apple.developer.submerged-depth-and-pressure to true in the entitlements file, and get no errors or warning when compiling and starting the app on my Apple Watch Ultra. When my view appears, I init the submersion manager with the following code: guard CMWaterSubmersionManager.waterSubmersionAvailable else { return } submersionManager = CMWaterSubmersionManager() submersionManager?.delegate = self Logger.shared.info("SubmersionManager initialized") I get the printout SubmersionManager initialized, but then I get: An error occurred: The operation couldn’t be completed. (CMErrorDomain error 110.) Googling this error tells me this error means: CMErrorNotEntitled And I cannot find WHY the app is not entitled.. I find no information that this entitlement is not publicly available or anything.

Hello, What is the key for In-App Purchases entitlement I can add to my app.entitlements file in my project, so that I can autonomously enable the In-App Purchase capability? I have searched far a wide for this, however, it's unclear where it can be located. I know I can enable this capability manually by opening Xcode -> Selecting the "Signing & Capabilities" tab -> selecting "+ Capability" -> selecting "In-App Purchase" capability. However, this is not really an ideal solution for adding the capability to my app, especially when automated processes for building, testing, distributing via CI/CD are integrated. It would beneficial to be able to reference some documentation or resources for enabling capabilities (or any other build settings) autonomously in a project as opposed to having to manually click my way through enabling them. Looking forward to hearing back. Thanks!

The JournalingSuggestions API does not appear in Xcode App Playground projects undersigning and capabilities. I currently have Xcode Version 15.2 (15C500b), and I was hoping to see if anyone knew when or if it would be added to App Playgrounds (.swiftpm) in Xcode.
