Enable Cellular Data Usage Counter - eSIM
I have two eSIMs from different providers. One shows data usage in settings>Mobile Service>Mobile Data For ……. It shows ‘Current Period‘ and ‘Roaming ‘usage for this eSIM but not the other one. I have contacted the help desk for the provider and they say it’s not enabled. I am assuming they mean they have not set it on the sims provided Or in Carrier Bundle. Is there any way of enabling this through the device using any software tool etc.?? thanks in advance

Haptics seem to stop working in iOS 18.3 (22D5055b)
I checked the latest release notes for latest beta, and there doesn't seem to be a fix for this. But basically, the vibrations that you receive for when you long press a message to react, or hold down on an app in Home Screen, seem to stop working after a while. This issue is reoccurring randomly. Steps to repro: Not fully sure on this, but I'm on iPhone 16 pro max and running the iOS 18.3 dev beta described in the title. I have the default haptics enabled in which you receive a vibration when you long press on a message in iMessage or Messenger, and also when you long press on an app on the Home Screen. These seem to stop working, along with any other vibrations apart from calls and notifications) after a while. The only workaround is to restart the iPhone entirely. anyone else face the same?

Running a local LLM on Swift Playgrounds
I am trying to run TinyLlama directly using Swift Playgrounds for iOS. I have tried multiple solutions, like libraries (LLM.swift, swift-transformers, ...) which never worked due to import issues, and also tried importing an exported mlmodel. For the later, I followed the article about Llama 3.1 on CoreML. It was hard to understand how to do the inference with it, but I was able to export a mlpackage, that I then placed in a xcode project to generate the mlmodelc (compiled model) and the model class. I had to go with the first version described in the article, without optimizations, as I got errors during model loading with the flexible input shapes. I was able to run the model for one token generation. But my biggest problem is that, though the mlmodelc is only 550 MiB, th model loads 24+GiB of memory, largely exceeding what I can have on an iOS device. Is there a way to use do LLM inferences on Swift Playgrounds at a reasonable speed (even 1 token / s would be sufficient)?

App immediately crashes after re-opening with no crash report
I am trying to diagnose a very strange application crash that occurs intermittently under the following conditions App built in release and installed on iPhone App is in the background (e.g. close the app and open a different app without fully force quitting it) When these conditions are present, and I re-open the application by clicking on it's icon on the home screen, the app shows briefly on the screen and then immediately quits. This happens maybe 50% of the time when these conditions are present, but it does not create a crash report and there are no jetsam reports from the time of the crash either. I was able to capture a sysdiagnose immediately after the crash (within 3 seconds), and I have reviewed the logs to help me determine a possible cause, but none of the logs seem to be causing it. I am putting some potentially relevant log lines below, and I am attaching the logarchive. Additionally, the entire application is open source here on github, and the crashing :( version of the app is available here on the app store. Note this crash does not happen in the macOS version. Finally, I saw a previous thread that recommended adding atexit {abort()} to an app that doesn't produce a crash report, so I added that here before collecting these logs and I still don't get a crash report. Here are some log lines may be relevant, but none of them provide a reason for app termination. >>> MY APP IS OPENED default 2025-01-25 13:16:11.060118 -0500 runningboardd com.apple.runningboard monitor Calculated state for app<com.msdrigg.roam(95D1E2E9-9609-44D9-A30A-0C4AEA990A0D)>: running-active (role: UserInteractiveFocal) (endowments: <private>) default 2025-01-25 13:16:11.060132 -0500 runningboardd com.apple.runningboard process [app<com.msdrigg.roam(95D1E2E9-9609-44D9-A30A-0C4AEA990A0D)>:1758] Set jetsam priority to 100 [0] flag[1] default 2025-01-25 13:16:11.060132 -0500 runningboardd com.apple.runningboard ttl [app<com.msdrigg.roam(95D1E2E9-9609-44D9-A30A-0C4AEA990A0D)>:1758] Resuming task. default 2025-01-25 13:16:11.060185 -0500 runningboardd com.apple.runningboard ttl [app<com.msdrigg.roam(95D1E2E9-9609-44D9-A30A-0C4AEA990A0D)>:1758] Set darwin role to: UserInteractiveFocal info 2025-01-25 13:16:11.062002 -0500 CommCenter com.apple.CommCenter ul BundleID: com.msdrigg.roam is a foreground app >>> XPC says something about XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INTERRUPTED com.apple.mDNSResponder Default [R9386->Q40264] Question assigned DNS service 125 default 2025-01-25 13:16:11.067097 -0500 Roam com.apple.xpc connection [0x300b94900] Re-initialization successful; calling out to event handler with XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INTERRUPTED default 2025-01-25 13:16:11.067152 -0500 Roam com.apple.runningboard monitor Received state update for 1758 (app<com.msdrigg.roam(95D1E2E9-9609-44D9-A30A-0C4AEA990A0D)>, unknown-NotVisible info 2025-01-25 13:16:11.068357 -0500 Roam com.apple.coreaudio >>>MY APP RUNS AND STARTS LOGGING ON ITS OWN default 2025-01-25 13:16:11.109376 -0500 Roam com.msdrigg.roam ECPWebsocketClient Clearing handlers default 2025-01-25 13:16:11.109378 -0500 Roam com.msdrigg.roam ECPWebsocketClient No longer in error b/c restarting default 2025-01-25 13:16:11.109419 -0500 Roam com.msdrigg.roam ECPWebsocketClient Ignoring state change because it is the same connecting at 2025-01-25 18:16:11 +0000 >>> XPC Connection invalidated default 2025-01-25 13:16:11.146441 -0500 runningboardd com.apple.runningboard process XPC connection invalidated: [app<com.msdrigg.roam(95D1E2E9-9609-44D9-A30A-0C4AEA990A0D)>:1758] >>> Launchd reports app exit default 2025-01-25 13:16:11.150861 -0500 launchd user/501/UIKitApplication:com.msdrigg.roam[6159][rb-legacy] [1758] exited due to SIGPIPE | sent by Roam[1758], ran for 4930203ms default 2025-01-25 13:16:11.150876 -0500 launchd user/501/UIKitApplication:com.msdrigg.roam[6159][rb-legacy] [1758] service state: exited Logs split due to size being too big :( roam-crash.1.log roam-crash.2.log roam-crash.3.log roam-crash.4.log roam-crash.5.log roam-crash.6.log

Swift Package Manager - Package Download Issue
We have developed a custom iOS framework called PaySDK. Earlier we distributed the framework as PaySDK.xcframework.zip through GitHub (Private repo) with two dependent xcframeworks. Now, one of the clients asking to distribute the framework through Swift Package Manager. I have created a new Private repo in the GitHub, created the new release (iOSSDK_SPM_Test) tag 1.0.0. Uploaded the below frameworks as Assets and updated the downloadable path in the Package.Swift and pushed to the GitHub Main branch. PaySDK.xcframework.zip PaySDKDependentOne.xcframework.zip PaySDKDependentTwo.xcframework.zip When I try to integrate (testing) the (https://github.com/YuvaRepo/iOSSDK_SPM_Test) in Xcode, am not able to download the frameworks, the downloadable path is pointing to some old path (may be cache - https://github.com/YuvaRepo/iOSSDK_SPM/releases/download/1.2.0/PaySDK.xcframework.zip). Package.Swift: // swift-tools-version:5.3 import PackageDescription let package = Package( name: "iOSSDK_SPM_Test", platforms: [ .iOS(.v13) ], products: [ // Products define the executables and libraries a package produces, making them visible to other packages. .library( name: "iOSSDK_SPM_Test", targets: ["PaySDK", "PaySDKDependentOne", "PaySDKDependentTwo"] ) ], targets: [ // Targets are the basic building blocks of a package, defining a module or a test suite. // Targets can depend on other targets in this package and products from dependencies. .binaryTarget( name: "PaySDK", url: "https://github.com/YuvaRepo/iOSSDK_SPM_Test/releases/download/1.0.0/PaySDK.xcframework.zip", checksum: " checksum " ), .binaryTarget( name: "PaySDKDependentOne", url: "https://github.com/YuvaRepo/iOSSDK_SPM_Test/releases/download/1.0.0/PaySDKDependentOne.xcframework.zip", checksum: " checksum " ), .binaryTarget( name: "PaySDKDependentTwo", url: "https://github.com/YuvaRepo/iOSSDK_SPM_Test/releases/download/1.0.0/PaySDKDependentTwo.xcframework.zip", checksum: " checksum " ), .testTarget( name: "iOSSDK_SPM_TestTests", dependencies: ["PaySDK", "PaySDKDependentOne", "PaySDKDependentTwo"] ) ] ) Steps I followed: I have tried below steps, Removed the local repo and cloned new rm -rf ~/Library/Caches/org.swift.swiftpm/ rm -rf ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/* Can anyone help to identify the issue and resolve? Thanks in advance.

How to detect if picture-in-picture is hidden at the edge of the device
0 I am developing a custom Picture in Picture (PiP) app that plays videos. The video continues to play even when the app goes to the background, but I would like to be able to get the bool value when the PiP is hidden on the edge, as shown in the attached image. The reason why we need this is because we don't want the user to consume extra network bandwidth, so we want to pause the video when the PiP is hidden on the edge of the screen. Please let me know if this is possible. This can be done in the foreground or in the background.

dlopen on development iPhone codesign issue
Hi, For the purposes of iteration speed in development builds, on an iPhone in development mode, I am attempting to use hot reloaded dylibs. The goal is that the app is rarely fully restarted and small code changes can be applied quickly, drastically reducing iteration speed. For this purpose I have a socket server on my Mac that sends changed dylibs to my app on my iPhone. This works great on Mac, however on iOS i am running into codesigning problems. I am using the following to codesign the dylib: codesign -f -s XXX --timestamp=none testlibrary-ios.dylib I am placing the downloaded dylib in this folder: const char* cachedirectoryPath = [NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSCachesDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES)[0] UTF8String]; dlopen gives me the following error: dlopen(/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/67A3D31B-6F72-4939-9E7F-665FC78CDC61/Library/Caches/testlibrary-ios.dylib, 0x000A): tried: '/usr/lib/system/introspection/testlibrary-ios.dylib' (no such file, not in dyld cache), '/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/67A3D31B-6F72-4939-9E7F-665FC78CDC61/Library/Caches/testlibrary-ios.dylib' (code signature invalid in <78A101AD-D756-3526-8754-8B7F4925DE90> '/private/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/67A3D31B-6F72-4939-9E7F-665FC78CDC61/Library/Caches/testlibrary-ios.dylib' (errno=1) sliceOffset=0x00000000, codeBlobOffset=0x0000C2E0, codeBlobSize=0x00004990), .... Is loading a dylib like this on iPhones in development mode possible? Any idea what is going wrong with codesigning or installing the dylib? (Obviously this code is never deployed in an app that goes on the AppStore)

Text To Speech does not work on Iphone 12 simulator
I'm writing an app that uses text to speech. On the physical Iphone 12 it works but on the simulator I don't get any speech from my app. I tried the following to enable. Settings -> Accessebility -> "Spoken Content" -> "Speak Selecton" to ON (green) in Voices I added the German Anna that I use on my Iphone with the downloaded enhancements. The speech test works in this menu but not in my app. What am I missing ? Cheers, Gerhard

Developer Forum Name Change
I have been waiting for months to get the name of my account on the developer forum changed. I had initially set it up as Playbrainiacs to match my solely owned company name. However, some other people started using "Playbrainiac" without the s at the end, in their websites etc. causing confusion. They also refused to sell the url to me for a reasonable price. I applied for a Trademark with USTPO in the name Playbrainiacs but it was denied due to a company in Canada with a name called PlayBrainy. Given my small budget I decided to abandon it and forgo the needless lawyer costs. Consequently I changed my company name to "Gigi Sehgal LLC" and removed the name Playbrainiacs everywhere. BUT Apple developer forum support has STILL not updated the name here. This is becoming a marketing and legal liability for me. Anybody have insights in how to get this fixed soon? My App was approved however I turned encryption on and am now waiting on the classification category code for the same from the US Govt ( that has also been pending for over a month )

Xcode 16.2 iOS error = CFMessagePort
Hi, After updating to Xcode 16.2, I am getting an error running all iOS apps. I'm using Sequioa 15.2. Error creating the CFMessagePort needed to communicate with PPT. I ran the default Hello World app and got the same error message (plus another error not showing up on my apps - Failed to send CA Event for app launch measurements for ca_event_type: 1 event_name: com.apple.app_launch_measurement.ExtendedLaunchMetrics). Can I ignore the error or is it truly affecting my app (all are testflight versions and it's fine if I don't update them for awhile, although not ideal). Hopefully someone can help! Thanks, -Ashley

Phone app and CallDirectory
Prior to iOS18, the incoming/outgoing call history display in the Phone app matched the CallDirectory content, but starting with iOS18, changing the information tied to the same number results in the incoming/outgoing call history not matching the CallDirectory content, as it remains unchanged before the change. Is this a strongly intended change? If not, we would like to have it reverted back to the way it worked before iOS18. Befor iOS18 Register the target phone number and name1 to CallRirectory Incoming call using the target phone number The target phone number and name1 is recorded as an incoming call history Register the target phone number and name2 to CallRirectory Incoming call using the target phone number again The target phone number and name2 is recorded as an incoming call history Also 1st incoming call history’s name is changed to name2 After iOS18 Register the target phone number and name1 to CallRirectory Incoming call using the target phone number The target phone number and name1 is recorded as an incoming call history Register the target phone number and name2 to CallRirectory Incoming call using the target phone number again The target phone number and name2 is recorded as an incoming call history But 1st incoming call history’s name is still name1 Why does this difference occur?

Getting a datagram too large error while writing back to NEAppProxyUDPFlow
I am trying to setup an extension using DNSProxyProvider that intercepts the DNS traffic on UDP and inserts our custom device identifier and send it to our custom DNS Server which gives us the response which I forward to the requesting client. I have been able to append the identifier with the domain name when sending out request to our custom DNS and I am getting the response back just fine but when I try to write the response to the udpflow I get this error in Console Logs. Error Domain=NEAppProxyFlowErrorDomain Code=9 "The datagram was too large" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=The datagram was too large} Here is what I have tried so far. Truncating the datagram size to less than 10 bytes. Sending in dummy Data object while trying to write to the flow. Double checking the Signing and Capabilities, for Targets, the App and Network Extension. Attached below is code from my NEDNSProxyProvider. The DNS request is process in the handleNewFlow function which calls processUDPFlow override func handleNewFlow(_ flow: NEAppProxyFlow) -> Bool { if flow is NEAppProxyTCPFlow { NSLog("BDDNSProxyProvider : Is TCP Flow...") } else if let udpFlow = flow as? NEAppProxyUDPFlow { NSLog("BDDNSProxyProvider: handleNewFlow : \(udpFlow)") processUDPFlow(udpFlow) // < -- } return true } In the code below I concatenate domain name in the request with deviceId and send it to our server. Also have the Logs lines in, please ignore them. // Read incoming DNS packets from the client self.udpAppProxyFlow = udpFlow udpFlow.readDatagrams { datagrams, error in if let error = error { NSLog("Error reading datagrams: \(error.localizedDescription)") return } guard let datagrams = datagrams else { NSLog("No datagrams received.") return } // Forward each DNS packet to the custom DNS server for (index, packet) in datagrams.enumerated() { let dnsMessage = self.parseDNSMessage(from: packet.0) NSLog("tDatagram Header: \(dnsMessage.header)") for question in dnsMessage.questions { NSLog("tDatagram Question: \(question.name), Type: \(question.type), Class: \(question.klass)") } for answer in dnsMessage.answers { NSLog("tDatagram Answer: \(answer.name), Type: \(answer.type), Data: \(answer.data)") } let oldDomain = self.extractDomainName(from: packet.0)! let packetWithNewDomain = self.replaceDomainName(in: packet.0, with: "827-\(oldDomain)") // func to append device ID NSLog("Packet's new domain \(self.extractDomainName(from: packetWithNewDomain ?? packet.0) ?? What am I missing here and how can I resolve this issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Troubles with CFBundleDocumentTypes and photos
I'm working on adding CFBundleDocumentTypes to my Info.plist so that a user can share an image from other apps on their device and have it open inside my iPhone app. I seem to be able to get this to work for sharing a single photo from the Photos app, but not for (1) multiple photos from the Photos app or (2) images from Safari. One thing that makes this difficult is that my changes to Info.plist sometimes have no effect. I can remove CFBundleDocumentTypes and still see the icon, for example. Or I can add a new accepted UTI, but it has no effect. I've tried cleaning and rebuilding, deleting and reinstalling the app...no success. I tried in the simulator, too, and even Erase Content and Settings didn't force changes to be applied. I'm not sure what else to try here. Anyway, I'd like my app to appear in the Share sheet for photo(s) from the Photos app, Mail and Safari, in particular, but really from any app that supports sharing photos. I can share the config that seemed to work, but since changing it doesn't always have an effect, I can't guarantee that this was the one that worked. At the moment, it doesn't work, but I'm not sure why. Here it is: <key>CFBundleDocumentTypes</key> <array> <dict> <key>CFBundleTypeIconFiles</key> <array/> <key>CFBundleTypeName</key> <string>Image</string> <key>CFBundleTypeRole</key> <string>Viewer</string> <key>LSHandlerRank</key> <string>Alternate</string> <key>LSItemContentTypes</key> <array> <string>public.data</string> <string>public.jpeg</string> <string>public.png</string> <string>public.image</string> <string>public.gif</string> <string>public.url</string> <string>public.content</string> </array> </dict> </array> <key>LSSupportsOpeningDocumentsInPlace</key> <true/> In my code, I also defined the following method in my SceneDelegate (though I think the problem is just with Info.plist): func scene(_ scene: UIScene, openURLContexts URLContexts: Set<UIOpenURLContext>) { Here are my questions: How do I make sure that my changes to Info.plist apply? Is there a cache somewhere that I have to force to clear? This is the trickiest part of this, because I can't reliably try an experiment and see if it worked. Adding the specific image UTI’s (public.jpeg, public.png) seemed to help, even though those types should conform to public.image, which conforms to public.data and public.content. Is it actually necessary to specify those? If the user selects multiple photos in the Photos app, my app doesn’t appear, but other third-party apps on my phone do. How can I support multiple photos? This configuration doesn't reliably show my app for Safari images - what do I need to do to make that happen? I had to use “public.data” when I briefly had Safari sharing working, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get a UTI from UIOpenURLContext. Right now, my code just tries to load the data as an image and aborts if UIImage(data:) returns nil. Is this a safe way of doing this? Is there a way to get the UTI for the data?

How to share 'back facing' iOS camera app at same time Eye Tracking app needs 'front facing' camera?
While using my xmas present of a new iPhone and iOS 18.2, I figured I'd try the Eye Tracker app. I've been working with clients successfully using Tobii and other existing eye trackers. In my limited tests, Apple has room for improvement. My main issue is with the camera app which cannot be used at the same time while using the Eye Tracker app. I get an error popup from Apple: Camera is use by another app The image below is from my app showing the popup message "Camera in use by another app", but the same error occurs on the installed camera app. This error is from Apple, not my app. For terminology: 'front' camera is the one pointing at the user (the selfi camera) while 'back' camera is the main one with multiple lenses. Eye tracking needs the 'front' camera. It seems when an app uses the camera, it takes over both the front and back facing cameras (since you might swap them). Thus another app, especially Eye Tracking, cannot use just the front facing camera at the same time. That limits use of Eye Tracking, in particular one cannot take pictures or click any buttons on an app that uses the camera. Anyone know of a way for an app to not take over both front and back cameras at the same time? If I can separate them, the Eye Tracker could use the front camera while the camera uses the back camera.

There is a mapping issue between the physical buttons of the Matter switch and the buttons on the Apple Home App.
My device is a Matter switch with 12 buttons, but its physical buttons do not correspond to the button icons displayed in the Apple Home App. The mapping between them is chaotic, for example, physical button 1 is mapped to button icon 3, and physical button 2 is mapped to button icon 7, without any pattern. And every time the factory settings are restored and the network is reconfigured, the mapping will be different from the last time, and restoring the factory settings will change it again. I have checked my program and I am certain that the events triggered by physical buttons correspond correctly to the Matter Generic Switch Endpoint in the ZCL file. I don't understand why there was such a mistake. I am using GSDK 4.4.1, Silicon Labs Matter 2.2.1-1.2. I asked the manufacturer of the chip (the staff of Silicon Labs), and they said that the corresponding order displayed on the app is determined by the APP side, and has nothing to do with Matter devices, is this a problem caused by Apple's system, and if so, is there any solution?

SwiftUI: The content and cursor are intermittently outside the bounds of the TextEditor
In SwiftUI, the content and cursor are intermittently outside the bounds of the TextEditor. struct ContentView: View { @State private var text = "" var body: some View { VStack { TextEditor(text: $text) .frame(maxWidth: .infinity, maxHeight: .infinity) .border(Color.gray, width: 1) } .padding() } } I enter multiline text into TextEditor. The content and cursor are intermittently outside the bounds of the TextEditor at the bottom. Screen recording: The problem also appears on my iPad. I guess it may be related to the input method. Is it possible to solve this problem?

iPadOS18 UITabBarController not releasing viewControllers after deinit with sidebar enabled
In iPadOS18 UITabBarController not releasing viewControllers after deinit with sidebar enabled. On checking the memory Graph Debugger we could see that the viewControllers are hold by UITab which in turn hold by UITabSidebarItem. We don't have control over the UITabSidebarItem and unable to remove the reference. The issue not happens when tabbarController mode is set to 'tabBar' instead of 'sidebar'. We have event tried to set empty tabs before dismiss the view but still the original tabs are not removing in memory and holding the viewcontollers as well. Anyone assist on this issue. App keeps crashing due to Game Center account??
I play this game called Sonic Forces: Speed Battle that's available in the app store and I completed a quest outside of the app on this site called TapResearch for some rewards as I've done before and has worked, but after this one time I can no longer enter back into the game without crashing immediately. I tried deleting and reinstalling but nothing. I even tried signing into a different account but that didn't work either. So then I tried to make a new game center account to try and see if it works, and it did, though all my progress has been restarted. Does anyone know how to fix this?
