Cannot load a Safari Extension onto my iPhone 15 running iOS 18.4
I'm trying to load a Safari Extension onto my physical iPhone 15 running iOS 18.4 but am seeing the following message: "iOS 18.4 is not installed." When I click the Get button I see that the download has failed with the following error message. I tried updating my laptop to Sequoia and I also deleted and re-installed Xcode but that didn't fix it. Any thoughts? Download failed. Does Live Caller ID Lookup entirely replace Call SIP content, or are they ever combined?
If an iPhone receives an incoming call with some partial sip content (for example it contains a name but not an image, or vice versa) and if there is an app enabled for Live Caller ID Lookup, and the result of that lookup supplies data not in the sip (i.e. the lookup returns an image, but not a name, or vice versa). Then could the OS combine data from both sources, or is whatever is returned from the LCIDL what gets displayed in the call screen. I suppose that is the case but just want to enquire to make sure. ContactProviderManager Fails with Custom domainIdentifier, Works Only with "defaultDomain"
Has anyone encountered a situation like mine below? I’ve submitted feedback, but it seems like I’ll have to wait for a while. ContactProviderManager Fails with Custom domainIdentifier, Works Only with "defaultDomain" Category: Developer Tools / Frameworks Subcategory: ContactProvider Framework Reproducibility: Always iOS Version: iOS 18.0 (and later) Xcode Version: Xcode 16.0 (or later)  Description: When initializing a ContactProviderManager with a custom ContactProviderDomain using any identifier other than "defaultDomain", the initializer throws a ContactProviderError.domainNotRegistered error. The documentation for ContactProviderDomain (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/contactprovider/contactproviderdomain) does not provide any method to register custom identifiers, making it impossible to use ContactProviderManager with a desired custom identifier. The only successful case is when the identifier is "defaultDomain". print("Error: (error)") // No error, initialization succeeds Steps to Reproduce: Create a Contact Provider Extension in an iOS app targeting iOS 18.0. In host app, Attempt to initialize a ContactProviderManager with a custom ContactProviderDomain identifier: import ContactProvider func enableExtensionExample() async {    do {        // The app creates a contact provider manager with custom domain.        let manager =  try ContactProviderManager(domainIdentifier: "com.mycompany.customdomain")               // May prompt the person to enable the custom domain.        try await manager.enable()    } catch {       print("Error: \(error)") // Prints ContactProviderError.domainNotRegistered    } } Try the same with the default identifier: import ContactProvider func enableExtensionExample() async {    do {        // The app creates a contact provider manager with a default domain.        let manager =  try ContactProviderManager(domainIdentifier: "defaultDomain")               // May prompt the person to enable the default domain.        try await manager.enable()    } catch {       print("Error: \(error)") // No error, initialization succeeds    } } Build and run the app on a device or simulator running iOS 18.0 or later. Observe that the initializer fails with domainNotRegistered for any identifier other than "defaultDomain". Expected Behavior: The ContactProviderManager should initialize successfully with any valid ContactProviderDomain identifier, provided the domain is properly configured or registered, allowing developers to use custom identifiers for organizing contacts (e.g., for different categories or sources). Actual Behavior: The ContactProviderManager initializer throws ContactProviderError.domainNotRegistered for any ContactProviderDomain identifier other than "defaultDomain". Only the "defaultDomain" identifier succeeds, limiting the ability to use custom domains. Impact: Developers cannot use custom identifiers to categorize or manage contacts in separate domains, restricting the ContactProvider framework’s flexibility. This forces reliance on the "defaultDomain" identifier, which may not suit use cases requiring distinct contact groups (e.g., personal vs. business contacts). Suggested Fix: Provide an API to register custom ContactProviderDomain identifiers, such as a ContactProviderManager.register(domain:) method. Update the ContactProviderDomain and ContactProviderManager documentation to clarify how to use custom identifiers or explicitly state if only "defaultDomain" is supported. If custom identifiers are not intended to be supported, document this limitation clearly to avoid developer confusion. UIDocumentPickerViewController dismisses presenting view controller when selecting a file multiple times quickly
Description When using UIDocumentPickerViewController with allowsMultipleSelection = false, I expect that selecting a file will dismiss only the document picker. However, if a user quickly taps the same file multiple times, the picker dismisses both itself and the presenting view controller (i.e., it pops two levels from the view controller stack), which leads to unintended behavior and breaks presentation flow. Expected Behavior Only UIDocumentPickerViewController should be dismissed when a file is selected—even if the user taps quickly or multiple times on the same file. Actual Behavior When tapping the same file multiple times quickly, the picker dismisses not only itself but also the parent view controller it was presented from. Steps to Reproduce Create a simple view controller and present another one modally over it. From that presented view controller, present a UIDocumentPickerViewController with allowsMultipleSelection = false. Tap quickly on the same file in the picker 2 times. Result: Both the document picker and the presenting view controller are dismissed. Reproducible Code Snippet class ViewController: UIViewController { override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() view.backgroundColor = .green addLabel("Parent View Controller") DispatchQueue.main.async { [unowned self] in let child = UIViewController() child.view.backgroundColor = .yellow present(child, animated: true) child.addLabel("Child View Controller") let vc = UIDocumentPickerViewController( forOpeningContentTypes: [.pdf, .jpeg, .png], asCopy: true ) vc.allowsMultipleSelection = false child.present(vc, animated: true) } } } extension UIViewController { func addLabel(_ text: String) { let label = UILabel(frame: CGRect(x: 0, y: 50, width: view.bounds.width, height: 30)) label.text = text view.addSubview(label) } } Environment Device: iPhone 15 Pro and others iOS version: 18.2 (reproduces on multiple iOS versions) Occurs with: .pdf, .jpeg, .png file types Mode: Both simulator and real device Notes Happens consistently with fast multiple taps on the same file. This breaks expected view controller stack behavior.

iOS 18.x iPhone 15, & 15 ProMax Buttons/Labels Disappear
Only people using iPhone 15 and iPhone 15Pro (don't know about iPhone 15 plus or iPhone 15 pro max) are having problems with my App. All seems fine on 13, 14 and 16 as well as iPad The app is in testflight now. I cannot replicate the issue in MAC via virtual iPhone 15 , 15 plus, pro, or promax. What I see happening - it looks like users are seeing labels disappear, sometimes buttons are disappearing on the 15 pro and 15. I have an ingredient selection page where you can select the ingredients that you have. These are outlined and grouped to make choosing ingredients intuitive. I have a profile selector where you can choose by flavor, strength, body or mood. At the bottom I have three buttons , button one lets you choose if drinks are sorted or strictly matched. The last button allows the user to see the drinks they can make based on ingredients they have.This is done by matching the ingredients with a locally placed drinks list which contains a drink id, drink name, ingredients and profile information. Clicking the last button opens a flatlist. Users on iPhone 15 and iPhone 15Pro iOS 18 sometimes experience the three buttons at the bottom being gone altogether. then returning. After clicking the Drinks Available button the button label should change to hide available drinks, but sometimes that label disappears. The drinks flat list has space for many drinks but the labels for those drinks are not present until halfway down the list where one drink shows up. No other device behaves this way. It might be more common when there are large number of ingredients selected ....e.g., if about 50% of 211 ingredients selected it might be more likely to happen. This needs to be tested to verify,

How to undisplay `Private Access` in `Contacts Access` when i use `CNContactPickerViewController`?
In iOS 18, i use CNContactPickerViewController to access to Contacts (i know it is one-time access). After first pick up one contact, the Setting > Apps > my app > Contacts shows Private Access without any option to close it. Is there any way to close it and undisplay it ? I tried to uninstall and reinstall my app, but it didn't work.

NO_CRASH_STACK with different number of crashes from the App Store.
Hello. For the last few months I have been facing a situation for which I do not understand either the reason or the solution. Here is an example for the last few weeks: In App Store Connect it shows 214 crashes for the last week In Xcode it shows 56 crashes for the last 2 weeks without stack traces (NO_CRASH_STACK) In Firebase Crashlytics there is not a single crash. When I click "Show in Finder" it opens a folder with .xccrashpoint files. As far as I understood from the instructions on posting crash reports - this is not what is needed. Interesting point: it looks like the errors occur on iOS 15-16 devices. I have several questions: Why is the number of crashes in Xcode different from the number in App Store Connect? Where are the other crashes? How can I understand what the problem is if there are no stack traces in Xcode?

iOS 26 Public Beta Duplicate Contacts
I'm not sure at which beta it happened, but somewhere during the iOS 26 Public Beta releases, my iCloud Contacts have duplicated close to 100 times each. When I scroll to the bottom of the list to try and manage duplicates, it indicates I only have 2 duplicates. I should be sitting around 350 contacts and instead, I now have over 10k. Anyone else with this issue? I have filed Feedback in the app. I'm not certain if it was related to iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 as I have both, but noticed it first on my iPhone. I confirmed that the issue has affected my iCloud Contacts and therefore all of my Apple devices included older iOS and MacOS versions. Short of manually deleting all the duplicates, I'm at a loss as to how I can correct his.

IOS cursor control
My app controls the cursor movement in a text view on iPhone and iPads. On screen touch, the IOS cursor position is out of sync with the app cursor position. Is there a way to find out, on screen touch, where the ios cursor positition is and update the app cursor to the ios cursor position? When they are out of sync, the user has to move the cursor to the startIndex and navigate from there. Frustating! I have looked at many programming books, forums, and internet search with nothing to no avail. Any help will be greatly appreciated. The app names are SummaGramPhonex and SummaGramIPAD11 and SummaGramIPAD13. Thanks. Charlie 3Sep25

iOS 18 SDK causing random UI changes and crashes with my app
I am a developer on an enterprise application. Our team just updated our pipeline to build our app on the iOS 18 SDK instead of the 17.4 SDK and this has caused a lot of our ui elements to change and several crashes within the app resulting in just the simple error message "Swift runtime failure: unhandled C++ / Objective-C exception". Why is just updating the SDK causing all these issues? Is there anyway to keep the previous version or will we have to go component by component to fix the constraints and crashes? These issues seem to be happening to our users on iOS 18 and beyond.

Is it possible to embed dependencies within a .xcframework?
I'm creating a .xcframework in order to deliver an api/functionality to a customer for inclusion into an app. I'm doing it as a .xcframework as I want it to be a binary so that the source code isn't accessable. The xcframework has dependencies on modules which are installed via SPM (there are a few, an example is PhoneNumberKit) When I build the xcframework and then add it to a test program and invoke its api then there's a run time error saying "PhoneNumberKit/resource_bundle_accessor.swift:44: Fatal error: unable to find bundle named PhoneNumberKit_PhoneNumberKit" How can I build the xcframework so that its dependencies are included within it? (Stepping back a bit, is an xcframework an appropriate approach for this?)

Video on Safari iOS - UI/UX of Shadow Content User Agent
Hi, when I display an HTML page with a on Safari iOS, I get a nice UI. Great! At the first look I see a video frame with an arrow-in-a-circle button in the middle. Very nice. I click on the arrow and I get a fullscreen view while the video begins to play. I watch the video then I pause it then I click on the top-left x button. So I go back to my html page and the video is perfectly there as it was before. But, there is an annoying new detail. The video frame is really dark, it still presents all the controls and a "different" arrow button to play it again. In other words that nice video-frame, that nice picture, is not longer visible on the page. That nice page with nice pictures has now an almost-black rectangle. Too bad. Sure I can click on the video (outside the controls) then the controls and the black overlaying frame disappear. I can see that nice picture again. Finally. Well, but the arrow-in-a-circle button to play the video disappeared. Now the user cannot longer understand that's a video to play. It looks just like any other pictures to admire statically. Is any way to get the previous first look of the video? The one clear, with the current frame and the arrow-in-a-circle look?

Is there a way to disable NFC on iPhones?
I have some logic which requires NFC support on the device. This is what I'm using to make sure that it's available: isNFCMissing = !NFCNDEFReaderSession.readingAvailable && !NFCTagReaderSession.readingAvailable && !NFCVASReaderSession.readingAvailable Is it possible for isNFCMissing to be true even if the device has an NFC chip. The minimum iOS version for the application is 16 which is only supported on devices with an NFC chip to begin with.

How to get a callback once a requested frameDuration change has been applied?
When changing a camera's exposure, AVFoundation provides a callback which offers the timestamp of the first frame captured with the new exposure duration: AVCaptureDevice.setExposureModeCustom(duration:, iso:, completionHandler:). I want to get a similar callback when changing frame duration. After setting AVCaptureDevice.activeVideoMinFrameDuration or AVCaptureDevice.activeVideoMinFrameDuration to a new value, how can I compute the index or the timestamp of the first camera frame which was captured using the newly set frame duration?

Inconsistent subviews redrawing in LazyVStack
Hello Apple forum ! I spotted a weird behaviour with LazyVStack in a ScrollView. I understand that it loads its views only once upon appearance unlinke VStack that loads everything in one shot. What I noticed also, it seems to reload its views sometimes when scrolling back up to earlier loaded views. The thing is, it isn't always the case. struct LazyVStackTest: View { var body: some View { ScrollView { LazyVStack { ForEach(0..<1000, id: \.self) { _ in // if true { MyText() // } } } } } struct MyText: View { var body: some View { let _ = Self._printChanges() HStack { Text("hello") } } } } If we consider the code above on XCode 26 beta 7 on an iOS 26 or iOS 18.2 simulator. Scroll to the bottom : you'll see one "LazyVStackTest.MyText: @self changed" for each row. Then scroll back up to the top, we'll see again the same message printed multiple times. --> So I gather from this that LazyVStack not only loads lazily but also removes old rows from memory & recreates them upon reappearance. What I don't get however is that if you uncomment the "if true" statement, you won't see the reloading happening. And I have absolutely no clue as to why 😅 If someone could help shed some light on this weird behaviour, it would be greatly appreciated ^^ PS : the issue is also present with XCode 16.2 but at a deeper lever (ex: if we embed another custom View "MyText2" inside "MyText", the reloading is in "MyText2" & not "MyText")

Navigation title not visible in SplitViewController in macCatalyst on iOS 26
We are using a column style split view controller as root view of our app and in iOS26 the navigation titles of primary and supplementary view controllers are not visible and secondary view controller title is displayed in supplementary column. Looks the split view hidden all the child view controllers title and shown the secondary view title as global in macCatlayst. The right and left barbutton items are showing properly for individual view controllers. Facing this weird issue in iOS26 betas. The secondary navigation title also visible only when WindowScene,titlebar.titleVisibility is not hidden. Kindly suggest the fix for this issue as we can't use the secondary view navigation title for showing supplementary view's data. The issue not arises in old style split views or when the split view embedded in another splitView. Refer the sample code and attachment here let splitView = UISplitViewController(style: .tripleColumn) splitView.preferredDisplayMode = .twoBesideSecondary splitView.setViewController(SplitViewChildVc(title: "Primary"), for: .primary) splitView.setViewController(SplitViewChildVc(title: "Supplementary"), for: .supplementary) splitView.setViewController(SplitViewChildVc(title: "Secondary"), for: .secondary) class SplitViewChildVc: UIViewController { let viewTitle: String init(title: String = "Default") { self.viewTitle = title super.init(nibName: nil, bundle: nil) } override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() self.title = viewTitle self.navigationItem.title = viewTitle if #available(iOS 26.0, *) { navigationItem.subtitle = "Subtitle" } let leftbutton = UIBarButtonItem(barButtonSystemItem: .cancel, target: nil, action: nil) navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = leftbutton let rightbutton = UIBarButtonItem(barButtonSystemItem: .add, target: nil, action: nil) navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = rightbutton } }

SwiftUI iOS26 beta7 ".navigationTitle()" does't show small title in Navigation Bar.
As the title indicates the problem, the large title is shown but the small title in Navitation Bar view is not shown when scrolled up with iOS26 beta7. It works with iOS18 or earlier. Is this iOS26 bug?

And I have absolutely no clue as to why 😅 If someone could help shed some light on this weird behaviour, it would be greatly appreciated ^^ PS : the issue is also present with XCode 16.2 but at a deeper lever (ex: if we embed another custom View "MyText2" inside "MyText", the reloading is in "MyText2" & not "MyText")

iOS Simulator (18.4) crashes when user clicks allow for Speech Recognition permission popup
When a new application runs on iOS 18.4 simulator and tries to access the Speech Framework, prompting a request for authorisation to use Speech Recognition, the application will crash if the user clicks allow. Same issue in the visionOS 2.4 simulator. Using Swift 6. Report Identifier: FB17686186 /// Checks speech recognition availability and requests necessary permissions. @MainActor func checkAvailabilityAndPermissions() async { logger.debug("Checking speech recognition availability and permissions...") // 1. Verify that the speechRecognizer instance exists guard let recognizer = speechRecognizer else { logger.error("Speech recognizer is nil - speech recognition won't be available.") reportError(.configurationError(description: "Speech recognizer could not be created."), context: "checkAvailabilityAndPermissions") self.isAvailable = false return } // 2. Check recognizer availability (might change at runtime) if !recognizer.isAvailable { logger.error("Speech recognizer is not available for the current locale.") reportError(.configurationError(description: "Speech recognizer not available."), context: "checkAvailabilityAndPermissions") self.isAvailable = false return } logger.trace("Speech recognizer exists and is available.") // 3. Request Speech Recognition Authorization // IMPORTANT: Add `NSSpeechRecognitionUsageDescription` to Info.plist let speechAuthStatus = SFSpeechRecognizer.authorizationStatus() logger.debug("Current Speech Recognition authorization status: \(speechAuthStatus.rawValue)") if speechAuthStatus == .notDetermined { logger.info("Requesting speech recognition authorization...") // Use structured concurrency to wait for permission result let authStatus = await withCheckedContinuation { continuation in SFSpeechRecognizer.requestAuthorization { status in continuation.resume(returning: status) } } logger.debug("Received authorization status: \(authStatus.rawValue)") // Now handle the authorization result let speechAuthorized = (authStatus == .authorized) handleAuthorizationStatus(status: authStatus, type: "Speech Recognition") // If speech is granted, now check microphone if speechAuthorized { await checkMicrophonePermission() } } else { // Already determined, just handle it let speechAuthorized = (speechAuthStatus == .authorized) handleAuthorizationStatus(status: speechAuthStatus, type: "Speech Recognition") // If speech is already authorized, check microphone if speechAuthorized { await checkMicrophonePermission() } } }

Navigation title not visible in SplitViewController in macCatalyst on iOS 26
We are using a column style split view controller as root view of our app and in iOS26 the navigation titles of primary and supplementary view controllers are not visible and secondary view controller title is displayed in supplementary column. Looks the split view hidden all the child view controllers title and shown the secondary view title as global in macCatlayst. The right and left barbutton items are showing properly for individual view controllers. Facing this weird issue in iOS26 betas. The secondary navigation title also visible only when WindowScene,titlebar.titleVisibility is not hidden. Kindly suggest the fix for this issue as we can't use the secondary view navigation title for showing supplementary view's data. The issue not arises in old style split views or when the split view embedded in another splitView. Refer the sample code and attachment here let splitView = UISplitViewController(style: .tripleColumn) splitView.preferredDisplayMode = .twoBesideSecondary splitView.setViewController(SplitViewChildVc(title: "Primary"), for: .primary) splitView.setViewController(SplitViewChildVc(title: "Supplementary"), for: .supplementary) splitView.setViewController(SplitViewChildVc(title: "Secondary"), for: .secondary) class SplitViewChildVc: UIViewController { let viewTitle: String init(title: String = "Default") { self.viewTitle = title super.init(nibName: nil, bundle: nil) } override func viewDidLoad() { super.viewDidLoad() self.title = viewTitle self.navigationItem.title = viewTitle if #available(iOS 26.0, *) { navigationItem.subtitle = "Subtitle" } let leftbutton = UIBarButtonItem(barButtonSystemItem: .cancel, target: nil, action: nil) navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = leftbutton let rightbutton = UIBarButtonItem(barButtonSystemItem: .add, target: nil, action: nil) navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = rightbutton } }
