Issue with app not waking up intermittently due to Pushkit (VOIP)
I am developing a VoIP service. Usually, when receiving a VoIP Push, Callkit is exposed immediately after receiving the message and the app is designed to be used. However, there is an extremely intermittent phenomenon (not well reproduced) where the app does not wake up even when receiving a VoIP Push. And after a long time, the app wakes up and Callkit is activated. (A long time after receiving the call…) Has anyone experienced the above phenomenon? I wonder if there are any reported parts depending on the OS version. (I have identified that it does not occur in the 17.x version, but it is difficult to guarantee because it occurs extremely intermittently) The app is not running in the background, but... Could this be happening if there are a lot of pending operations in the background? I need help urgently

Push-to-Start Live Activity Background Task Issue After App Termination
Desired Behavior I want the app to be able to handle multiple Push-to-Start notifications even when it is completely terminated. Each Live Activity should: Be successfully displayed upon receiving a Push-to-Start notification. Trigger background tasks to send its update token to the server, regardless of the time interval between notifications. Problem I am facing an issue with iOS Live Activities when using Push-to-Start notifications to trigger Live Activities in an app that has been completely terminated. Here’s the detailed scenario: When the app is completely terminated and I send the first Push-to-Start notification: The Live Activity is successfully displayed. didFinishLaunchingWithOptions` is triggered, and background tasks execute correctly, including sending the update token to the server. When I send consecutive Push-to-Start notifications in quick succession (e.g., within a few seconds or minutes): Both notifications successfully display their respective Live Activities. Background tasks are executed correctly for both notifications. However, when there is a longer interval (e.g., 10 minutes) between two Push-to-Start notifications: The first notification works perfectly—it displays the Live Activity, triggers didFinishLaunchingWithOptions, and executes background tasks. The second notification successfully displays the Live Activity but fails to execute any background tasks, such as sending the update token to the server. My HypothesisI suspect that iOS might impose a restriction where background runtime for Push-to-Start notifications can only be granted once within a certain time frame after the app has been terminated. Any insights into why this issue might be occurring or how to ensure consistent background task execution for multiple Push-to-Start notifications would be greatly appreciated!

Spam 4.3 (a)
Hello everyone, I’ve reached out to Apple’s review team multiple times, but unfortunately, I haven’t received any clear or specific guidance on why my app was rejected. My app has been rejected several times with the reason “Spam” under guideline 4.3, and I still don't understand exactly which part of the app is problematic. Even after providing the necessary information about the data, I resubmitted the app, and after a few days, it quickly moved into "In Review" status, but then was rejected within seconds with the same “Spam” message. I have sent over 13 messages asking for specific feedback, and all I get are vague responses saying “It’s spam, refer to 4.3, fix your app, and resubmit.” However, when I review the guidelines, I don’t see any specific reasons for rejection that apply to my app. I’m particularly confused because my app is a VPN, and when I check the guidelines, I see that apps in categories like dating and others are saturated, but VPN apps are not. My app uses completely dedicated servers, and the IP addresses are not found in any other apps. Still, my app keeps getting rejected. If anyone has encountered a similar issue or has any insight into what might be causing this, I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide detailed guidance on what specifically needs to be changed to get the app approved. Thank you!

App Store Ratings and Reviews Missing or Disappearing
Hello everyone, We’ve recently noticed an issue with our app’s ratings and reviews on the App Store. Some users have informed us that they left ratings and/or reviews, but these never appeared. Additionally, we’ve observed some reviews disappearing after they were initially visible. We contacted Apple Support, and while they pointed us to the App Store terms and conditions—indicating that Apple has discretion over review removal—we’re trying to determine if there might be a technical reason behind this behavior. Here are some specifics: It has been a while since we’ve seen any new ratings or reviews, even though users have confirmed submitting them. Some reviews that were previously approved and visible have disappeared without explanation. We’ve ensured—to the extent possible—that our app complies with all guidelines and policies, so we’re ruling out violations as the cause for now. Since the app is still new, even a few ratings or reviews missing is quite impactful. Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Could this be related to a known bug or technical limitation? For example, could regional settings, delays in processing reviews, or other factors be affecting visibility? We would greatly appreciate any advice on how to investigate this further or escalate the matter effectively. If you’ve encountered this before, what steps did you take to resolve it? Thank you for your help!

Issue related to APNS is delivering expired voip push notification.
Hi, am facing an issue related to voip push notifications getting delivered 1-2 hours after apns-expiration to 0 and apns-priority to 10. I had raised a similar post got a reply that it may be due to network delay. But network delay can cause the delivery of voip push to be delayed only by few seconds or minutes. But in our case voip push is getting delivered hours after the voip call was attempted. Steps to reproduce: Put our voip app in background and lock iPhone. As app is put in background, socket connections gets disconnected from server. Now if a caller makes call to this app, the call should be delivered through voip push. 2) Voip push should ideally be received even if app is in background and iPhone is locked. It is connected to a good wifi network. But it does not receive the voip push. 3) After 1-2 hours user unlocks iPhone and opens voip app. As soon as user opens app, the voip push is received and phone starts ringing.

Animation does not work with List, while works with ScrollView + ForEach
Why there is a working animation with ScrollView + ForEach of items removal, but there is none with List? ScrollView + ForEach: struct ContentView: View { @State var items: [String] = Array(1...5).map(\.description) var body: some View { ScrollView(.vertical) { ForEach(items, id: \.self) { item in Text(String(item)) .frame(maxWidth: .infinity, minHeight: 50) .background(.gray) .onTapGesture { withAnimation(.linear(duration: 0.1)) { items = items.filter { $0 != item } } } } } } } List: struct ContentView: View { @State var items: [String] = Array(1...5).map(\.description) var body: some View { List(items, id: \.self) { item in Text(String(item)) .frame(maxWidth: .infinity, minHeight: 50) .background(.gray) .onTapGesture { withAnimation(.linear(duration: 0.1)) { items = items.filter { $0 != item } } } } } }```

Can't enable an iOS Driverkit driver when using an older app ID
Hi there, We've discovered a problem with our iOS app. We've been attempting to add a Driverkit driver to it, but any time we run the app through Testflight, the driver installs fine, but when we go to enable the driver toggle in the app's settings, the toggle stays on, but in the device logs I can see: could not insert bundle at <private> into manager: <private> As you would expect - this means the driver is not actually enabled and does not respond to a device being connected to the iPad. This does not happen when building & running the app locally, nor does it happen when installing an Ad Hoc build. We also have a different app, not yet shipped. We are able to add the driver to that app without issue. It works after going through Testflight. What we have discovered now is that everything works fine even if we just create an entirely new app with it's own bundle IDs. I should point out that in all cases, we're keeping the capabilities the same for each of these apps/IDs - including the managed capabilities. The bundle IDs that have this problem are older (5 years old or more). It seems like any newer ID will work, but trying to add the driver (and the associated managed capabilities) to an older app/ID results in this vague error message, with no further details. If we inspect the resulting dexts, we can also see that the "Internal requirements code size" is different on the ones that fail. The failing ones have a size of 204 bytes, whereas the working ones all have a size of 220 bytes. Not sure if that's related but it's strikingly consistent. Does this mean there is an issue with older app IDs, and we need Apple to manually refresh them in some way before the driverkit capabilities will work after going through Testflight? We have two apps in this state, both are of the same vintage (~5 years+). We've been battling this issue for months on and off, so would appreciate some help.

apple-app-site-association file 404 problem
We put the apple-app-site-association file at https://ourdomain.com.tr/.well-known/apple-app-site-association. When we send a request to url, we get 200 response code every time and we can see the file. But sometimes when we try to access https://app-site-association.cdn-apple.com/a/v1/ourdomain.com.tr url with browser or CMD tool, we are facing with 404 response code. There isn't any ip adress filter in our systems and we tried using vpn for sending same request from different locations(america and europe) but nothing changed. In addition, can anyone provide the ip list of apple cdn servers to check the F5 Load balancer WAF logs? how to handle setup for NFC without NDEF & PACE and still support iOS 15.0
We have NFC capabilties enabled for our app ID - com.uob.mightyvn but our minimum deployment target is 15.0. We do not have an option deselect PACE from provisioning profile. Hence, the validation is failed for IPA. Invalid entitlement for core nfc framework. The sdk version '18.2' and min OS version '15.0' are not compatible for the entitlement 'com.apple.developer.nfc.readersession.formats' because 'NDEF is disallowed'

Is there a way to pull Ratings data via API or other method?
We are currently pulling data via the API to look various metrics, including reviews and ratings. However, I noticed the ratings only come in with associated reviews - it doesn't appear there is public access to the API for pulling all historic ratings (without associated reviews). Is this correct? Does anyone know a workaround or way to access the ratings data via API or other method?

macOS: First Hangul input ignored/separated after locale change or initial focus with default Korean IME
I reported Korean IME bug to QT Bug report. Please refer to below link. https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-136128?jql=text%20~%20korean%20ORDER%20BY%20created%20DESC But, QT reponsed me like follwing. Thank you for reporting. However, this issue seems like a known issue with apple's Korean IME. There are many threads in Korean community about the same problem with Non-Qt apps. If this issue is a really Qt issue, feel free to open it again. Is there any workaround to fix this IME bug ? Thanks, Ted

Why is using clonefile for a folder strongly discouraged?
As a part of the video editing app I’m working on, I want to efficiently copy a folder of resources on the same (local) filesystem. Because iOS is on APFS, cloning (CoW) is an option. I read the documentation for clonefile(2) which states that cloning a folder works but is strongly discouraged. I did a small sample project which demonstrates that using clonefile on a folder works correctly and is 10× faster than using FileManager’s copyItem method. My questions: The main one I’m interested in: Why is using clonefile for a folder strongly discouraged? Is FileManager using cloning behind the scenes? Or more exactly how guaranteed are we it will use it? (I know it does, I tried manually cping the resources and it was thousands of times slower.)

Accepted Use Case of the Network Extension Entitlement?
Hi! I recently had an idea to build an iOS app that allows users to create a system-level block of specified web domains by curating a "blacklist" on their device. If the user, for instance, inputs "*example.com" to their list, their iPhone would be blocked from relaying that network traffic to their ISP/DNS, and hence return an error message ("iPhone can't open the page because the address is invalid") instead of successfully fetching the response from example.com's servers. The overarching goal of this app would be to allow users to time-block their use of specified websites/apps and grant them greater agency over their technology consumption, and I thought that an app that blocks traffic at the network level, combined with the ability to control when to/not to allow access, would be a powerful alternative to the existing implementations out there that work more on the browser-level (eg. via Safari extension, which is isolated to the scope of user's Safari browser) or via Screen Time (which can be easy to bypass by inputting one's passcode). Another thing to mention is that since the app would serve as a local DNS proxy (instead of relying on a third party DNS resolver), none of their internet activity will be collected/transmitted off-device and be used for commercial purposes. I feel particularly driven to create a privacy-centered app in this way, since no user data needs to be harvested to implement this kind of filtering. I'd also love to get suggestions for a transparent privacy policy that respects users control over their device. With all this said, I found that the Network Extension APIs may be the only way that an app like this could be built on iOS and, I wanted to ask if the above-mentioned use case of Network Extension would be eligible to be granted access to its entitlement before I go ahead and purchase the $99/year Apple Developer Program membership. Happy to provide further information, and I'd also particularly be open to any mentions of existing solutions out there (since I might have missed some in my search). Maybe something like this already exists, in which case it'd be great to know in any case! :). Thank you so much in advance!

Disable Local Network Access permission check
I'm using a Mac Studio in a homelab context and use Homebrew to manage the installed services. The services include things that access the local network, for example Prometheus which monitors some other servers, a reverse proxy which fronts other web services on the network, and a DNS server which can use another as upstream. Local Network Access permissions make it impossible to reliably perform unattended updates of services because an updated binary requires a GUI login to grant local network permissions (again). I use brew services to manage the services as launchd agents, i.e. they run in a non-root GUI context. I know that I can also use sudo brew services which instead installs the services as launchd daemons, but running services as root has negative security implication and generally doesn't look like a good idea to me. If only there was a way to disable local network access checks altogether…

Recent changes to the App Store Connect API has broken the ability to set the IN_APP_PASS_PROVISIONING capability type
We have been using this API call to set the In-App Provisioning capability for 2+ years and it just recently started returning errors. To set the In-App Provisioning capability we had been using the App Store Connect API directly: curl "https://api.appstoreconnect.apple.com/v1/bundleIdCapabilities" -X POST --header "Authorization: Bearer #{appleApiToken}" --header "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"data": {"type": "bundleIdCapabilities", "attributes": {"capabilityType": " IN_APP_PASS_PROVISIONING"}, "relationships": {"bundleId": {"data": {"id": "#{appStoreBundleIdentifier}", "type": "bundleIds"}}}}}' The IN_APP_PASS_PROVISIONING capability type is shown, by getting the bundle ID capabilities, when In-App Provisioning is set on a bundle ID: curl "https://api.appstoreconnect.apple.com/v1/bundleIds/#{appStoreBundleIdentifier}/bundleIdCapabilities" --header "Authorization: Bearer #{appleApiToken}" After manually setting the In-App Provisioning capability via the Apple Developer portal you will see the new capabilityType: { "type" : "bundleIdCapabilities", "id" : "##########_IN_APP_PASS_PROVISIONING", "attributes" : { "settings" : null, "capabilityType" : "IN_APP_PASS_PROVISIONING" }, "relationships" : { "bundleId" : { "links" : { "self" : "https://api.appstoreconnect.apple.com/v1/bundleIdCapabilities/##########_IN_APP_PASS_PROVISIONING/relationships/bundleId", "related" : "https://api.appstoreconnect.apple.com/v1/bundleIdCapabilities/##########_IN_APP_PASS_PROVISIONING/bundleId" } } }, "links" : { "self" : "https://api.appstoreconnect.apple.com/v1/bundleIdCapabilities/##########_IN_APP_PASS_PROVISIONING" } } The problem now is Apple has recently (within the last week) removed support for setting the IN_APP_PASS_PROVISIONING capability type via the bundleIdCapabilities API endpoint. { "errors" : [ { "id" : "c6644913-d1c5-4eda-9faa-7766adf25c39", "status" : "409", "code" : "ENTITY_ERROR.ATTRIBUTE.TYPE", "title" : "An attribute in the provided entity has the wrong type", "detail" : "'IN_APP_PASS_PROVISIONING' is not a valid value for the attribute 'capabilityType'. Expected one of: 'ICLOUD', 'IN_APP_PURCHASE', 'GAME_CENTER', 'PUSH_NOTIFICATIONS', 'WALLET', 'INTER_APP_AUDIO', 'MAPS', 'ASSOCIATED_DOMAINS', 'PERSONAL_VPN', 'APP_GROUPS', 'HEALTHKIT', 'HOMEKIT', 'WIRELESS_ACCESSORY_CONFIGURATION', 'APPLE_PAY', 'DATA_PROTECTION', 'SIRIKIT', 'NETWORK_EXTENSIONS', 'MULTIPATH', 'HOT_SPOT', 'NFC_TAG_READING', 'CLASSKIT', 'AUTOFILL_CREDENTIAL_PROVIDER', 'ACCESS_WIFI_INFORMATION', 'NETWORK_CUSTOM_PROTOCOL', 'COREMEDIA_HLS_LOW_LATENCY', 'SYSTEM_EXTENSION_INSTALL', 'USER_MANAGEMENT', 'APPLE_ID_AUTH'", "source" : { "pointer" : "/data/attributes/capabilityType" } } ] } How do we set the In-App Provisioning (IN_APP_PASS_PROVISIONING) capability type via the Apple API on bundle IDs that have been approved by Wallet Entitlements?

Autogenerated UI Test Runner Blocked By Local Network Permission Prompt
I've recently updated one of our CI mac mini's to Sequoia in preparation for the transition to Tahoe later this year. Most things seemed to work just fine, however I see this dialog whenever the UI Tests try to run. This application BoostBrowerUITest-Runner is auto-generated by Xcode to launch your application and then run your UI Tests. We do not have any control over it, which is why this is most surprising. I've checked the codesigning identity with codesign -d -vvvv as well as looked at it's Info.plist and indeed the usage descriptions for everything are present (again, this is autogenerated, so I'm not surprised, but just wanted to confirm the string from the dialog was coming from this app) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> I've found the XCUIProtectedResource.localNetwork value, but it seems to only be accessible on iOS for some reason (FB17829325). I'm trying to figure out why this is happening on this machine so I can either fix our code or fix the machine. I have an Apple script that will allow it, but it's fiddly and I'd prefer to fix this the correct way either with the machine or with fixing our testing code.
