App Icon issue in Wallet app
Hi, Upon reviewing our app, we got feedback that our app icon within the Wallet app is not behaving as expected when the home screen is set to "light mode" only. In that case, on the home screen, the app icon remains its default color (e.g., red), regardless of the device's appearance settings (light or dark), which is expected. However, in the apple Wallet, e.g., under the From Apps from your device, app icons change their color (e.g., red in light mode, black in dark mode) when iOS appearance is changed - which is reported as an app issue. I've noticed that all apps in that section are changing the color, not just ours, so it seems to me like a bug in iOS or a behavior that was not clearly defined in the app store guidelines. If there is an API we must use to cover that case, which one would that be? Is this a bug that Apple should resolve, or is this the intended behaviour?

Am I allowed to use FFMPEG and FFPROBE binaries in Mac App Store?
I have built an app that does audio analysis. I have stripped the GPL files from these binaries regarding license issues. The binnaries are in the root folder of ny build next to the .app file MacOs/ I can not run this in sandbox mode. Everything works except for the audio analysis. Can I still submit this to the AppStore and get accepted? Will users whom download the app be able to run the audio analysis? I aaked this on Apple support but they gave me a general answer to appstore documentation Hope someone here has experience with this.

How to publish medical app being a sole proprietorship?
Hi, I’m a doctor who has developed an app to address the common questions I’ve encountered from patients. I operate under a sole proprietorship registered in India. Apple is preventing me from publishing my medical app through an individual account and has not responded to my request to switch to an organization account. It’s been over a week, and I’ve invested significant effort into this project, which is now causing a great deal of anxiety. Can anyone advise me on what steps I should take next?

App Review Stuck in “Waiting for Review” for Almost 2 Months
Dear App Review Team, Two of our apps have been stuck in the “Waiting for Review” status for an unusually long time: App ID: 6505008761 – waiting since June 9, 2025. App ID: 6745278624 – waiting since June 19, 2025. Normally, reviews start within a few days, but in our case, it’s been almost two months without any updates or communication from Apple. We would like to know: Is there a specific reason for this extended hold? Is any action required from our side? When can we expect the review to proceed? Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Problem receiving Remote Notification in the background after Review Rejected
I created an app. One if its functionalities is receive Remote Notification in the background, while app is monitoring Significant Location Changes (SLC). This functionality worked fine. I was receiving these notifications correctly. Sometimes instantly, sometime with small or large delay. And then I send the app for review. It was rejected with 3 remarks: The app or metadata includes information about third-party platforms that may not be relevant for App Store users, who are focused on experiences offered by the app itself (I wrote that app communication works both for iOS and Android.) The app declares support for audio in the UIBackgroundModes key in your Info.plist but we are unable to locate any features that require persistent audio. EULA (End User License Agreement) is missing for in-app purchases. After the rejection the app is no longer receiving these notifications. They are there, since the app receives them, when I open app, or significant location change is detected. It also works, when I run the app directly from Xcode (in debug mode), not from TestFlight nor in Sandbox. It seem to me like Apple somehow spoiled my background capabilities on purpose or accidentally. Is it possible? What can I do with it? Is it the case that I should just fix the review remarks and send the app back to review, and once the app passes it, it will work again? Or should I not count on it? Any suggestions? I asked Apple using: https://developer.apple.com/contact/topic/#!/topic/select but so far no response.

Launching a Sequel That Shares Code/Assets With Original App – Any Platform Conflicts?
Hello! I recently transferred ownership of an old game (hasn't been updated for 6+ years) to my developer account. Since then, I’ve been working on a sequel to the original, but with significant changes. This new title: Is fully redesigned into a a new gameplay experience, metagame systems, progression Has a revamped UI and UX Uses some shared code and assets from the original game that are the underlying game mechanics (previous game was "endless" in each run, this game has hundreds of levels on top of a new roguelike system with hundreds of unlocks) My question is: If I launch this as a new app as a sequel while keeping the original live on the App Store, will there be any potential conflicts from a platform or policy standpoint — especially considering the shared backend, assets, and art? I want to be sure I’m not violating any platform rules related to duplicate or derivative apps, especially since both would be live simultaneously and serve different gameplay purposes. Any insight from Apple staff would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A Discussion on Marketing Sensitive Apps & Navigating App Review with a Privacy-First Approach
Hello everyone, Ujjwal here, founder and CEO of a new iOS app in the mental wellness space. Our mission is to provide accessible, AI-driven support for individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, and loneliness. From the very beginning, this has presented us with a unique and critical challenge: How do we effectively market an app to reach those who need it most, while upholding the absolute highest standards of user privacy? We've built our app, ThunDroid, with a "privacy-by-design" philosophy. We leverage on-device processing for our core AI features, utilize end-to-end encryption, and have proudly integrated 'Sign in with Apple' to maximize user anonymity. We believe these are not just features, but ethical obligations to our users, especially given the nature of the data they trust us with. The challenge, however, arises in marketing. This leads us to focus on mission-driven, organic marketing, but it's a slower path to reaching users who might be in immediate need of support. This brings me to my question for this knowledgeable community. What best practices or creative strategies have you found effective for marketing applications? I appreciate any insights or experiences you're willing to share as we continue to grow ThunDroid responsibly. Thank you for your time and consideration. App Review Delay – Stuck in “Waiting for Review” for Several Days
Hello Apple Developer Support / Community, I’m currently experiencing an unusually long delay with the review process for my app. I submitted a new build several days ago, but the status has remained "Waiting for Review" with no progress or updates. App ID: 6670308720 Normally, my TestFlight or App Store submissions are reviewed within 24–48 hours. This time, however, no builds are moving forward, and it’s causing concern. I'm wondering: Is there a known issue with the review system lately? Should I remove the current build and submit a new one to reset the review queue? Has anyone else experienced the same issue recently? Thank you!

App Review Delay: 3+ Weeks with No Response from Apple
Hello, The initial app review period for our application is taking unusually long. Here are some key characteristics of our app: VPN service Uses a third-party external payment system We understand that VPN applications generally require a longer review time than other types of apps. However, our app was first submitted for review on July 9, 2025, and it has remained in the "In Review" status for more than 3 weeks. What we have done so far: Contacted App Review via email regarding the status Submitted an expedited review request We received a reply stating that the review is delayed, but the status is still "In Review" with no further updates. We would like to know: Should we cancel the current review and submit a new version instead? If anyone has experience with a similar delay, or knows the typical review duration for a first-time VPN app submission, or an app that uses a third-party external payment system, we would greatly appreciate it if you could share your experience. Thank you.

Stuck in Review After Major Fixes
Hey everyone, Looking for some advice. Our app was previously rejected with a few issues (privacy, objectionable content, etc.). We’ve since made all the required fixes, updated our Privacy Policy and Terms, and resubmitted. It stayed in “Waiting for Review” for 5 days and now it’s been in “In Review” for 3 days with no further updates. We’re starting to get a lot of user pressure since people are actively searching for the app, and the update includes critical compliance fixes. Has anyone here dealt with long review times after addressing rejections? Is there anything we can do to help expedite the process (besides contacting App Review through Resolution Center)? Our Submission ID is 9f5cd8cd-323d-4b81-8971-05ec6faaea91.

iOS App Stuck in "Waiting for Review" for 29+ Days
Hi everyone, Our game has been stuck in "Waiting for Review" status for 29 days now (almost a full month), and we’re starting to get very concerned. Details: Game category: Games/Puzzles Version 1.0 All required metadata completed Age rating: 4+ We’ve tried the following steps multiple times: Removed and re-submitted the build four times to draw attention to the submission Submitted an expedited review request (no response or movement) It seems unusually long considering that the typical review time is just a few days. Has anyone else run into similar delays lately? Is there any other way to escalate the issue or get Apple’s attention? Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Suggested Addition to App to bypass Review Process
I have discussed the possibility of incorporating a live chat into the app, with our customer. I have successfully incorporated tawk.to's chat in various other apps for my customers with excellent results. Particularly this will offer assistance to technicians that require help with any issue they might have or they might need assistance with certain aspects of the offered products. It will also be available to all other customers to get answers to more general purpose questions. Finally this platform will give insight to our customer via various metrics he can use to improve the customer communication approach. Does anyone know if this will suffice to make the app eligible for the app store as now the app is Rejected based on 2.1.0 Performance: App Completeness. App Review: Thank you for your response and additional context. Regarding 4.2.2 issue, while you have explained your customer does not want to add additional functionality to the app, this information does not resolve the 4.2.2 issue as the app primarily markets your service or products with limited to no user-facing interactive features. To resolve this issue, it would be appropriate to add additional features such as purchasing products so your app is not just a catalog of items you carry or provide robust interactive content for users. We look forward to reviewing your resubmitted app.

As a Chinese person, I feel that I have been discriminated against by Apple's review process.
We have developed an app called FastUP, which has been constantly reminding us of 4.3(a). We have uploaded the original evidence of the developed code and UI design drafts, but it still keeps giving us this problem. There will be no manual response and no consideration of our explanations. It always just reacts mechanically. This is a repetitive application. Could you please explain how to apply it repeatedly when our code is original and the UI is also original? Is it possible that there can only be one tool-type app in the AppStore? ? Every time during the process of applying for the phone communication, we were told there was no problem, but they still gave us incorrect information and kept deceiving us. Is this not discrimination against us just because we applied for the Chinese voice phone service?

Issues from App Review when submitting a Python app
Hi guys, I am using Python and SciPy to develop a utility app. Planning to publish it on Apple Store for MacOS. So I submitted my app for Apple Review. But I was encountering the following "Guideline 2.5.1 - Performance - Software Requirements". Your app uses or references the following non-public or deprecated APIs: Contents/Frameworks/scipy/linalg/cython_blas.cpython-312-darwin.so Symbols: • _dcabs1_ • _lsame_ Contents/Frameworks/scipy/sparse/linalg/_propack/_spropack.cpython-312-darwin.so Symbols: • _lsame_ Contents/Frameworks/scipy/sparse/linalg/_propack/_zpropack.cpython-312-darwin.so Symbols: • _lsame_ Contents/Frameworks/scipy/sparse/linalg/_propack/_dpropack.cpython-312-darwin.so Symbols: • _lsame_ Contents/Frameworks/scipy/sparse/linalg/_propack/_cpropack.cpython-312-darwin.so Symbols: • _lsame_ Contents/Frameworks/scipy/linalg/cython_lapack.cpython-312-darwin.so Symbols: • _xerbla_array__ The use of non-public or deprecated APIs is not permitted on the App Store, as they can lead to a poor user experience should these APIs change and are otherwise not supported on Apple platforms. They seem from using the SciPy library in my Python app. Is there a way to work around this issue? Please let me know if you have solved this kind of issue before.

Sudden Manual Suppression of “VPN” Keyword Search Results for X‑VPN (Apple ID: 1250312807)
Apple ID: 1250312807 App: X‑VPN Date of Issue: July 16, 2025 On July 16, our app X‑VPN was inexplicably removed from the App Store search results for the high‑traffic keyword “VPN”. There was no prior notice, no reason given, and no policy violation cited. We consistently held a Top 3 ranking for “VPN” for several years, so this sudden disappearance is inconsistent with normal algorithmic fluctuations and strongly suggests manual suppression. Normally, App Store search displays five organic results before any editorial content. However, on July 16, the search for “VPN” showed only three apps, skipped positions #4 and #5, and jumped straight to editorial/promoted content—further evidence that our app has been intentionally hidden. We have already contacted the Apple Search team, but their responses insist that “everything looks normal.” Given that “VPN” generates over 200,000 searches per day, it is highly unlikely for a Top 3 app to vanish without cause. We are confident this is manual action. We have exhausted all known channels and don’t know where else to raise this issue. Could someone please investigate and provide a clear explanation?
