iOS 26: iPhone will not power on stuck on battery screen
I set iOS 26 to install overnight, put my iPhone 16 Pro on the MagSafe charger, watched it charge just fine, and went to sleep. When I woke up the iPhone showed the “plug into power” dead battery screen. I took it off MagSafe and put it back on. A half hour later the phone was warm but still wouldn’t power on, just showed the battery screen with a little red in it. I took it off MagSafe and plugged it into my iPad charging brick with USB cable to give it more power, still it did not turn on. I tried holding all the buttons to try to force a restart but didn’t work. For anyone else encountering this, do this to enter DFU mode and restore it. I had to do it a few times before I got the timing right. Plug into your Mac and open Finder (or apparently a PC with Apple Devices or iTunes) Press and quickly release volume up Press and quickly release volume down Press and hold right side button When the battery disappears and screen goes black, hold volume down and continue holding side button After a couple seconds release the side button and continue holding volume down A prompt to allow connecting to the iPhone should appear after a couple seconds, click Allow, and it’ll say the iPhone entered DFU mode - proceed to restore the firmware

iOS 26 iPhone won't charge and keeps restarting.
I have an iPhone 14 Pro. I downloaded the iOS 26 beta and had a SERIOUS error, rendering the phone unusable. I charged it to 60% and kept it plugged in while updating. While updating, I restarted several times at the Apple logo, then at the Welcome screen, and it had quite a few bugs with low battery warnings. When I turned it on, I noticed I had 1% (I thought it was strange). When it was plugged in, it wouldn't charge; it only had 1% left, and it also restarted every 2 minutes. Off-plugged, it did exactly the same thing. In the end, I had to go back to iOS 18.5; I had no problems with this version.

Optimization Suggestion: Update Queue Prioritization by Payload Size.
Dear Developers, I would like to suggest an optimization for the logic governing the download and installation queue for app updates. Currently, when multiple applications are awaiting updates, the prioritization does not appear to consider the update payload size. My proposal is to implement a logic that prioritizes the download and installation of updates with a smaller delta size (fewer MB) before those with a larger delta. Practical Example: A 1MB update would be processed before a 500MB update, even if their arrival order in the queue was inverted. Potential Benefits: Perceived Speed Optimization (UX): Users would gain access to functional applications more quickly, especially in scenarios with multiple pending updates. Network Efficiency: In limited or intermittent bandwidth scenarios, completing smaller downloads first can reduce the chance of download failures and optimize network resource utilization. Device Resource Management: Frees up temporary storage and processing resources more rapidly for smaller updates. I believe this optimization would bring significant gains in terms of User Experience (UX) and the operational efficiency of the platform. Thank you for your attention and consideration. Sincerely,

[Proposal] Sense & Store – Intelligent App Suggestions from Safari (with On-Device AI)
Hello everyone, I’d like to propose Sense & Store — a seamless integration between Safari and the App Store, powered by on-device AI, designed to understand what users are reading, searching, or selecting in Safari, and suggest relevant apps that match their current context or intention. 🔍 Key Idea: “Sense” the user’s need through intelligent analysis of web content, then “Store” — offer the most relevant app, either already installed or available in the App Store. 🌟 Core Features: • AI-powered context detection directly inside Safari • Real-time app suggestions based on user intent • Smart overlays when selecting text or data (e.g., phone numbers, emails, tools) • Privacy-first: All AI runs on-device (Apple Neural Engine) • Instant App Launch or Installation via StoreKit ✅ Examples: • Reading an article on productivity? → Suggests Notion or Things. • Looking up meditation tips? → Recommends Calm or Headspace. • Selecting a phone number? → Offers CRM or spam blocker apps. • Exploring code samples? → Suggests Pythonista or developer tools. 🔒 Privacy & Performance: • 100% on-device intelligence (no data sent to servers) • Follows Apple’s privacy framework • Works with SafariKit + StoreKit + CoreML ⸻ I’m happy to provide a full prototype roadmap and technical architecture. Feedback and collaboration are welcome! Would love to hear your thoughts — especially from developers who build for Safari, App Clips, or work with CoreML. Thanks! Jose Luiz Horta Barbosa Maurity Cruz - Apple lover...

SwiftData error: NSKeyedUnarchiveFromData' should not be used to for un-archiving and will be removed in a future release
I am using SwiftData for my model. Until Xcode 15 beta 4 I did not have issues. Since beta 5 I am receiving the following red warning multiple times: 'NSKeyedUnarchiveFromData' should not be used to for un-archiving and will be removed in a future release This seems to be a CoreData warning. However, I am not using CoreData directly. I have no way to change the config of CoreData as used by SwiftData. My model just uses UUID, Int, String, Double, some of them as optionals or Arrays. I only use one attribute (.unique).

PDFKit PDFPage.characterBounds(at:) returns incorrect coordinates iOS 18 beta 4
PDFKit PDFPage.characterBounds(at: Int) is returning incorrect coordinates with iOS 18 beta 4 and later / Xcode 16 beta 4. It worked fine in iOS 17 and earlier (after showing the same issue during the early iOS 17 beta cycle) It breaks critical functionality that my app relies on. I have filed feedback (FB14843671). So far no changes in the latest betas. iOS release date is approaching fast! Anybody having the same issue? Any workaround available?

iOS 18 open settings URLs
A lot of apps use undocumented App-prefs URLs to help users get to the iOS Settings screen needed to set up the app. In iOS 18, it seems like these all stopped working. Here are the ones I currently use: App-prefs:MESSAGES - broken in iOS 18 Used for SMS Protection. App-prefs:Phone - broken in iOS 18 Used for Live Voicemail, Silence Unknown Callers, and SMS Reporting. Some but not most paths have specific documented replacements. E.g. for Call Blocking & Identification you can use CXCallDirectoryManager.sharedInstance.openSettings() and this still works in iOS 18. But I don't see any other direct replacements. Apple probably doesn't consider this a bug but I filed FB14378568 anyway. I consider this an accessibility issue because many older, inexperienced, or users with disabilities have trouble finding the right Settings screen based on a textual description alone.

SwiftData iOS18: "Could not materialize Objective-C class named "Set" from declared attribute value type "Set<String>" of attribute named..."
Posting here to see if folks have workarounds or if I have a misunderstanding of SwiftData supported types. In adopting SwiftData, I have swiftData properties of collection type (Array or Set - both have this issue). E.g: @Model final class Item { var timestamp: Date var strings = ["aa", "bb"] var display: String { strings.joined(separator: " ") } init(timestamp: Date) { self.timestamp = timestamp } } So far in development I haven't had issues on iOS 17, but on the iOS 18 betas 4-5 the app logs show the following error: "fault: Could not materialize Objective-C class named "Array" from declared attribute value type "Array<String>" of attribute named strings" It happens immediately in my app when creating an object with a collection attribute. In a minimal test example, the error log appears only after a few minutes and doesn't seem to affect the template app's basic functionality. Anyone else running into this? Was filed as FB14397250

BGTaskScheduler crashes on iOS 18.4
I've been seeing a high number of BGTaskScheduler related crashes, all of them coming from iOS 18.4. I've encountered this myself once on launch upon installing my app, but haven't been able to reproduce it since, even after doing multiple relaunches and reinstalls. Crash report attached at the bottom of this post. I am not even able to symbolicate the reports despite having the archive on my MacBook: Does anyone know if this is an iOS 18.4 bug or am I doing something wrong when scheduling the task? Below is my code for scheduling the background task on the view that appears when my app launches: .onChange(of: scenePhase) { newPhase in if newPhase == .active { #if !os(macOS) let request = BGAppRefreshTaskRequest(identifier: "notifications") request.earliestBeginDate = Calendar.current.date(byAdding: .hour, value: 3, to: Date()) do { try BGTaskScheduler.shared.submit(request) Logger.notifications.log("Background task scheduled. Earliest begin date: \(request.earliestBeginDate?.description ?? "nil", privacy: .public)") } catch let error { // print("Scheduling Error \(error.localizedDescription)") Logger.notifications.error("Error scheduling background task: \(error.localizedDescription, privacy: .public)") } #endif ... } 2025-02-23_19-53-50.2294_+0000-876d2b8ec083447af883961da90398f00562f781.crash

StoreKit Subscription Fails to Load During App Review, Works in Sandbox/TestFlight
Hi everyone, I’m facing a recurring issue with my macOS app being rejected during App Store review, and I’d really appreciate any guidance. The subscription flow in my app is implemented using StoreKit, and everything works perfectly in our development environment using a StoreKit configuration file. It also behaves as expected in Sandbox testing and TestFlight — I even had few beta testers confirm that the subscription information is displayed correctly and the purchase flow completes without issues. All required subscription details are configured in App Store Connect: • Subscription duration and the description of the services offered • Price and price per unit where applicable • Paid apps agreement and related forms are correctly filled However, when the app is submitted for review, the subscription screen fails to display the expected information. From what I can tell, the product information fails to load from the App Store in the review environment — even though everything is working fine on our side. We’ve already submitted a video to Apple showing the subscription UI working in the Sandbox environment, but the app continues to be rejected under guideline 3.1.2 due to missing subscription info in the binary. Is anyone else experiencing similar behavior during review? Could there be a caching issue or delay in StoreKit syncing for newly configured products? Any help or suggestions are very welcome. Thanks in advance!

TestFlight Public Beta - Review Notes visible
I submitted an App for TestFlight review in order to undertake a Public Beta program. In the App Review Information I included notes for the review process, including information that may be needed to test your app, such as app-specific settings and test registration or account details. The above link says You must provide the following information to App Review. It isn’t visible to customers. However, the public beta site includes the Review Notes, including test credentials! Is this a bug, or simply a misunderstanding on my part?

iOS 18.5 update live streaming bug
Our app supports live streaming (RTSP, RTMP, WebRTC) functionality. After updating to the 18.5 Developer Beta version, we’ve encountered an issue where streaming over LTE is not working for customers using SKT (SK Telecom) as their carrier. Upon investigation, it seems that a similar issue might be occurring with a streaming service app called "SOOP." I would appreciate it if you could share any information regarding this bug. Thank you.

connect() iOS 18.5 Developer Beta (22EF5042g)
Hello! 👋 I am noticing new failures in the iOS 18.5 Developer Beta build (22EF5042g) when calling the system call connect() (from C++ source, in network extension). When using cell/mobile data (Mint & T-Mobile) this returns with EINTR (interrupted system call) right away. When I switch over to wifi, everything works fine. Note: I have not tested on other mobile carriers; which could make a difference since T-Mobile/Mint are IPv6 networks. FWIW, this is working in the previous developer beta (18.4). Anyone have any ideas?

Processor Trace not Working on C/C++ Console Apps
Hi, When I run the new Processor Trace instrument on a simple C or C++ console app, it hangs in "Analyzing - Transferring data" upon finishing the measurement. When I run it without any other instrument, I get the error: Failed to stop recording session: Data Providers emitted errors: CPUTrace Any ideas what I could try, or how to get a more verbose log of this failure? Best, Ronny P.S.: I'm using a Macbook Pro M4 Pro 14". MacOs Version 15.4 Beta (24E5228e)
