Using Wallet.app to open doors with NFC reader
G'day. At my office the doors are locked with an NFC reader. We carry around a little NFC tag on our key chains which will read out a number and this then will open the door if the number matches a number in the database. I am tired of carrying around the tag, people keep loosing it, forgetting it and it would be nice to open the door using a Phone - which we tend to always have on us. So I used a credit card which is NFC enabled to readout the NFC information, added this number to the database and can now open doors using my credit card. This is pretty cool. If I forget my keys (most likely they will be on the desk but silly me left the desk without them), I may have my wallet with me. Then I tried Wallet.app on my iPhone and select the same credit card. However the door doesn't open. When looking in the door software I noticed that the tags will always transmit the same number. So does my credit card. However Wallet.app will read out 4 readings (or maybe just one very long one) and they are always different. So I can not make them match with the door database. Any ideas how to make this work? Can I give somehow wallet.app an NFC number which I can then add to my door database? Or how come the credit card and the very same one in wallet.app don't match? Thanks for your help! Would be neat if I could make this work out. This will make a lot of people happy at my office! Cheers!

IOS 26 - Lock Iphone during install on "low battery" page
Hi! Just downloaded the IOS 26 beta software to my Iphone 15 128gb and during the second phase of installation of the update (when the phone start rebooting a few time) my iphone showed the display of low battery with the time displayed on the top left corner of the screen, even though my Iphone was pluged in during the full time of the install and had more than 50% of battery before launching the installation. So far-here is what i know: I wouldn't be able to confirm if the install was successfull or not i tried forced reboot a few time but i keep landing on the low battery page some other people are experiencing the same problem as i am as i could confirm on the reddit dedicated to the IOS26beta page

HCE in iPhone
Hello, maybe anyone know anything about HCE (Host card emulation) feature on iOS? As far as I read, it's not possible to achieve this functionality on iOS, but maybe there are plans to implement that? Or maybe it's clear that it wont be allowed to be used at all? Thanks:)

Unable to receiveMessage: after NEHotspotConfiguration setup
(iOS 17.3) I'm using the Apple supplied iOS sample project "ConfiguringAWiFiAccessoryToJoinTheUsersNetwork" as a base to write an App to configure an existing WiFi device using the NEHotspotConfiguration API's. I have almost everything working, and can join the network and send a packet to the device to configure it. I know that it is working as the device responds properly to what I send it. But I am not able to receive the response back from the device to the packet sent. (Only need 1 packet sent and 1 packet received) However. If I run a packet sniffer on the phone before running my test App, then I do get a response. No packet sniffer running, no response. When I do a debugDescription on the NWConnection after it reaches ".ready", I notice that when the sniffer is running I'm using loopback lo0: [C1 connected 192.168.4.1:80 tcp, url: http://192.168.4.1:80, attribution: developer, path satisfied (Path is satisfied), viable, interface: lo0] and I get a packet response in the NWConnection receiveMessage callback. But with no sniffer running, I get interface en0: [C1 connected 192.168.4.1:80 tcp, url: http://192.168.4.1:80, attribution: developer, path satisfied (Path is satisfied), viable, interface: en0[802.11], ipv4, dns, uses wifi] and there is no callback to the receiveMessage handler and the NWconnection eventually times out. The interface used seems to be the only difference that I can see when I have a sniffer running. Any ideas as to why I can't see a response in "normal" operation?

Help needed identifying commands for remote access
Hey everyone, I’m new to here and have very basic Knowledge so was hoping one of you geniuses could help me. I have had my devices hacked into remotely and monitored remotely for a number of weeks now. I have done all the security measures including erasing, new phone, sim, Vpns etc and still have the issue of my phone network being accessed. I believe code has been added to my phone or apps but I just don’t know what it looks like. I was hoping someone could take a look at some code for me and help me work it out as it has been driving me nuts. im not sure if I can post this on here so apologies if I offend anyone by doing so but I would be ever so grateful of some help. Thank you. Paul

iOS App udp and local network permission
Recently, my application was having trouble sending udp messages after it was reinstalled. The cause of the problem was initially that I did not grant local network permissions when I reinstalled, I was aware of the problem, so udp worked fine after I granted permissions. However, the next time I repeat the previous operation, I also do not grant local network permissions, and then turn it back on in the Settings, and udp does not work properly (no messages can be sent, the system version and code have not changed). Fortunately, udp worked after rebooting the phone, and more importantly, I was able to repeat the problem many times. So I want to know if the process between when I re-uninstall the app and deny local network permissions, and when I turn it back on in Settings, is that permissions have been granted normally, and not fake, and not required a reboot to reset something for udp to take effect. I'm not sure if it's the system, or if it's a similar situation as described here, hopefully that will help me find out

iPhone 17(iOS26) Unable to join the Wi-Fi(TKIP)
Device: iPhone 17 Series System: iOS 26.0.0 Wi-Fi: TKIP encryption protocol Question: Unable to join the network We have several products that are used by connecting to iPhone via Wi-Fi. Recently, many customers who have purchased the iPhone 17 series have reported that they are unable to connect to Wi-Fi. For Wi-Fi with TKIP encryption, after entering the password correctly to connect to the Wi-Fi, a pop-up appears stating "Unable to join the network.". Only Wi-Fi with WPA2-AES can be used normally. Before that, during the iPhone 11 era or even earlier, the TKIP encryption method was in normal use. However, the new iPhone models were incompatible with it, which obviously caused great inconvenience. I hope the engineers can fix this issue to support Wi-Fi with older encryption protocols.

iPhone 17, IOS 26 - No option to enable ‘Processor Trace’
According to the documentation for Processor Trace, it should be available on the iPhone 16 or later. Going off of the Optimize CPU performance with Instruments WWDC session, the toggle for it should be under Developer > Performance, but I don’t see this option anywhere on my iPhone 17. I can’t run a Processor Trace in Instruments without this feature turned on, because it claims my iPhone’s CPU is unsupported. Has anyone else managed to enable Processor Trace on the A19 chips?

Why are system reserved files consuming half of my storage?
I am constantly running out of storage on my iPhone 16 Pro. I keep having to move my photos and videos to my laptop and delete them from my phone, and I’m constantly needing to offload apps and manually clear caches in some apps to free up storage. I finally got sick of having this cycle every two weeks so looked into it more closely. I’m finding that iOS consumes 32 GB, and then another system reserve category is consuming an additional 23 GB. Meaning the system reserved files are consuming half of the storage on this phone and effectively making it a 64 GB model. I understand the system will need to consume some capacity for itself and that iOS is getting larger, but nearly 50% of the capacity of the phone is insane. Looking closer into the categories, I’m seeing that iOS has taken it upon itself to also permanently provision 10% of the storage capacity for reserve update space. Already another instance of “why am I having to lose so much of my functional capacity to an occasional process?” but I can understand the utility of this — if I didn’t still have to offload basically all my apps every single time I run a software update, because I’m still some not-insignificant amount short. I seem to recall it being between 6-20 GB across the different updates I’ve had to do since iOS 26 rolled around. I’d also like to be clear that preprovisioning the storage space for updates isn’t a bad idea, just give us an off switch if we’d rather be able to take a few hundred more photos, have another few apps, etc. than have the space sit mostly unused. The biggest culprit is this “system data” category which is somehow consuming as much space as the entire operating system and its extensions. There’s no clear way to request iOS to clear this down if some of it is temporary data, which we should have a button for even if Apple thinks it should “just work.” Windows usually trims down on its temp files, but on the occasion you go look and see 67 GB of temporary files, being able to manually run the disk cleanup tool is very helpful. I’m hesitant to try any third party app because I shouldn’t need to, and knowing Apple, it wouldn’t have access to anything it would actually have to touch anyway. Which is neither here nor there, but give us a button to clear cache or maybe run the cleanup when the phone reboots? I am running the developer beta right now so maybe that’s part of it. However I’m not sure… I had switched to mainline release for a while when it released, and it didn’t seem any different with storage consumption and battery drain. I jumped back to beta to see some of the new features and am waiting for another mainline release to switch back to as the recent betas have been much more unstable/buggy than the entire prerelease beta period. Just wondering if anyone has any kind of input on this storage issue in particular as it’s not really been talked about as much as the battery drain issue from what I can see.

Using Cellular Data While Connected to Wifi
Hello, A quick background: I am developing an App that receives a data stream from a device through its Wi-Fi network. The device itself is not connected to the internet, so the app won't be either. Now, I am adding a new feature to the App that would require internet connection during the data stream. Consequently, my users would need to use their cellular data. On later versions of iPhone, the phone would occasionally detect the lack of internet connection and asks the user via a pop-up if they want to use their cellular data. However, this behavior is not consistent. So my question is- can we programmatically invoke this pop-up so the user can connect to the internet? Or even better- can we program the App to use cellular data while still being connected to a Wi-Fi network? Note: I have seen mixed answers on the internet whether this is doable or not, and I know that users are able do it themselves by manually configuring their IP in their WiFi settings page, but I doubt this operation can be done through the App for security reasons. Thanks!

Bluetooth Connectivity Issues
Since 17.4 Dev Beta 2, I have been having Bluetooth issues. I had hoped it would have cleared up but even in 17.4.1 it continues. Airpod and Echo Auto are the only 2 audio devices I have. The audio will become chopping, rubber band or sound robotic and sometime completely disconnect. While driving it will occur on both audio devices. Sometimes I'm stopped at red light and the issue occurs. The phone is less than 3 feet from the device at all times. I have read forums and removed and readded the devices but that did not help. I really do not want to have to reset my phone since my 2FA apps do not recover in a restore. Anyone have any suggestions?

iOS 26 iPhone won't charge and keeps restarting.
I have an iPhone 14 Pro. I downloaded the iOS 26 beta and had a SERIOUS error, rendering the phone unusable. I charged it to 60% and kept it plugged in while updating. While updating, I restarted several times at the Apple logo, then at the Welcome screen, and it had quite a few bugs with low battery warnings. When I turned it on, I noticed I had 1% (I thought it was strange). When it was plugged in, it wouldn't charge; it only had 1% left, and it also restarted every 2 minutes. Off-plugged, it did exactly the same thing. In the end, I had to go back to iOS 18.5; I had no problems with this version.

Issue with App Crashing After Download from App Store
Hi, I am experiencing a critical issue with my app (dbMobil) in its published state. When the app is installed via TestFlight, it works without any problems and no errors can be detected. However, when downloading the same app from the App Store, it immediately crashes for many users without displaying any error message, directly at app start. This issue also occurs on my own test devices: TestFlight version: works flawlessly App Store version: crashes immediately upon launch It appears that there must be a difference between the version I submitted and published via TestFlight and the one currently available on the App Store. Could you please provide me with feedback on what differences may exist between these two versions and where the cause of this issue might lie? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Very technical question about the 'project.pbxproj' file. Targeted devices?
Hello In my app code (in flutter) but you can remain if you code in other langages, maybe you can help in other ways, I have a file called: project.pbxproj I am wondering about this line: ARGETED_DEVICE_FAMILY = "1,2"; Is it true that the 1 is for Iphone and 2 for Ipad? Would that mean that if I wrote "1" and removed 2, then in my app page in developer store side I would not see a tab for Ipad where the store requires from me to post screenshots for ipad? For instance (see image below) I know you guys use XCODE and it handels it itself, but can you open your .ipa files and check "project.pbxproj" to confirm differences between these files when the app is targeting Iphone Vs targeting Ipad? Thanks

Scene-based Launch Detection
Our app supports UIScene. As a result, launchOptions in application(_:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:) is always nil. However, the documentation mentions that UIApplication.LaunchOptionsKey.location should be present when the app is launched due to a location event. Given that our app is scene-based: How can we reliably determine whether the app was launched due to a location update, geofence, or significant location change? Is there a recommended pattern or API to detect this scenario in a Scene-based app lifecycle? This information is critical for us to correctly initialize location-related logic on launch. Relevant documentation: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/corelocation/cllocationmanager/startmonitoringsignificantlocationchanges()

Problem NumberFormatter with Locale
We have identified an issue when using NumberFormatter with the locale set to it_IT. Specifically, when formatting numbers with exactly four integer digits, the grouping separator is not applied: for example, the number is displayed as 4000,00 instead of the expected 4.000,00. This behavior occurs only with four-digit integers; for instance, 40.000,00 is formatted correctly. The issue appears to affect only iOS 18.4 and later versions.

Can I use my Apple Developer Account for free at the time of development?
Hello, I want to use universal links in my application, for which I need to get the TeamID and BundleId, for apple-app-site-association file. Can you please tell me, do I have to buy an Apple Developer Account at the time of development to do this, or can I get it all for free at the time of development?
