iOS 26 didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken is not being called
We have an app in Swift that uses push notifications. It has a deployment target of iOS 15.0 I originally audited our app for iOS 26 by building it with Xcode 26 beta 3. At that point, all was well. Our implementation of application:didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken was called. But when rebuilding the app with beta 4, 5 and now 6, that function is no longer being called. I created a simple test case by creating a default iOS app project, then performing these additional steps: Set bundle ID to our app's ID Add the Push Notifications capability Add in application:didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken: with a print("HERE") just to set a breakpoint. Added the following code inside application:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions: along with setting a breakpoint on the registerForRemoteNotifications line: UNUserNotificationCenter.current().requestAuthorization(options: [.badge, .alert, .sound]) { granted, _ in DispatchQueue.main.async { UIApplication.shared.registerForRemoteNotifications() } } Building and running with Xcode 26 beta 6 (17A5305f) generates these two different outcomes based upon the OS running in the Simulator: iPhone 16 Pro simulator running iOS 18.4 - both breakpoints are reached iPhone 16 Pro simulator running iOS 26 - only the breakpoint on UIApplication.shared.registerForRemoteNotifications is reached. Assuming this is a bug in iOS 26. Or, is there something additional we now need to do to get push notifications working?

iOS 26 & Xcode 26 - bug with keyboard by WebView
Environment iOS 26 (23A343) Xcode 26 Reproduces on device and Simulator Description When presenting a SwiftUI WebView (native iOS 26 component) or a WKWebView/UIWebView via UIViewRepresentable, focusing a text field inside the web view and then dismissing it breaks the keyboard layout behavior. After returning to the main app, tapping any TextField causes the keyboard to cover bottom controls (e.g. buttons). Expected safe area insets are not applied. The issue is only resolved after closing and reopening the keyboard once. Steps to Reproduce Open a SwiftUI screen with WebView (via .sheet or NavigationLink). Inside the web view, tap a text field to show the keyboard. Dismiss the web view. Tap a TextField in the main app. Expected Result Layout should adjust correctly. Bottom controls stay visible above the keyboard. Actual Result Keyboard covers bottom controls. Insets are ignored until the keyboard is dismissed and reopened. Unwanted Communication Reporting extension crash
I'm trying to implement Unwanted SMS and Calls reporting in an app I'm doing in my idle time. If I place a UITextField or UITextView inside a ILClassificationUIExtensionViewController, every time I select on such control the extension crashes without any logs. The closet idea I have on why it crashes it has something to do with iOS requesting the dictation feature. I'm using the latest (beta 8 at the time) iOS 16.0 beta on my iPhone 13 pro. Does "Locked and hidden apps" feature of iOS 18 support deep link?
Our app includes showing external web service with WebView or Safari and returning to the app with custom URL scheme or universal link. When we set "Hide and Require Face ID" feature which was available on iOS 18, neither custom URL scheme nor universal link activated the app. If we only set "Require Face ID", the deep link worked properly. macOS 26.0 Tahoe + Xcode 26.0.1 Simulator causes system-wide audio distortion
After upgrading to macOS 26.0 Tahoe and Xcode 26.0.1, I’ve noticed an issue with audio playback whenever the iOS Simulator is running. Device: MacBook Pro 13" (2020, Intel, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD) Issue: Any sound played on the Mac (system sounds, music, videos) begins to break/distort once the Simulator is active. App Sounds: If the app running inside the Simulator plays audio, that audio also breaks/distorts. Previous Version: This issue did not occur on macOS Sequoia 15 or with Xcode 16. Everything was working fine before the upgrade.

IOS Safari support for WebTransport
We're developing a service that requires webtransport support in the browser. Currently, the only browser that doesn't provide support is the IOS version of Safari. Our current way forward for client use is to flag iphone and ipad as non compliant and recommend either desktop use or android. Is there any ballpark date as to when WebTransport will be included in IOS Safari (- webkit supports webtransport)?

Errors with PerfPowerTelemetryClientRegistrationService and PPSClientDonation when running iOS application in Xcode
I've suddenly started seeing hundreds of the same block of four error messages (see attached image) when running my app on my iOS device through Xcode. I've tried Cleaning the Build folder, but I keep seeing these messages in the console but can't find anything about them. Phone is running iOS 26.1. Xcode is at 16.4. Mac is on Sequoia 15.5. The app is primarily a MapKit SwiftUI based application. WKWebView crash on iOS 26 Beta with -webkit-user-select: none
On iOS 26 Beta, WKWebView consistently crashes when interacting with pages that use -webkit-user-select: none. This issue does not reproduce in Safari, but only when the same content is loaded inside a WKWebView. Steps to Reproduce: Install iOS 26 Beta. Open a WKWebView that loads a webpage with the following style applied globally: -webkit-user-select: none; Perform the following gesture sequence inside the WKWebView: Double tap anywhere in the web content. On the second tap, keep your finger pressed (do not lift). While still holding the second tap, drag your finger across the screen (pan). This sequence reliably produces the crash. Expected Result: No crash. The gesture should either be ignored or handled gracefully. Insight into BaseBoard/FrontBoardServices Crashes Needed
We're seeing a sharp uptick in BaseBoard/FrontBoardServices crashes since we migrated from UIApplicationDelegate to UIWindowSceneDelegate. Having exhausted everything on my end short of reverse engineering BaseBoard or making changes without being able to know if they work, I need help. I think all I need to get unstuck is an answer to these questions, if possible: What does -[BSSettings initWithSettings:] enumerate over? If I know what's being enumerated, I'll know what to look for in our app. What triggers FrontBoardServices to do this update? If I can reproduce the crash--or at least better understand when it may happen--I will be better able to fix it Here's two similar stack traces: App_(iOS)-crashreport-07-30-2025_1040-0600-redacted.crash App_(iOS)-crashreport-07-30-2025_1045-0600-redacted.crash Since these are private trameworks, there is no documentation or information on their behavior that I can find. There are other forum posts regarding this crash, on here and on other sites. However, I did not find any that shed any insight on the cause or conditions of the crash. Additionally, this is on iPhone, not macOS, and not iPad. This post is different, because I'm asking specific questions that can be answered by someone with familiarity on how these internal frameworks work. I'm not asking for help debugging my application, though I'd gladly take any suggestions/tips! Here's the long version, in case anyone finds it useful: In our application, we have seen a sharp rise in crashes in BaseBoard and FrontBoardServices, which are internal iOS frameworks, since we migrated our app to use UIWindowSceneDelegate. We were using exclusively UIApplicationDelegate before. The stack traces haven't proven very useful yet, because we haven't been able to reproduce the crashes ourselves. Upon searching online, we have learned that Baseboard/Frontsoardservices are probably copying scene settings upon something in the scene changing. Based on our crash reports, we know that most of our users are on an iPhone, not an iPad or macOS, so we can rule out split screen or window resizing. Our app is locked to portrait as well, so we can also rule out orientation changes. And considering the stack trace is in the middle of an objc_retain_x2 call, which is itself inside of a collection enumeration, we are assuming that whatever is being enumerated probably was changed or deallocated during enumeration. Sometimes it's objc_retain_x2, and sometimes it's a release call. And sometimes it's a completely different stack trace, but still within BaseBoard/FrontBoardServices. I suspect these all share the same cause. Because it's thread 0 that crashed, we know that BaseBoard/FrontBoardServices were running on the main thread, which means that for this crash to occur, something might be changing on a background thread. This is what leads me to suspect a race condition. There are many places in our app where we accidentally update the UI from a background thread. We've fixed many of them, but I'm sure there are more. Our app is large. Because of this, I think background UI are the most likely cause. However, since I can't reproduce the crash, and because none of our stack traces clearly show UI updates happening on another thread at the same time, I am not certain. SwiftUI iOS 26 .safeAreaBar issue with large navigation title
I have some really straight forward code in a sample project. For some reason when the app launches the title is blurred obscured by scrolledgeeffect blur. If I scroll down the title goes small as it should do and all looks fine. If I scroll back to the top, just before it reaches the top the title goes large and it looks correct, but once it actually reaches/snaps to the top, is then incorrectly blurs again. Is there anything obvious I'm doing wrong? iOS 26 navigationTransition .zoom issue
When I dismiss a view presented with .navigationTransition(.zoom), the source view gets a weird background (black or white depending on the appearance) for a couple of seconds, and then it disappears. Request: Restore Launchpad Functionality or Allow Customizable App Organization in macOS Tahoe
With macOS Tahoe, Launchpad has been replaced by an App Library–style mode within Spotlight. While the alleged intention is UX consistency across the Apple ecosystem, the result is both a catastrophic usability regression and a radical break in consistency with iOS and iPadOS. Predefined App Library categorization is functionally incoherent: On iOS and now macOS, Apple’s predefined App Library categories place apps with seemingly identical functionality into unrelated groups—for example, 3D scanning tools scattered across Education, Utilities, and Productivity. Instead of making apps easier to find, this effectively creates a labyrinth that users must traverse to locate apps whose names and icons they may not recall. However Apple defines its app categories, they are not only inconsistent but also hopelessly inadequate for the long tail of real-world applications and user workflows. Loss of user control: Launchpad enabled users to group and organize applications according to their workflows. This aligns with Apple’s own Human Interface Guidelines, which emphasize user control, discoverability, and predictable behavior. The new Spotlight interface removes that flexibility, locking users into predefined categories that both impede and mislead—and cannot be overridden. Consistency across platforms is broken: If the goal was to unify iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, this approach actually undermines consistency. On iOS and iPadOS, users can still rely on a customizable Home Screen—a Launchpad-like experience—as their primary way of launching apps. In Tahoe, that option has been removed. macOS now forces users to depend exclusively on Spotlight with App Library categories, while eliminating the very feature that was consistent across platforms. Catastrophic impact on my workflow: As an interdisciplinary artist working in 2D, 3D, and time-based media, as well as coding, I make extensive use of a constantly changing array of AI tools and experiment with many new apps and web services, which I often turn into Web Apps. I cannot possibly recall the names of every native and web app on my system. I need predictable access to groups of related tools. Tahoe’s new auto-categories split those apps apart arbitrarily, slowing me down and interrupting established workflows, forcing me to navigate the aforementioned labyrinth just to find what I need. Proposal: A constructive way forward High-level objective: Simply restore Launchpad—or restore the ability to customize app categories/folders and manually assign apps to them, overriding or augmenting the predefined categories. This ensures users can launch apps according to their workflow, without needing to remember exact names or icons. Possible solutions: Allow manual subfolders within Applications, represented hierarchically in Spotlight. Provide a fullscreen Launchpad-like organizer (with uninstall via long-click, etc.), either as a replacement or toggleable option. Retain Apple’s auto-categories for those who prefer them, but let users override or augment them with their own. In summary: Tahoe eliminates a working, consistent paradigm (Launchpad/Home Screen) and forces reliance on an App Library system that categorizes poorly and cannot be customized. This is both a step backwards in functionality and a break in cross-platform consistency. A constructive solution is to restore Launchpad—or at least restore the ability for users to organize apps in ways that fit their workflows.

The Liquid glass blur effect does not show over the UITabBar as content scrolls underneath.
In iOS26, when using a standalone UITabBar without UITabBarController, the liquid glass blur effect is not applied when scrollable content moves behind the tab bar. However, the blur effect appears correctly when using UITabBarController. The relationship between age verification and permission kit isn't clear (IMO)
I'm trying to digest and understand the new set of APIs relating age verification that were released last week. I have say that without some cohesive overview, example app, just a simple diagram showing the relationship of everything, its not at all clear to me what's going on nor what an app developer is expected to do to use these apis (I'm a senior engineer with 15 year's iOS experience, but hey maybe I'm just a bit slow in the head). I have a few questions, but the topic of this post is what is the relationship between age verification i.e. between the declared age range/significant change and Permission Kit? If it does mean that, then how does an app which has nothing to do with iMessage make use of Significant Change - because this documentation:https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=2ezb6jhj Is talking about using significant change for all apps, not iMessage. So there is a contradiction here.

Bluetooth connection unexpectedly timing out with macOS Sequoia
After the macOS Sequoia update, my app seems to have an issue with Bluetooth communication between macOS and iOS that uses CoreBluetooth for Central-Peripheral communication. Setup: The iPhone (in my case: iPhone 14 Pro with iOS 18.0 (22A3354)) acts as the Central, and the Mac (in my case: 14" MacBook Pro 2023 with macOS 15.0 (24A335)) as the Peripheral. I’ve implemented a mechanism where the Central (iPhone) sends a message to the Peripheral (Mac) every 15 seconds to keep the connection alive (Because it needs to wait for notify characteristic updates). I never noticed this kind of issue before, but with macOS Sequoia I get it permanently. Issue: The connection drops unexpectedly after a period of time (sometimes 20 seconds, sometimes a few minutes) with CBErrorDomain - code 6: The connection has timed out unexpectedly. Sample Code: Peripheral (Mac): ContentView (Peripheral).txt ContentViewModel (Peripheral).txt Central (iPhone): ContentView (Central).txt ContentViewModel (Central).txt Reproduce: I attached sample code including the Central-Sample (for iPhone) and Peripheral-Sample (for Mac). Just run the Peripheral-Sample (after granting Bluetooth permissions). Then run the Central-Sample and select the Mac device in the list After selecting it should connect, discover the service & characteristic and should start writing messages to it. After some time the func centralManager(_ central: CBCentralManager, didDisconnectPeripheral peripheral: CBPeripheral, error: (any Error)?) {should get called with timed out unexpectedly error. Could anyone please look into this issue and advise on whether there’s a known bug or any workaround? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated, as this impacts the stability of Bluetooth communication between the devices. Thanks in advance. Exception unarchiving UIToolbar in iOS 18.5 simulator with Xcode 26 beta 2
I'm running into a persistent problem with the iOS 18.5 simulator in Xcode 26 beta 2. I have built a very simple test app with a storyboard that includes only a toolbar added to the ViewController scene in the storyboard. The test app runs fine in iOS 26 simulators.When I try to run it in the iOS 18.5 simulator for iPhone Pro or iPad (16), it fails while unarchiving the storyboard (as far as I can tell) with this error message in the Xcode console: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidUnarchiveOperationException', reason: 'Could not instantiate class named TtGC5UIKit17UICoreHostingViewVCS_21ToolbarVisualProvider8RootView because no class named TtGC5UIKit17UICoreHostingViewVCS_21ToolbarVisualProvider8RootView was found; the class needs to be defined in source code or linked in from a library (ensure the class is part of the correct target)' terminating due to uncaught exception of type NSException CoreSimulator 1043 - Device: iPad (A16) (3E70E25F-8434-4541-960D-1B58EB4037F3) - Runtime: iOS 18.5 (22F77) - DeviceType: iPad (A16) I'd love a simple workaround for this.

iOS App Store Tester Facing Network Timeouts since iOS 26?
Our iOS/iPad app is built with React Native. We use Axios as our HTTP client. Our app has been out on the app store for 2+ years and we've never had issues with reviews. Since iOS 26 came out, our app has been constantly getting rejected because the Apple tester keeps facing network timeout issues when our app makes requests to our API services. Our API stack is already configured to support IPv6 networks, and our regular user base does not run into the issues the Apple tester is seeing. None of our developers nor our internal testers have been able to reproduce the issue the Apple tester is facing. We've tried a number of things to debug the potential issue: Added a ping check on app startup. We used the native fetch present in React Native apps as well as our Axios client (with the default XHR/HTTP adapter). None of the pings make it to our API services. Added higher timeouts on app startup to let the Apple tester have more time to reach our services while their simulator device is able to connect. We've read that the environment that Apple testers use can sometimes take longer to establish an initial connection, even though packages like NetInfo from React Native report that they are connected to WiFi as soon as the app starts. Switched our Axios client adapter to use the native fetch. We did this since we noticed that Mixpanel, our tracking library, uses the native fetch in their React Native SDK and we've confirmed that requests on their end do make it through when the Apple tester is testing our app. We're running out of ideas since the issue is pretty obscure and we haven't been able to reproduce it yet, not even by following the Apple guide to set up a local IPv6 NAT64 network to be as close to their environment as possible. We've also tried testing the app while connected to VPNs from different locations to no avail. Like I said before, we noticed that this issues started for the Apple tester with the release of iOS 26, so we're wondering if there are known issues in the community that might relate to what we're experiencing. The most recent finding we've made is that some other developers report new issues with HTTP 3/QUIC on iOS. We've seen recommendations about turning off explicit support for HTTP 3 on our services, which seems to have helped other developers.

UISegmentedControl Not Switching Segments on iOS Beta 26
While testing my application on iOS beta 26, I am experiencing issues with the native UISegmentedControl component from UIKit. After implementing the control, I noticed that I am unable to switch to the second segment option—the selection remains fixed on the first segment regardless of user interaction. I have already reviewed the initial configuration of the control, the addition of the segments, and the implementation of the target-action, but the issue persists. I would like to understand what could be causing this behavior and if there are any specific adjustments or workarounds for iOS 26. I created a minimal application containing only a UISegmentedControl to clearly demonstrate the issue.

PingFang.ttc font file is missing in iOS 18.0
I'm an iOS developer, and I've been testing our app in iOS 18.0 Beta. I noticed that there's a problem with the font rendering, and after troubleshooting, I've found out that it's caused by the removal of the PingFang.ttc font in 18.0. I would like to ask the reason for removing this font file and which font should be used to display Chinese in the future? My test device is an iPhone 11 Pro and the system version is iOS 18.0 (22A5297). I have also tested Beta 1 and it has the same issue. In previous versions of the system, the PingFang font is located in this directory /System/Library/Fonts/LanguageSupport/PingFang.ttc. But in iOS 18.0, the font file in this directory has become Kohinoor.ttc, and I've tested that this font can't display Chinese either. I traversed the following system font directories and could not find the PingFang.ttc font file. /System/Library/Fonts/AppFonts /System/Library/Fonts/Core /System/Library/Fonts/CoreAddition /System/Library/Fonts/CoreUI /System/Library/Fonts/LanguageSupport /System/Library/Fonts/UnicodeSupport /System/Library/Fonts/Watch Looking for answers, thanks for the help!

iOS 26 didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken is not being called
We have an app in Swift that uses push notifications. It has a deployment target of iOS 15.0 I originally audited our app for iOS 26 by building it with Xcode 26 beta 3. At that point, all was well. Our implementation of application:didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken was called. But when rebuilding the app with beta 4, 5 and now 6, that function is no longer being called. I created a simple test case by creating a default iOS app project, then performing these additional steps: Set bundle ID to our app's ID Add the Push Notifications capability Add in application:didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken: with a print("HERE") just to set a breakpoint. Added the following code inside application:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions: along with setting a breakpoint on the registerForRemoteNotifications line: UNUserNotificationCenter.current().requestAuthorization(options: [.badge, .alert, .sound]) { granted, _ in DispatchQueue.main.async { UIApplication.shared.registerForRemoteNotifications() } } Building and running with Xcode 26 beta 6 (17A5305f) generates these two different outcomes based upon the OS running in the Simulator: iPhone 16 Pro simulator running iOS 18.4 - both breakpoints are reached iPhone 16 Pro simulator running iOS 26 - only the breakpoint on UIApplication.shared.registerForRemoteNotifications is reached. Assuming this is a bug in iOS 26. Or, is there something additional we now need to do to get push notifications working?

Environment iOS 26 (23A343) Xcode 26 Reproduces on device and Simulator Description When presenting a SwiftUI WebView (native iOS 26 component) or a WKWebView/UIWebView via UIViewRepresentable, focusing a text field inside the web view and then dismissing it breaks the keyboard layout behavior. After returning to the main app, tapping any TextField causes the keyboard to cover bottom controls (e.g. buttons). Expected safe area insets are not applied. The issue is only resolved after closing and reopening the keyboard once. Steps to Reproduce Open a SwiftUI screen with WebView (via .sheet or NavigationLink). Inside the web view, tap a text field to show the keyboard. Dismiss the web view. Tap a TextField in the main app. Expected Result Layout should adjust correctly. Unwanted Communication Reporting extension crash
I'm trying to implement Unwanted SMS and Calls reporting in an app I'm doing in my idle time. If I place a UITextField or UITextView inside a ILClassificationUIExtensionViewController, every time I select on such control the extension crashes without any logs. The closet idea I have on why it crashes it has something to do with iOS requesting the dictation feature. I'm using the latest (beta 8 at the time) iOS 16.0 beta on my iPhone 13 pro. Does "Locked and hidden apps" feature of iOS 18 support deep link?
Our app includes showing external web service with WebView or Safari and returning to the app with custom URL scheme or universal link. When we set "Hide and Require Face ID" feature which was available on iOS 18, neither custom URL scheme nor universal link activated the app. If we only set "Require Face ID", the deep link worked properly. macOS 26.0 Tahoe + Xcode 26.0.1 Simulator causes system-wide audio distortion
After upgrading to macOS 26.0 Tahoe and Xcode 26.0.1, I’ve noticed an issue with audio playback whenever the iOS Simulator is running. Device: MacBook Pro 13" (2020, Intel, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD) Issue: Any sound played on the Mac (system sounds, music, videos) begins to break/distort once the Simulator is active. App Sounds: If the app running inside the Simulator plays audio, that audio also breaks/distorts. Previous Version: This issue did not occur on macOS Sequoia 15 or with Xcode 16. Everything was working fine before the upgrade.

IOS Safari support for WebTransport
We're developing a service that requires webtransport support in the browser. Currently, the only browser that doesn't provide support is the IOS version of Safari. Our current way forward for client use is to flag iphone and ipad as non compliant and recommend either desktop use or android. Is there any ballpark date as to when WebTransport will be included in IOS Safari (- webkit supports webtransport)?

Errors with PerfPowerTelemetryClientRegistrationService and PPSClientDonation when running iOS application in Xcode
I've suddenly started seeing hundreds of the same block of four error messages (see attached image) when running my app on my iOS device through Xcode. I've tried Cleaning the Build folder, but I keep seeing these messages in the console but can't find anything about them. Phone is running iOS 26.1. Xcode is at 16.4. Mac is on Sequoia 15.5. The app is primarily a MapKit SwiftUI based application. Will UVC native support come for the Iphone as well? So, using external cameras with the ipad is greatly beneficial, but for the iphone, it can make it a production powerhouse! So, have there been discussions around bringing UVC support for the Iphone as well? and if so, what were your conclusions?

WKWebView crash on iOS 26 Beta with -webkit-user-select: none
On iOS 26 Beta, WKWebView consistently crashes when interacting with pages that use -webkit-user-select: none. This issue does not reproduce in Safari, but only when the same content is loaded inside a WKWebView. Steps to Reproduce: Install iOS 26 Beta. Open a WKWebView that loads a webpage with the following style applied globally: -webkit-user-select: none; Perform the following gesture sequence inside the WKWebView: Double tap anywhere in the web content. Insight into BaseBoard/FrontBoardServices Crashes Needed
We're seeing a sharp uptick in BaseBoard/FrontBoardServices crashes since we migrated from UIApplicationDelegate to UIWindowSceneDelegate. Having exhausted everything on my end short of reverse engineering BaseBoard or making changes without being able to know if they work, I need help. I think all I need to get unstuck is an answer to these questions, if possible: What does -[BSSettings initWithSettings:] enumerate over? If I know what's being enumerated, I'll know what to look for in our app. What triggers FrontBoardServices to do this update? If I can reproduce the crash--or at least better understand when it may happen--I will be better able to fix it Here's two similar stack traces: App_(iOS)-crashreport-07-30-2025_1040-0600-redacted.crash App_(iOS)-crashreport-07-30-2025_1045-0600-redacted.crash Since these are private trameworks, there is no documentation or information on their behavior that I can find. There are other forum posts regarding this crash, on here and on other sites. However, I did not find any that shed any insight on the cause or conditions of the crash. Additionally, this is on iPhone, not macOS, and not iPad. This post is different, because I'm asking specific questions that can be answered by someone with familiarity on how these internal frameworks work. I'm not asking for help debugging my application, though I'd gladly take any suggestions/tips! Here's the long version, in case anyone finds it useful: In our application, we have seen a sharp rise in crashes in BaseBoard and FrontBoardServices, which are internal iOS frameworks, since we migrated our app to use UIWindowSceneDelegate. We were using exclusively UIApplicationDelegate before. The stack traces haven't proven very useful yet, because we haven't been able to reproduce the crashes ourselves. Upon searching online, we have learned that Baseboard/Frontsoardservices are probably copying scene settings upon something in the scene changing. Based on our crash reports, we know that most of our users are on an iPhone, not an iPad or macOS, so we can rule out split screen or window resizing. Our app is locked to portrait as well, so we can also rule out orientation changes. And considering the stack trace is in the middle of an objc_retain_x2 call, which is itself inside of a collection enumeration, we are assuming that whatever is being enumerated probably was changed or deallocated during enumeration. Sometimes it's objc_retain_x2, and sometimes it's a release call. And sometimes it's a completely different stack trace, but still within BaseBoard/FrontBoardServices. I suspect these all share the same cause. Because it's thread 0 that crashed, we know that BaseBoard/FrontBoardServices were running on the main thread, which means that for this crash to occur, something might be changing on a background thread. This is what leads me to suspect a race condition. There are many places in our app where we accidentally update the UI from a background thread. We've fixed many of them, but I'm sure there are more. Our app is large. Because of this, I think background UI are the most likely cause. However, since I can't reproduce the crash, and because none of our stack traces clearly show UI updates happening on another thread at the same time, I am not certain. SwiftUI iOS 26 .safeAreaBar issue with large navigation title
I have some really straight forward code in a sample project. For some reason when the app launches the title is blurred obscured by scrolledgeeffect blur. If I scroll down the title goes small as it should do and all looks fine. If I scroll back to the top, just before it reaches the top the title goes large and it looks correct, but once it actually reaches/snaps to the top, is then incorrectly blurs again. Is there anything obvious I'm doing wrong? iOS 26 navigationTransition .zoom issue
When I dismiss a view presented with .navigationTransition(.zoom), the source view gets a weird background (black or white depending on the appearance) for a couple of seconds, and then it disappears. Request: Restore Launchpad Functionality or Allow Customizable App Organization in macOS Tahoe
With macOS Tahoe, Launchpad has been replaced by an App Library–style mode within Spotlight. While the alleged intention is UX consistency across the Apple ecosystem, the result is both a catastrophic usability regression and a radical break in consistency with iOS and iPadOS. Predefined App Library categorization is functionally incoherent: On iOS and now macOS, Apple’s predefined App Library categories place apps with seemingly identical functionality into unrelated groups—for example, 3D scanning tools scattered across Education, Utilities, and Productivity. Instead of making apps easier to find, this effectively creates a labyrinth that users must traverse to locate apps whose names and icons they may not recall. However Apple defines its app categories, they are not only inconsistent but also hopelessly inadequate for the long tail of real-world applications and user workflows. Loss of user control: Launchpad enabled users to group and organize applications according to their workflows. This aligns with Apple’s own Human Interface Guidelines, which emphasize user control, discoverability, and predictable behavior. The new Spotlight interface removes that flexibility, locking users into predefined categories that both impede and mislead—and cannot be overridden. Consistency across platforms is broken: If the goal was to unify iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, this approach actually undermines consistency. On iOS and iPadOS, users can still rely on a customizable Home Screen—a Launchpad-like experience—as their primary way of launching apps. In Tahoe, that option has been removed. macOS now forces users to depend exclusively on Spotlight with App Library categories, while eliminating the very feature that was consistent across platforms. Catastrophic impact on my workflow: As an interdisciplinary artist working in 2D, 3D, and time-based media, as well as coding, I make extensive use of a constantly changing array of AI tools and experiment with many new apps and web services, which I often turn into Web Apps. I cannot possibly recall the names of every native and web app on my system. I need predictable access to groups of related tools. Tahoe’s new auto-categories split those apps apart arbitrarily, slowing me down and interrupting established workflows, forcing me to navigate the aforementioned labyrinth just to find what I need. Proposal: A constructive way forward High-level objective: Simply restore Launchpad—or restore the ability to customize app categories/folders and manually assign apps to them, overriding or augmenting the predefined categories. This ensures users can launch apps according to their workflow, without needing to remember exact names or icons. Possible solutions: Allow manual subfolders within Applications, represented hierarchically in Spotlight. Provide a fullscreen Launchpad-like organizer (with uninstall via long-click, etc.), either as a replacement or toggleable option. Retain Apple’s auto-categories for those who prefer them, but let users override or augment them with their own. In summary: Tahoe eliminates a working, consistent paradigm (Launchpad/Home Screen) and forces reliance on an App Library system that categorizes poorly and cannot be customized. This is both a step backwards in functionality and a break in cross-platform consistency. A constructive solution is to restore Launchpad—or at least restore the ability for users to organize apps in ways that fit their workflows.

The Liquid glass blur effect does not show over the UITabBar as content scrolls underneath.
In iOS26, when using a standalone UITabBar without UITabBarController, the liquid glass blur effect is not applied when scrollable content moves behind the tab bar. However, the blur effect appears correctly when using UITabBarController. The relationship between age verification and permission kit isn't clear (IMO)
I'm trying to digest and understand the new set of APIs relating age verification that were released last week. I have say that without some cohesive overview, example app, just a simple diagram showing the relationship of everything, its not at all clear to me what's going on nor what an app developer is expected to do to use these apis (I'm a senior engineer with 15 year's iOS experience, but hey maybe I'm just a bit slow in the head). I have a few questions, but the topic of this post is what is the relationship between age verification i.e. between the declared age range/significant change and Permission Kit? The documentation for the former mentions the Significant Change API/Topic (https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=2ezb6jhj / https://developer.apple.com/documentation/PermissionKit/SignificantAppUpdateTopic). Now the Significant Change Topic is documented as being part of PermissionKit, however the documentation for that (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/permissionkit) States emphatically at the top: "Communication experiences using the PermissionKit framework are only available using iMessage." Meaning you can't use PermissionKit for anything other than iMessage? If it doesn't mean that, then why does it state so? If it does mean that, then how does an app which has nothing to do with iMessage make use of Significant Change - because this documentation:https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=2ezb6jhj Is talking about using significant change for all apps, not iMessage. So there is a contradiction here.

Bluetooth connection unexpectedly timing out with macOS Sequoia
After the macOS Sequoia update, my app seems to have an issue with Bluetooth communication between macOS and iOS that uses CoreBluetooth for Central-Peripheral communication. Setup: The iPhone (in my case: iPhone 14 Pro with iOS 18.0 (22A3354)) acts as the Central, and the Mac (in my case: 14" MacBook Pro 2023 with macOS 15.0 (24A335)) as the Peripheral. I’ve implemented a mechanism where the Central (iPhone) sends a message to the Peripheral (Mac) every 15 seconds to keep the connection alive (Because it needs to wait for notify characteristic updates). I never noticed this kind of issue before, but with macOS Sequoia I get it permanently. Issue: The connection drops unexpectedly after a period of time (sometimes 20 seconds, sometimes a few minutes) with CBErrorDomain - code 6: The connection has timed out unexpectedly. Sample Code: Peripheral (Mac): ContentView (Peripheral).txt ContentViewModel (Peripheral).txt Central (iPhone): ContentView (Central).txt ContentViewModel (Central).txt Reproduce: I attached sample code including the Central-Sample (for iPhone) and Peripheral-Sample (for Mac). Just run the Peripheral-Sample (after granting Bluetooth permissions). Then run the Central-Sample and select the Mac device in the list After selecting it should connect, discover the service & characteristic and should start writing messages to it. After some time the func centralManager(_ central: CBCentralManager, didDisconnectPeripheral peripheral: CBPeripheral, error: (any Error)?) {should get called with timed out unexpectedly error. Could anyone please look into this issue and advise on whether there’s a known bug or any workaround? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated, as this impacts the stability of Bluetooth communication between the devices. Thanks in advance. Exception unarchiving UIToolbar in iOS 18.5 simulator with Xcode 26 beta 2
I'm running into a persistent problem with the iOS 18.5 simulator in Xcode 26 beta 2. I have built a very simple test app with a storyboard that includes only a toolbar added to the ViewController scene in the storyboard. The test app runs fine in iOS 26 simulators.When I try to run it in the iOS 18.5 simulator for iPhone Pro or iPad (16), it fails while unarchiving the storyboard (as far as I can tell) with this error message in the Xcode console: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidUnarchiveOperationException', reason: 'Could not instantiate class named TtGC5UIKit17UICoreHostingViewVCS_21ToolbarVisualProvider8RootView because no class named TtGC5UIKit17UICoreHostingViewVCS_21ToolbarVisualProvider8RootView was found; the class needs to be defined in source code or linked in from a library (ensure the class is part of the correct target)' terminating due to uncaught exception of type NSException CoreSimulator 1043 - Device: iPad (A16) (3E70E25F-8434-4541-960D-1B58EB4037F3) - Runtime: iOS 18.5 (22F77) - DeviceType: iPad (A16) I'd love a simple workaround for this.

iOS App Store Tester Facing Network Timeouts since iOS 26?
Our iOS/iPad app is built with React Native. We use Axios as our HTTP client. Our app has been out on the app store for 2+ years and we've never had issues with reviews. Since iOS 26 came out, our app has been constantly getting rejected because the Apple tester keeps facing network timeout issues when our app makes requests to our API services. Our API stack is already configured to support IPv6 networks, and our regular user base does not run into the issues the Apple tester is seeing. None of our developers nor our internal testers have been able to reproduce the issue the Apple tester is facing. We've tried a number of things to debug the potential issue: Added a ping check on app startup. We used the native fetch present in React Native apps as well as our Axios client (with the default XHR/HTTP adapter). None of the pings make it to our API services. Added higher timeouts on app startup to let the Apple tester have more time to reach our services while their simulator device is able to connect. We've read that the environment that Apple testers use can sometimes take longer to establish an initial connection, even though packages like NetInfo from React Native report that they are connected to WiFi as soon as the app starts. Switched our Axios client adapter to use the native fetch. We did this since we noticed that Mixpanel, our tracking library, uses the native fetch in their React Native SDK and we've confirmed that requests on their end do make it through when the Apple tester is testing our app. We're running out of ideas since the issue is pretty obscure and we haven't been able to reproduce it yet, not even by following the Apple guide to set up a local IPv6 NAT64 network to be as close to their environment as possible. We've also tried testing the app while connected to VPNs from different locations to no avail. Like I said before, we noticed that this issues started for the Apple tester with the release of iOS 26, so we're wondering if there are known issues in the community that might relate to what we're experiencing. The most recent finding we've made is that some other developers report new issues with HTTP 3/QUIC on iOS. We've seen recommendations about turning off explicit support for HTTP 3 on our services, which seems to have helped other developers.

UISegmentedControl Not Switching Segments on iOS Beta 26
While testing my application on iOS beta 26, I am experiencing issues with the native UISegmentedControl component from UIKit. After implementing the control, I noticed that I am unable to switch to the second segment option—the selection remains fixed on the first segment regardless of user interaction. I have already reviewed the initial configuration of the control, the addition of the segments, and the implementation of the target-action, but the issue persists. I would like to understand what could be causing this behavior and if there are any specific adjustments or workarounds for iOS 26. I created a minimal application containing only a UISegmentedControl to clearly demonstrate the issue.

PingFang.ttc font file is missing in iOS 18.0
I'm an iOS developer, and I've been testing our app in iOS 18.0 Beta. I noticed that there's a problem with the font rendering, and after troubleshooting, I've found out that it's caused by the removal of the PingFang.ttc font in 18.0. I would like to ask the reason for removing this font file and which font should be used to display Chinese in the future? My test device is an iPhone 11 Pro and the system version is iOS 18.0 (22A5297). I have also tested Beta 1 and it has the same issue. In previous versions of the system, the PingFang font is located in this directory /System/Library/Fonts/LanguageSupport/PingFang.ttc. But in iOS 18.0, the font file in this directory has become Kohinoor.ttc, and I've tested that this font can't display Chinese either. I traversed the following system font directories and could not find the PingFang.ttc font file. /System/Library/Fonts/AppFonts /System/Library/Fonts/Core /System/Library/Fonts/CoreAddition /System/Library/Fonts/CoreUI /System/Library/Fonts/LanguageSupport /System/Library/Fonts/UnicodeSupport /System/Library/Fonts/Watch Looking for answers, thanks for the help!
