Managed configuration in iOS app and Action Extension
Hi, I have a question regarding reading the configuration of a managed app deployed via an MDM system. The application has an Action Extension and can receive shared files via this extension. The problem I am facing is that I can read the managed configuration in the host app by accessing the UserDefaults.standard.object(forKey: "com.apple.configuration.managed") dictionary. With this, I can configure the host app. However, I am unable to read this configuration key in the Action Extension part of the application. My question is whether there is any possibility to read the managed configuration even in the extension. So far, I have been unable to figure out how to read it. I found the sample code, but it was not very helpful since it is very basic and does not deal with extensions at all. Any hints are appreciated.

Local notification not working with ios app installed
I have an iOS and watchOS app where both can run independently, I am not using WatchConnectivity to send data back and fourth. The issue I'm having is that if I schedule a local notification on the watch and the phone is unlocked, it will not show on the watch for about 10-15 seconds. If I uninstall the iOS app or have the phone locked, it will show immediately on the watch. To my understanding, this is somewhat the expected functionality but is there a way to bypass it? My app is a timer app and it really should not have a delay.

In a Form's Section, how to automatically dismiss the keyboard when clicking a NavigationLink to enter a child view, and ensure the keyboard does not pop up again when returning to the main view.
The main view contains a Form with multiple Sections, including TextFields and NavigationLinks. I used an @FocusState variable to automatically pop up the keyboard when entering the main view, making it easier for users to input content directly in the TextField. However, when I keep the keyboard open and click a NavigationLink in the Section to enter a child view, I can't find a way to automatically dismiss the keyboard upon entering the child view. I've seen several official Apple apps, like Reminders, achieve this. Not dismissing the keyboard causes it to automatically pop up again when returning to the main view, along with triggering a "Unable to simultaneously satisfy constraints" error in the console. I asked GPT for help, but the suggestions, like using simultaneousGesture or adding isActive to the NavigationLink (which might be deprecated), haven't worked. Has anyone in iOS development encountered this issue?

Apple intelligence is not available in the iPhone 15 Pro brought from China.
My iPhone 15 Pro is from Hong Kong (China). I am outside of China and Asia in general. I have never been to China myself and the iPhone was activated in another country. And it is not the EU. My iPhone's language, Siri and region settings are changed to US English. Updated to iOS 18.1 RC. But Apple Intelligence doesn't show up in the Siri settings.

I am trying to build my app with Xcode16 on iOS18, once app is going background PIP is enable but whenever app is coming back to foreground by tapping on PIP, black screen appears(video is playing in background). It only happening with build created by Xcode16 and running on iOS18. It working fine with build created by Xcode15.4. My first thought on it that somehow PIP is not stoping.

Unable to run Xcode on my iPhone
I have enabled Developer mode on the iPhone and paired my device. I see it as an option on Xcode, but I am unable to run any simulations on my device. When I go into Settings->General->VPN & Device Management, I only see an option for VPN, not for my Mac. What do I need to do to be able to run my app on my iPhone? Thank you

Retrieve Dark Mode and Tinted app icons
Hello, Is there a way to retrieve the dark mode and the tinted app icons using personal iOS device, or alternatively through an available API? I wasn't able to find anything online or on the existing form posts. I tried using: xcrun devicectl device info appIcon But this command only returns a light mode icon for an app and I didn't see any options/flags for dark mode or tinted icons Software Version info: XCode - 16 MacOS 15.1 Beta (24B5070a) devicectl - 397.21 xcrun - version 70, platform version 15.0 Let me know if any other info would be helpful. Thanks!

Triggering keyboard/mouse events anytime iOS
I frequently use my iPad to develop remotely in VSCode or prototype designs in Figma. This is currently all done in the browser. Given that many of these experiences rely heavily on the keyboard I was hoping there would be a solution to make a keyboard persistent on the screen, or at least a few hot keys. Is it possible for me to develop an accessibility tool that could stay persistent on the screen? Perhaps something that would talk with assistive touch? Or is that in Apple’s no no square?

xcodebuild is very slow unless you set CODE_SIGNING_ALLOWED=NO"
Incremental builds using xcodebuild are very slow, around 3x slower when compared to the same build using Xcode. Recently, I discovered that CODE_SIGNING_ALLOWED=NO" fixed the issue, but of course, I can't then run iOS app. It seems like automatic signing using xcodebuild is somehow broken. Therefore, I think I could set CODE_SIGNING_ALLOWED=NO" and sign it manually later. However, I'm not sure how to do that. I checked what Xcode does and it's: /usr/bin/codesign --force --sign - --entitlements /Users/wkulik/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/XYZ-hblnhsksxjrctzekqmlevcflnsji/Build/Intermediates.noindex/XYZ.build/Debug-iphonesimulator/XYZ.build/XYZ.app.xcent --timestamp\=none --generate-entitlement-der /Users/wkulik/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/XYZ-hblnhsksxjrctzekqmlevcflnsji/Build/Products/Debug-iphonesimulator/XYZ.app However, if I run xcodebuild with disabled signing I don't have XYZ.app.xcent required by this command. I also tried: codesign --force --deep --sign "Apple Development: John Snow (XYZ)" /Users/wkulik/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/XYZ-hblnhsksxjrctzekqmlevcflnsji/Build/Products/Debug-iphonesimulator/XYZ.app but the app immediately terminates (the same way like when unsigned). Could anyone help with that?

I have a website that uses tables for listing our certifications. A customer is complaining that on their browser, the contents of the tables are being viewed upside down. They should be showing vertically. This is not happening on any other browser that I have tested. Has anyone had this issue and what did you do to fix it. https://www.mccampbell.com/statement.php Thank you for your help. Much appreciated. Lynda

iOS app that can support multiple hardware devices simultaneously
Hello, I am planning to create an app that can transfer files to hardware devices via WiFi. With devices like GoPro, I believe the typical setup involves the GoPro creating a WiFi hotspot to which the iOS app connects, allowing file transfers. But this setup establishes a 1:1 connection between the app and the hardware. To support multiple hardware devices simultaneously, I am considering reversing this setup: the iOS device would create a personal hotspot, and the hardware devices would connect to it. However, I have concerns about this approach: Reliability: I have read that the personal hotspot feature on iOS devices can be unreliable, especially with non-Apple devices, which tend to disconnect frequently. Manual Setup: There is no API to programmatically create the personal hotspot, so users would have to enable it manually in the Settings. I can use isIdleTimerDisabled to prevent the iOS screen from going to sleep, which might help with disconnection issues. Aside from this, are there other things I can do to ensure a stable connection? Given my limited experience with hardware connections, I am uncertain if having the iOS device act as the WiFi access point is a good design. Any advice or alternative solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

27/10000AI翻译 划译 The APP packaged with enterprise certificate has a flashback phenomenon under ios18 system
I found a post that submitted the same issue, but the solution was not made public. I didn't get a reply to my comment at the bottom of the post, so I'm pasting the content of the post here. I am a developer working on iOS apps. I would like to report an issue occurring in iOS 18 beta and iOS 18.1 beta. Our company has two Enterprise accounts, and we are developing two apps: A app / TeamId: ABCDEFG B app / TeamId: HIJKLMN When we distribute these apps, which have different TeamIds, and install them on a device running iOS 18 beta, both apps install successfully, but only one app will run. (Other app crashed immediately after being launched.) This issue does not occur on versions prior to iOS 18. I would like to know if this is a problem that will be resolved in future updates, or if it is a policy change.

"failed to processImage" in videoProcessor
Hello, I’m working on a program that analyzes video files frame by frame to detect human poses in each frame. However, during the process of reading observations from the stream, the analysis frequently stops with the following error: [LOG_ERROR] /Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/MediaAnalysis/VideoProcessing/VCPHumanPoseImageRequest.mm[85]: code -18 [LOG_ERROR] /Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/MediaAnalysis/VideoProcessing/VCPHumanPoseImageRequest.mm[178]: code -18 The error was caught and printed using a do-catch block, and here is the output: Error Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=-18 "Error: failed to processImage" UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Error: failed to processImage} While the do-catch block helps prevent the app from crashing, the frames following the error cannot be analyzed. I’m hoping to understand the cause of this error, or find a way to skip the problematic frames and continue analyzing the subsequent ones. My development environment is Xcode Version 16.0 (16A242d) and iOS 18.0. Thank you for your help. (Attaching my code below.) let videoProcessor = VideoProcessor(videoURL) let bodyPoseRequest = DetectHumanBodyPoseRequest() let asset = AVURLAsset(url: videoURL) let videoTrack = try await asset.loadTracks(withMediaType: .video).first let bodyPoseStream = try await videoProcessor.addRequest(bodyPoseRequest) videoProcessor.startAnalysis() do { for try await observations in bodyPoseStream { guard let observation = observations.first else { continue } if let timeRange = observation.timeRange { /// do something... } } } catch { print("\(error.localizedDescription)") }

Why is there a 1 second delay when sending or receiving from a socket?
I am creating a VoIP application. The VoIP application needs to send and receive RTP packets at 20 ms intervals. The application calls sendto() of the Socket API at 20 ms intervals, but the iPhone buffers the send data inside iOS and then sends RTP packets in batches at 1 second intervals. (I captured the sned packets of iPhone with rvctl and confirmed this. please reffer "Sending at 1 second intervals.png" for detail) Similarly, other devices send RTP packets to the iPhone at 20 millisecond intervals, but the iPhone only receives them at 1 second intervals. (please reffer "Receiving at 1 second intervals.png" for detail) Why is this? If the cause of the delay is in the Wi-Fi protocol and the cause can be found from sysdiagnose, please tell me the search key for sysdiagnose that shows the cause of the delay and the meaning of the corresponding log. I uploaded sysdiagnose and result of lan capture to below. [sysdiagnose and lan capture] https://drive.google.com/file/d/149OPmePAF4hnZj6NeSnKc5NizfitPQDS/view?usp=sharing And, the start and end times, packet number in the lan capture of the call shown in the png example are below Start time; 13:57:22.349608/packet number; 948 End time; 13:57:37.482874/packet number; 2583

Remove the macOS app from the App Store while keeping the iOS app available.
Hi, I have an app available on both iOS and macOS platforms, and we would like to remove the macOS version from sale while keeping the iOS version active. I looked into App Store Connect for an option to remove just one platform, but it doesn't seem to be available. The "Pricing and Availability" section also applies universally to all platforms, not platform-specific. What would be the best approach to achieve this? I would appreciate any suggestions. Best regards, Apparao Mulpuri

Build options in Xcode
I have a few questions on build options. Deployment post processing - is this for Mac apps? Or is it a setting for Xcode ? Does "Symbols hidden by default" set to yes enable symbolicated crash dumps? Can "Product name" and "Product module name" be different from bundleID component? Generate_Info_Plist is set to no. Will the Application Category value be reflected if there is no Info_plist file generated? I notice in my tests that the category is always wrong and defaults to team name. Privacy - GameKit Friend List Usage Description should this be yes or no if I am using Apple suggested privacy preserving scoped identifier gamePlayerID? Install Group/Permissions/Owner are these referring to setting in Dev environment or are these Mac App Only settings? ( I was not sure if iOS like Unix, has system users exposed at this high level anyway ) How do I export copy of existing build settings to a xconfig file? There was talk of a tool not sure if it is still available. For my TestFlight build for stress testing , what options would you recommend to help debug and trace easily ? Note I have tested the build with various Address Sanitizer, Memory Sanitizer, Guard malloc etc. options enabled to prep but haven't turned any of those on for the test build. Should I be enabling some? ( Some do not work together ) Alternately, if there is a document or video that addresses all of the above please let me know! Thanks in advance!!

SwiftUI Bug: Clear Navigation Stack when changing to any Tab
Hi, I have a project that uses SwiftUI, where we have a TabView, and in one of the tabs, I have a NavigationStack(path:). And created a logic to clear the NavigationStack path everytime you change to another Tab. But found a bug, that if for some reason when doing a navigation in the NavigationStack, and rapidly tapping to another Tab, the NavigationStack doesn't gets clean up, or even if you have for some reason something allocated in the view you were navigation, doesn't get deinit if you have the logic for deinit a object when dismissing the view. The environment I have is: iPhone 12 Pro Max with iOS 17.6.1 This is the code that I have: struct TabBarView: View { @ObservedObject var tabBarVC = TabBarViewController() var body: some View { TabView(selection: $tabBarVC.selectedTab) { Text("HomeView") .tabItem { Label("Home", systemImage: "house") } .tag(TabBarViewController.Tab.home) SettingsView(settingsVC: tabBarVC.settingsVC) .tabItem { Label("Settings", systemImage: "gear") } .tag(TabBarViewController.Tab.settings) } .onChange(of: tabBarVC.selectedTab) { oldValue, newValue in tabBarVC.settingsVC.clearNavigationPath() } } } class TabBarViewController: ObservableObject { enum Tab { case home case settings } @Published var selectedTab: Tab = .home @Published var settingsVC: SettingsViewController = .init() } class SettingsViewController: ObservableObject { enum Destination { case viewOne case viewTwo case viewThree } @Published var navigationPath: NavigationPath = .init() func navigateTo(destination: Destination) { self.navigationPath.append(destination) } func clearNavigationPath() { self.navigationPath = .init() } } The expected I am looking for is that everytime you change your tab, it cleans up the navigation stack, even if you change the tab when there is a navigation animation in process.
