App Sandbox & Missing Symbols for Nested PyInstaller App Bundle
Hi Developers, I'm encountering persistent validation errors in Xcode 16.3 (16E140) on macOS 15.4.1 (24E263) with M1 when archiving and distributing a macOS app (Developer ID signing + notarization). App Structure: A native Swift/Obj-C wrapper app that launches a nested .app inside its Resources. The nested app is built with PyInstaller and includes: A Python core Custom C++ binaries Many bundled .so libraries (e.g., from OpenCV, PyQt/PySide) Issues During Validation: App Sandbox Not Enabled Error: App Sandbox missing for NestedApp.app/Contents/MacOS/NestedExecutable. Question: For Developer ID (not App Store), is sandboxing strictly required for nested PyInstaller apps? If the wrapper is sandboxed, must the nested app be as well? Given the PyInstaller app's nature (requiring broad system access), how should entitlements be managed? Upload Symbols Failed Errors for missing .dSYM files for: The nested app’s executable Custom C++ binaries .so files (OpenCV, PyQt, etc.) These are either third-party or built without DWARF data, making .dSYM generation impractical post-build. Question: Are these symbol errors critical for Developer ID notarization (not App Store)? Can notarization succeed despite them? Is lack of symbol upload a known limitation with PyInstaller apps? Any best practices?

App update "Waiting for review" for a week
Hi! We have a critical in-app launch coming soon and already missed one due to longer than expected review process. I even requested an expedited review last Saturday, but it's still "Waiting for review". We also have a patch version waiting that we would send to review right after the current one is approved. Or should we reject the current submission and submit the patched version (and request expedited review) or would that just drop us back to the end of the line? Help appreciated, thank you. 🙏

App Review Delay – 6 Days Without Feedback, Urgent Launch Approaching
Hello Apple Developer Support, Please we are writing to respectfully seek your assistance regarding the current status of our app submission. As of today, it has been six (6) full days since we received the last correspondence through our Apple Developer account. In that last message, we were informed that our app and the information we submitted had been successfully acknowledged, and we were kindly asked to allow additional time for the review process. While we absolutely understand and respect the importance of a thorough app review — especially for ensuring compliance, security, and overall app quality on the App Store — the extended delay without further updates has become a serious concern for us, and we are reaching out in hopes of getting some clarification or an approval update. Our situation is quite time-sensitive. We have been preparing for our app launch for a long time, and we have communicated a specific release date to our users and clients. Unfortunately, with no update from the review team and our planned launch date fast approaching, we are now in a position where we might miss this window. This could lead to broken promises to our users and potentially damage the trust we’ve worked hard to build with them. We are not trying to rush or pressure the team — we deeply respect the process and the work that goes into it. Rather, we are simply trying to understand where things currently stand so we can better manage expectations on our side, and possibly make informed decisions if any contingency plans are needed. We have reviewed all communications thoroughly and have ensured that no additional information was requested from our side. If there is any action needed on our end, we would be more than happy to respond immediately and provide anything that could assist in moving the review process forward. We sincerely hope this message can help prompt a follow-up or at least help us understand what the next steps might be. If there is a known backlog or expected delay duration, even having that context would go a long way in helping us communicate transparently with our users and stakeholders. We’re excited to bring our app to the App Store and share the hard work we’ve put into its development with the iOS community. We appreciate your time, support, and the dedication the App Review team gives to making the App Store a safe and high-quality environment for all users. Thank you in advance for your help.

Does scheduling a price change of a subscription while keeping the original price for existing subscribers trigger messaging to those users?
We're planning on increasing the price of our ios in-app subscription. We will select the option "Keep the current price for existing subscribers" Reading this https://developer.apple.com/help/app-store-connect/manage-subscriptions/manage-pricing-for-auto-renewable-subscriptions/, it's not clear if existing subscribers will be notified of the change in pricing (even though that change won't impact them) or not?

App Store upload fails when app supports only landscape orientation (React Native iOS)
Hi everyone, I'm working on an iOS app developed with React Native (version 0.69.4), and I'm running into an issue when trying to upload the archive to App Store Connect. My app is designed to work only in landscape orientation, so in Xcode I’ve set the supported interface orientations accordingly—only landscape left and landscape right are checked, and portrait options are unchecked. However, when I try to upload the build to App Store Connect, I receive an error indicating that the app must support the portrait orientation on iPhone. The upload process is being blocked due to this setting. For the functionality and layout of the app, supporting portrait mode is not ideal. Is there any recommended way to configure an app so that it can still be uploaded successfully while supporting only landscape orientation on iPhones? Any advice or workarounds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

iOS iPhone app for me and wife only
Hi, I've developed an app that's only useful for me and my wife. I can get it on my phone albeit temporarily. I'm considering subscribing so I can keep the app on my phone, and share with my wife. However I don't want the app to be for public consumption. I found "Unlisted app distribution" notes but want to check that would be accessible under the $99/year option, and that its not part of a business like sub? This is all under the assumption there is no other way to get the app on our phones.

Mac App Store purchase confirmation dialog; Purchase button is missing
Since some time now, when users try to buy my App on the Mac App Store or want to start the trial, the system dialog to confirm the purchase is not working correctly. The dialog is sticking to the upper border of the screen behind the menubar and can‘t be moved. And - this is the real problem - users can not confirm the purchase, because the button (or Touch ID field) is not shown. Only the cancel button is there and clickable. Usually (where the arrow points) there is the Touch ID symbol, the password field or purchase button. Any ideas?

NO_CRASH_STACK with different number of crashes from the App Store.
Hello. For the last few months I have been facing a situation for which I do not understand either the reason or the solution. Here is an example for the last few weeks: In App Store Connect it shows 214 crashes for the last week In Xcode it shows 56 crashes for the last 2 weeks without stack traces (NO_CRASH_STACK) In Firebase Crashlytics there is not a single crash. When I click "Show in Finder" it opens a folder with .xccrashpoint files. As far as I understood from the instructions on posting crash reports - this is not what is needed. Interesting point: it looks like the errors occur on iOS 15-16 devices. I have several questions: Why is the number of crashes in Xcode different from the number in App Store Connect? Where are the other crashes? How can I understand what the problem is if there are no stack traces in Xcode?

Install Safari Extension fails with "Unable to download App" and "Operation not permitted" in log
We have a Safari extension that's been up on the App Store for about 18 months with no apparent issues. This week, however, while working on an update, we uninstalled the production version on our test machines and installed a developer version. When we had some issues, we tried to go back to the production version downloaded from the App Store, but we get an pop saying "Unable to download App." In the log, the most obviously relevant error is 'Operation not permitted'. This occurs on several machines and different logins on those machines in both norma and safe modes. However, on another machine that never had one installed, we could still install the app from the app store, so I suspect there is something left behind that needs to be removed, but I don't know what. FWIW, I see the download directory getting created under /Applications, but it is promptly removed when the failure popup appears. Any suggestions?

Associating App Clips to Apple Map Location
Question: Does anyone have experience or documentation on how to get an App Clip to show on Apple Maps for a location? What I've tried: I have tried to associate my App Clip with an Apple Maps location. We are working with a physical restaurant that has an Apple Maps location, our full app is listed there but not the App Clip. I've gone through the steps of setting up the Advanced App Clip Experience and giving it the location we want it associated with, and have gone through Apple Business Connect and done all the setup there to get the full app to show with the location, but the app clip still does not show. I've contacted Apple Support and they gave me the criteria of "The App Clip is hosted within the app" and "The app is associated to the same physical location". When asking for clarification with the first criteria they said they could help and closed the chat.

App Stuck in “Waiting for Review” for Over a Week After Previous Rejections – Urgent Launch Deadline Approaching
Hello, We’re seeking urgent help or guidance regarding a serious issue with our app review process. We submitted our iOS app last month. It was rejected three times for various reasons, and each time we promptly resolved the issues and resubmitted. After the most recent resubmission (over a week ago), the app has been stuck in the “Waiting for Review” status. The last communication we received from Apple was: We’ve tried to follow up multiple times via email, as phone support is not available in our country. However, we’ve only received automated responses saying that the review requires additional time. No actual progress or update has been communicated since then. Our launch date is now critically close, and we're concerned that we may miss it due to the continued delay and lack of visibility into the review timeline. If anyone from the App Review team is reading this, or if any developers have been through a similar situation and can share advice, we would deeply appreciate your input. Thank you for your time and support.

Not able to update Mac App?
Hi, I've uploaded a new version of my Mac app after being rejected by Apple. I usually get a "new version section" where I pick out the version that I just uploaded. I am NOT getting that choice. Did Apple change something that I'm not aware of? Thank you, Dan Uff

Setting LSApplicationCategoryType
Is this a valid thing to include in the Info.plist file? If so is a category of public.app-category.astronomyvalid? I couldn't find that, but the categories I did find seemed very limited.
