UISplitView with "sidebar" and Liquid Glass
I have a couple of (older) UIKit-based Apps using UISplitViewController on the iPad to have a two-column layout. I'm trying to edit the App so it will shows the left column as sidebar with liquid glass effect, similar to the one in the "Settings" App of iPadOS 26. But this seems to be almost impossible to do right now. "out of the box" the UISplitViewController already shows the left column somehow like a sidebar, with some margins to the sides, but missing the glass effect and with very little contrast to the background. If the left column contains a UITableViewController, I can try to get the glass effect this way within the UITableViewController: tableView.backgroundColor = .clear tableView.backgroundView = UIVisualEffectView(effect: UIGlassContainerEffect()) It is necessary to set the backgroundColor of the table view to the clear color because otherwise the default background color would completely cover the glass effect and so it's no longer visible. It is also necessary to set the background of all UITableViewCells to clear. If the window is in the foreground, this will now look very similar to the sidebar of the Settings App. However if the window is in the back, the sidebar is now much darker than the one of the Settings App. Not that nice looking, but for now acceptable. However whenever I navigate to another view controller in the side bar, all the clear backgrounds destroy the great look, because the transition to the new child controller overlaps with the old parent controller and you see both at the same time (because of the clear backgrounds). What is the best way to solve these issues and get a sidebar looking like the one of the Settings App under all conditions?

Cannot run apps that use the callAsyncJavaScript() method on older simulators
If I use the method callAsyncJavaScript() my app will compile, but it won't run on older simulators. Specifically, in a brand new Storyboard project, I added this to `viewDidLoad(): let webView = WKWebView() webView.callAsyncJavaScript("1", in: nil, in: .page) { result in print("\(result)") } This runs fine with Xcode 16.3 targeting the iOS 18.4 simulator. It doesn't work if I target the iOS 18.3.1 simulator or the iOS 17.5 simulator. It does work on an iPhone 15 Pro running iOS 18.4 and it works on an iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 17.7.1. Swift iOS iPadOS app for Smartcard Token PIV using CryptoTokenKit
Please excuse my lack of understanding of what are probably fundamental concepts in iOS/iPadOS development but I have searched far and wide for documentation and haven't had much luck so far. I am not sure that what I want to do is even possible with an iPad iPadOS app. Goals: Develop a Swift iPadOS app that can digitally sign a file using a PIV SmartCard/Token (Personal Identity Verification Card): Insert a PIV SmartCard/Token (such as a Yubikey 5Ci) into the lightning port of an iPadOS device iPad (NOT MacOS) Interface with the SmartCard/Token to access the user's PIV certificate/signature and "use it" to sign a file Question 1: How to get the PIV Certificate from SmartCard/Token/Yubikey into iPadOS keychain?   * Do we need to get the PIV certificate into the iOS keychain? Is there another way to interact with a SmartCard directly?   * This should prompt the user for their PIN? Question 2: How to get our Swift app to hook into the event that the SmartCard/Token is inserted into the device and then interface with the user's certificate?   * When is the user prompted to enter their PIN for SmartCard/Token/Yubikey?   * Do we need to use CyrptoTokenKit to interface with a smartcard inserted into the lightning port of an iOS device?

Does UIDevice.current.identifierForVendor change after iCloud backup and restore on another iOS device?
I'm trying to understand how UIDevice.current.identifierForVendor behaves when an iOS app is restored via iCloud onto a different physical device. Context I'm building an app that needs to detect whether it’s running on a newly restored device (for example, after the user transfers their iPhone via iCloud setup). To do this, I save the value of UIDevice.current.identifierForVendor?.uuidString in persistent storage (e.g., UserDefaults). The question If I install my app on Device A, store the identifierForVendor value, back up the device to iCloud, and then restore that backup onto Device B, will the restored app see the same identifierForVendor value, or a new one? More specifically: Does iCloud backup/restore preserve the underlying “vendor” ID across devices? Is the identifierForVendor tied only to the bundle identifier and vendor prefix, or also to the physical device hardware? If the user deletes all apps from the same vendor, then restores them from iCloud, is the ID reset? What I’ve found so far Apple’s docs say: “The value of this property is the same for apps that come from the same vendor running on the same device. If the user deletes all of that vendor’s apps from the device and then reinstalls one or more of them, the value may change.” However, it doesn’t explicitly mention what happens after iCloud restore onto a new device. Goal I want to know if it’s safe to use identifierForVendor to detect a new device context (e.g., trigger a refresh of a Firebase token when the user’s device changes). Is it possible to scan for nearby WiFi networks and connect to a device in AP mode on iOS?
In our iOS application, we need to list available WiFi networks so that users can select one for device configuration. Here's the workflow: Initially, the hardware device acts as a WiFi Access Point (AP). The app should scan for nearby WiFi networks to detect the device's AP. The app connects temporarily to this AP and sends the selected WiFi credentials to the device. The device then connects to the selected WiFi network and stops broadcasting its AP. Is this flow achievable on iOS? We understand that Apple restricts access to WiFi scanning APIs — are there any supported methods (e.g., using NEHotspotHelper) or entitlements (such as MFi) that could enable this?

Migrating SwiftUI lifecycle to UIKit's
Hi, everyone I have an app already in production that uses SwiftUI's lifecycle (paired with an AppDelegate). Due to some specific behaviour of the app, we decided to migrate the app to use UIKit's lifecycle, adding the corresponding SceneDelegate to the app, as well as modifying the Info.plist file accordingly to accommodate to these new changes. Although everything seems to work when installing the app from zero, when installing it on top of another version, the screen goes black and the user cannot interact with the app at all unless they reinstall it completely. As I've read online, iOS is reusing the window configuration from the previous execution of the app. I know this because the AppDelegate's application(application:connectingSceneSession:options) is not being called when coming from a previous version of the app. I would love to know what can I do to make this work because, as you may understand, we cannot ask our user base to reinstall the application. Thank you very much.

What is the time frame on fixing this issue?
The issue of fixed elements with { bottom: 0 } moving up when scrolling still persists. It seems to be a general issue with the IOS 26 release. It affects other browser too. I tested on browsers such as Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Bravo. With the exception of Edge, all the others display the behavior. Device: iPhone 15 Pro IOS Version: 26.0.1

Clarification on UIDesignRequiresCompatibility Key and Liquid Glass Adoption
Dear Apple Developer Relations Team, We are currently reviewing the documentation for the UIDesignRequiresCompatibility Info.plist key. In the documentation, there is a warning that states: "Temporarily use this key while reviewing and refining your app’s UI for the design in the latest SDKs." However, in the adoption guide for Liquid Glass: Adopting Liquid Glass, we did not see any explicit requirement to force adoption of the Liquid Glass design. We have the Gojek app, which currently uses the UIDesignRequiresCompatibility key. To ensure long-term stability, we would like clarification on the following points: Future Support of the Key: Is it safe to continue using the UIDesignRequiresCompatibility key? Can you confirm whether this key will remain supported or if there are plans for it to be deprecated/removed in future iOS versions? Liquid Glass Adoption: Our app’s design guidelines do not align with the Liquid Glass style. Can you confirm that adoption of Liquid Glass is not mandatory, and that apps can continue to use their existing custom design guidelines without any restrictions? Compatibility with iOS 26: Are there any required changes we need to make to our existing views to ensure that the UI will continue to render as it does today on iOS 26 and beyond? We want to make sure we provide the best user experience while remaining compliant with Apple’s guidelines. Your clarification would help us plan our design and development roadmap accordingly. Thank you for your support and guidance.

iOS 26.1 beta Safari audio input is broken
I'm a web developer of WebRTC based web app for video and audio calls. After updating to iOS 26.1 beta I noticed, that my app can't use microphone anymore. When I'm calling to getUserMedia with audio set to true, Safari returns error "No AVAudioSessionCaptureDevice device". Other WebRTC demo apps also can't access microphone on this firmware. And maybe it's connected somehow, but safari can't detect connected AirPods Pro 2 as an input device. So, this bug brakes any WebRTC app, that uses microphones.

Custom Background Image Fails to Display on UIToolbar
I am encountering a critical issue where a custom background image on a UIToolbar fails to display when the app is built with Xcode 26 and run on iOS 26 beta. The exact same implementation works perfectly on iOS 18 and earlier versions. We first attempted to use the legacy setBackgroundImage method, which fails to render the image on iOS 26: // 1. Get Navigation Bar and set basic properties UINavigationBar* navBar = self.navigationBar; navBar.hidden = NO; navBar.translucent = NO; // 2. Setup the UIToolbar instance UIToolbar *toolBar = [[UIToolbar alloc] initWithFrame:navBar.bounds]; toolBar.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleHeight | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth; // 3. Set the resizable image (This image does not appear on iOS 26) UIImage* imagePortrait = [UIImage imageNamed:@"nav_bg"]; UIEdgeInsets insets = UIEdgeInsetsMake(0.f, 6.f, 0.f, 6.f); [toolBar setBackgroundImage:[imagePortrait resizableImageWithCapInsets:insets] forToolbarPosition:UIToolbarPositionAny barMetrics:UIBarMetricsDefault]; We then migrated to the recommended modern UIToolbarAppearance to solve this, but the issue persists: // 1. Prepare Image UIImage* imagePortrait = [UIImage imageNamed:@"nav_bg"]; // Insets are applied via resizableImageWithCapInsets: (not shown in this snippet but implied) // 2. Configure UIToolbarAppearance UIToolbarAppearance *appearance = [[UIToolbarAppearance alloc] init]; appearance.backgroundImage = imagePortrait; // The image is correctly loaded (not nil) // 3. Apply the Appearance toolBar.standardAppearance = appearance; // We also applied to scrollEdgeAppearance and compactAppearance. Any information or recommended workarounds for displaying a custom background image on UIToolbar in the latest iOS 26 would be highly appreciated.

ScrollView paging position is off in iOS 26
Hi everyone, I have the following issue that I have tried to tweak every possible modifier of ScrollView and still got the same result in iOS 26. Description: Create a SwiftUI ScrollView with scrollTargetBehavior of paging, also create a bottom UI view below the ScrollView. If the starting index is not 0, the position of current page will be off with part of previous page shown above it. It only happens on iOS 26, not on iOS 18. Also if bottom UI view (text view in this case) is removed, it also works fine. I want to see if there is a solution for it or it's an iOS 26 bug. Thanks! import SwiftUI struct ContentView: View { @State private var currentPageIndex: Int? = 3 var body: some View { VStack { scrollView Text("Bottom Bar") .frame(maxWidth: .infinity) .frame(height: 80) .background(.red) } .background(.black) } @ViewBuilder var scrollView: some View { VerticalPagerView( currentPageIndex: $currentPageIndex, itemCount: 10, content: Array(0...9).map { index in content(for: index) } ) } @ViewBuilder private func content(for index: Int) -> some View { // Empty view with random background color Color( red: Double((index * 25 + 0) % 255) / 255.0, green: Double((index * 25 + 80) % 255) / 255.0, blue: Double((index * 25 + 160) % 255) / 255.0 ) } } struct VerticalPagerView<Content: View>: View { @Binding private var currentPageIndex: Int? private let itemCount: Int private let content: [Content] init( currentPageIndex: Binding<Int?>, itemCount: Int, content: [Content] ) { self._currentPageIndex = currentPageIndex self.itemCount = itemCount self.content = content } var body: some View { GeometryReader { geometryReader in ScrollViewReader { reader in ScrollView(.vertical) { LazyVStack(spacing: 0) { ForEach(0 ..< itemCount, id: \.self) { index in content[index] .id(index) .containerRelativeFrame(.vertical, alignment: .center) .clipped() } } .frame(minHeight: geometryReader.size.height) .scrollTargetLayout() } .scrollIndicators(.hidden) .onAppear { guard let currentPageIndex = currentPageIndex else { return } reader.scrollTo(currentPageIndex, anchor: .center) } } .scrollPosition(id: $currentPageIndex, anchor: .center) .ignoresSafeArea() .scrollTargetBehavior(.paging) .onChange(of: currentPageIndex) { oldIndex, newIndex in } } } }

What is the recommended way to programmatically apply proxy to WKWebView
Hi Apple engineers! We are making an iOS browser and are planing to deliver a feature that allows enterprise customers to use a MAM key to set a PAC file for proxy. It's designed to support unmanaged device so the MDM based solutions like 'Global HTTP Proxy MDM payload' or 'Per-App VPN' simply don't work. After doing some research we found that with WKWebView, the only framework allowed on iOS for web browsing, there's no API for programmatically setting proxy. The closes API is the WKURLSchemeHandler, but it's for data management not network request interception, in other word it can not be used to handle HTTP/HTTPS request well. When we go from the web-view level to the app level, it seems there's no API to let an app set proxy for itself at an app-level, the closest API is Per-App VPN but as mentioned above, Per-App VPN is only available for managed device so we can't use that as well. Eventually we go to the system level, and try to use Network Extension, but there's still obstacles. It seems Network Extension doesn't directly provide a way to write system proxy. In order to archive that, we may have to use Packet Tunnel Provider in destination IP mode and create a local VPN server to loop back the network traffic and do the proxy stuff in that server. In other word, the custom VPN protocol is 'forward directly without encryption'. This approach looks viable as we see some of the network analysis tools use this approach, but still I'd like to ask is this against App Store Review Guidelines? If the above approach with Network Extension is not against App Store Review Guidelines, I have a further question that, what is the NEProxySettings of NETunnelNetworkSettings for? Is it the proxy which proxies the VPN traffic (in order to hide source IP from VPN provider) or it is the proxy to use after network traffic goes into the virtual private network? If none of the above is considered recommended, what is the recommended way to programmatically set proxy on WKWebView on an unmanaged device (regardless of where the proxy runs, web-view/app/system)?

How to capture 48MP capture with Ultra wide lens using iPhone 16 pro max
I am working on capturing 48MP images using the iPhone 16 Pro Max with the Ultra-wide camera. I’ve updated the code to capture the maximum supported dimensions with the following snippet: if #available(iOS 16.0, *) { photoOutput.maxPhotoDimensions = device.activeFormat.supportedMaxPhotoDimensions.last! photoSettings.maxPhotoDimensions = .init(width: 5712, height: 4284) } However, I’m still not getting the expected results. My goal is to capture 48MP images, and I want to confirm if the Ultra-wide camera supports this resolution or if I’m missing any other configuration. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Does URLSession support ticket-based TLS session resumption
My company has a server that supports ticket-based TLS session resumption (per RFC 5077). We have done Wireshark captures that show that our iOS client app, which uses URLSession for REST and WebSocket connections to the server, is not sending the TLS "session_ticket" extension in the Client Hello package that necessary to enable ticket-based resumption with the server. Is it expected that URLSession does not support ticket-based TLS session resumption? If "yes", is there any way to tell URLSession to enable ticket-based session resumption? the lower-level API set_protocol_options_set_tls_tickets_enabled() hints that the overall TLS / HTTP stack on IOS does support ticket-based resumption, but I can't see how to use that low-level API with URLSession. I can provide (lots) more technical details if necessary, but hopefully this is enough context to determine whether ticket-based TLS resumption is supported with URLSession. Any tips / clarifications would be greatly appreciated.

iOS 26 UITabBar (swift_getObjectType) crash
We’ve recently updated our app to adopt the native iOS 26 tab bar. Since then, we’ve started seeing crashes on iOS 26 devices with swift_getObjectType appearing in the stack.

Launch app Notice Navigation Title “Directives” is missing from top tab in Sidebar and Floating Tab View (iPad) and TabView (iOS). Navigate to other tabs and Navigation Titles appear as expected. Worked fine (as expected) in iOS/iPadOS 18.5, but broken in iOS/iPadOS 26. Reference Feedback: FB17987650

Integrating MLX Models with React Native for iOS Deployment
Hi, I'm looking for the best way to use MLX models, particularly those I've fine-tuned, within a React Native application on iOS devices. Is there a recommended integration path or specific API for bridging MLX's capabilities to React Native for deployment on iPhones and iPads?

ScrollView paging position is off in iOS 26
Hi everyone, I have the following issue that I have tried to tweak every possible modifier of ScrollView and still got the same result in iOS 26. Description: Create a SwiftUI ScrollView with scrollTargetBehavior of paging, also create a bottom UI view below the ScrollView. If the starting index is not 0, the position of current page will be off with part of previous page shown above it. It only happens on iOS 26, not on iOS 18. Also if bottom UI view (text view in this case) is removed, it also works fine. I want to see if there is a solution for it or it's an iOS 26 bug. Thanks! import SwiftUI struct ContentView: View { @State private var currentPageIndex: Int? = 3 var body: some View { VStack { scrollView Text("Bottom Bar") .frame(maxWidth: .infinity) .frame(height: 80) .background(.red) } .background(.black) } @ViewBuilder var scrollView: some View { VerticalPagerView( currentPageIndex: $currentPageIndex, itemCount: 10, content: Array(0...9).map { index in content(for: index) } ) } @ViewBuilder private func content(for index: Int) -> some View { // Empty view with random background color Color( red: Double((index * 25 + 0) % 255) / 255.0, green: Double((index * 25 + 80) % 255) / 255.0, blue: Double((index * 25 + 160) % 255) / 255.0 ) } } struct VerticalPagerView<Content: View>: View { @Binding private var currentPageIndex: Int? private let itemCount: Int private let content: [Content] init( currentPageIndex: Binding<Int?>, itemCount: Int, content: [Content] ) { self._currentPageIndex = currentPageIndex self.itemCount = itemCount self.content = content } var body: some View { GeometryReader { geometryReader in ScrollViewReader { reader in ScrollView(.vertical) { LazyVStack(spacing: 0) { ForEach(0 ..< itemCount, id: \.self) { index in content[index] .id(index) .containerRelativeFrame(.vertical, alignment: .center) .clipped() } } .frame(minHeight: geometryReader.size.height) .scrollTargetLayout() } .scrollIndicators(.hidden) .onAppear { guard let currentPageIndex = currentPageIndex else { return } reader.scrollTo(currentPageIndex, anchor: .center) } } .scrollPosition(id: $currentPageIndex, anchor: .center) .ignoresSafeArea() .scrollTargetBehavior(.paging) .onChange(of: currentPageIndex) { oldIndex, newIndex in } } } }

I’ve reviewed the logs in Organizer but couldn’t find anything conclusive. The issue seems isolated to iOS 26 and doesn’t reproduce on earlier versions. com.grofers.consumer_issue_2cc3a4a209ab2b47bfbdab919a320fa7_crash_session_68148be54ef5441fac56d3138d055bac_DNE_5_v2_stacktrace.txt
